There's more to this than simply throwing your pieces onto the play field.

You can steal pieces from your opponent(s), recover your own pieces, and reuse any pieces up to three times before they flash and will be taken out of the game.

Once you know these facts, which are explained in the help screen, you can pull off moves that clinch victory from the edge of defeat! Truly a game of skill with deep tactics, that defies first impressions.

Option to play CPU of increasing difficulty would be good. And it sometimes crashes when ending a game. Online over cellular is prone to falling over.

But overall a very nice game.

I don't follow. Please explain?

I guess the fact that Warhammer Quest is about to land on Steam will be a perfect timing to announce their new project, whose announcement was already set for fall 2014.
The new game will probably be multiplatform (ios and PC), being developed with the latest Unreal Engine....so a iOS and Steam announced is likely.

It's just me hoping it anyway, so I could be totally wrong...but I guess we won't have to wait much longer for a teaser and finally know is it's set in WH40K, Necromuda or something else.

How common are IAP sales during Christmas for F2P games?

I've spent enough time playing Swords & Poker Adventures that I feel like throwing them a $5 or $10, but their IAP model is kind of garbage (thankfully, the game is pretty well balanced that the premium items are all optional). At 50% off though, it might make sense to grab a nice weapon before I enter the final world.

With multiplayer? :D

Hi, So I'll be picking up my first iPad today, my ipad mini 2 and while I have an iphone 6 I've typically never gamed on it usually because it seems to kill the battery and I need every mah I can get. With that said though what's the best website for keeping up with those must have iPad games? Also do most of you play on the touchscreen do you buy one of those compatible controllers?

Thanks!

Talking about iPad games, I just remembered Zero Age. Has anyone played it? It's a shame that it seems like it's been forgotten, because just look at it. I want to play it so badly

I don't think it's Hunters 3.
So far we know:

1) It's a Games Workshop franchise.
2) Will use latest Unreal Engine (so it's a departure from previous Rodeo efforts that used a custom self made engine).

Nothing else.
Anyway, can't wait either.

I think it will be scifi and multi platform (PC, iOS and Android).

I was hoping for WH40K setting but there are so many WH40K games right now it's unlikely.

But 40K from Rodeo, which means it probably wouldn't be F2P, and it would also be a true turn based tactical game like Hunters and Quest? That makes all the difference compared to Space Wolf, etc.

Thanks for bring that one up. It came out before I got my mini and had forgotten about it.

Looks fantastic. Not sure if I should believe some of the App Store reviews complaining about the controls. 148apps did give it a 4.5/5 though. Not much else professional review wise. Surprised Pocket Gamer, which I trust the most, hasn't reviewed it. For $2.99, I'll probably just bite anyway.

Yes it will be definitively like Hunters and WHQ (ie turn based etc...).
But there are sooooo many WH40K titles...from f2p to action to grand scale ones that Im not sure Rodeo picked WH40K (I wish tough....the idea of a WH40K themed Hunters with a campaign, progression and a galaxy map like in WHQ makes me drooling....).

There are many other GW franchises tough to pick up.

Necromunda is another rumored setting.

Can't wait for them to reveal it...could even be Warhammer Quest 2 from what we know (with async co op multiplayer.....my life would end).

Enjoying Hoplite so far. Managed to get the fleece on my third go, so now I'm trying some of the achievements. The Atheist achievement is hard as hell. Haven't gotten deeper than the 14th floor doing it.
The Hoplite Master achievement made me giggle when I read the description, it's so hard and specific.

Here's the PC trailer

I don't what, if any, are the differences between the PC version and pocket edition

I'm enjoying craft the world but man finding it hard. Can't build a shelter before all my guys slowly get killed.

It's an interesting take on games like terraria and junk jack.

anyone poke around with papers please ipad? curious how some of the later systems translate to touch

Enjoying papers, please but haven't olayed the PC version to compare. I hope it's normal to only be able to earn around $40 per day because it is pretty hard. As soon as you start to get the hang of one thing, they throw more rules at you. All my family except my wife died pretty quickly but now I can almost afford a grade 7 apartment.

Crossy Rode is really fun.

It is. Basically just endless frogger but it is fun and I like that art style.

What's the best CCG available on iOS? I like Ascension, but was looking for something else. Preferably one that allows for play against the CPU as well as other players, and definitely not one that is play to win. Something like Hearthstone (but I don't have an iPad, only iPhone).

I do know that HS is coming to iPhone next year though.

I just got a 6 Plus. Any cool games that take advantage of this big-ass screen? I'd love to play Papers, Please on it, but as I understand that's iPad only. Been enjoying Monument Valley and Super Hexagon.

VainGlory definitely will benefit from the screen size. XCOM as well

Anyone ever check out Hadean Lands? It's this absolutely sprawling, massive interactive fiction/puzzle adventure that took four years to make. I haven't seen much coverage of it, but the few reviews and impressions I have read say it's intricate, challenging, weird, and one of the best interactive fiction experiences in a while

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hadean-lands-interactive-alchemical/id918958300?mt=8
Repairing an alchemical starship single-handed? Not easy; perhaps impossible. You’ll have to discover the rituals you need, and then search for ingredients, and then improvise and substitute. You’ll have to calcine, distill, dissolve, and precipitate. And somehow, somewhere, you’ll have to figure out what happened and why.

map-label-1000.jpeg
screen568x568.jpeg

http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/27566
None of the story is really given to you; it's your job to explore and discover it. By the end, you'll have your own theory of what happened and who you really are, but there will never be anything concrete. It's the kind of work that you immediately want to discuss after finishing.

All of this is possible because the game world is so immense and rich with detail. There is a huge map to explore, filled with what must be nearly 100 rooms. And these rooms are packed with hundreds of items, many of which can be collected into inventory, with thousands of things to do with them, testing out new rituals, examining for more background details, sniffing and feeling and manipulating everything that plausibly warrants it. The enormous ship cries out for exploration, and thanks to Plotkin's joyously peculiar set of ideas and inventive prose, the game is incredibly fun to read. In what other game would you discover formulas and rituals like the “Greater Phlogistical Saturation” or “Gaian precipitate synthesis”, let alone the “prophylactic scalpel inscription”? And in what other game would you, right at the start, be wafting a sprig of rosemary in order to form a “resonant note” for a “cleansing of brass tarnish” ritual

Big sigh of relief...thank god Helsing's Fire is getting an IOS 8 update. Redownloaded today, saw the game was completely broken, and that the last update was 3 years ago. That usually doesn't bode well

Fun fact: Helsing's Fire is from Lucas Pope, the same dev as Paper's Please

Ahah, I'm going to assume you meant "same"

And thanks, haha, I was pretty ticked about the game then. Still am, actually

So with papers please, I'm sometimes getting a penalty for incorrect gender. Is that always going to be a mismatch between documents, or am I supposed to be able to discern gender from the odd art and unusual names (because I can't)?

Been a while since I played, but you should be able to scan their bodies to determine if they're male or female?

I've Ben playing Corrypt all weekend after seeing it talked about last week and I finished it up last night. It's such an amazing experience, I've never played anything like it before.

For the uninitiated, it starts as a box-moving puzzle game before taking an abrupt and surprising turn halfway through where it introduces a magic system. The magic in effect breaks the game, and at this point you have to learn how to break it right. Or break it in the ways that are useful to you.

It's filled with dead ends where you'll need to restart all over again, but that's just part of the fun, you're encouraged to go hog wild and ruin everything on order to understand just what it is you need to be doing. The sense of discovery and revelation as you experiment is contagious. And I love how after a while, the puzzles become emergent and random as you destroy the world. Some rooms flat out break and become unsolvable, others become much easier. There are secret rooms that I'm still surprised I found. So much fun.

One year later, Out There is still freaking awesome (and better than when it first came out, due to that tiny but fundamental change when you meet the first artifact).

It's the only single player game I still play after all this time.

Speaking about multiplayer games instead, if anyone is up for a 'fast' game of Talisman or Witcher AG, just tell me.

So post range #300-400 (rough count) was fucking depressing to read, certain people seem to be living in a bubble wistfully ignorant when it comes to the leading iOS demographic and how it actually correlates to other platforms.

Re-thinking my desire to post these threads now with this kind of bullshit around instead of conversations about games.

OP updated.

From the PC version it was pretty easy to tell if there might be a gender mismatch. For meat least it was easy to see which sprites were meant to be male and which were meant to be female.

You highlight the gender and then click the person to check.

I think that kind of discussion is a rarity in these threads, the rest of the pages and other months' threads are a testament to that.

I just got the magic in Corrypt and don't understand what it does yet. Need to play around with it more later.

If you use magic in one screen, that tile is then the same on every screen. If you use it on a space, that space is there on every screen now. Use it on a wall, that wall is there now forever in every screen. I found it also works with switches and other special blocks too.

They key to the game then becomes how to diligently add spaces with magic without breaking other important things.

Got hooked on the Clone Wars series after seeing tons of praise for it in the Episode VII rumors thread, and I needed more Star Wars, so I finally got KOTOR

The visuals may be dated, but the game still holds up. The main twist got spoiled for me a while ago, but it really doesn't matter because the overall experience is so good. The combat, the worlds, the story, really just up there with the best RPGs.
How are you doing with that? That's one game I need to get back to (and I mean it). I've played off and on since it got released. And I finally got off Dantooine and I'm in the early stage of one of the next planets, don't remember what it's called.

I too hadn't played it back in the day (but I wish I had) and I am loving it. I hope that this Old Republic stuff is so far ahead of everything else that it can be considered canon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way it was worded, I thought Tunesmith was more upset about how that discussion made others sounding "ignorant" when it came to iOS being a serious platform and that type of conversation is indeed depressing. But PLEASE keep these threads going because at least the regulars here truly know how iOS gaming is much more than outsiders believe it to be. And we want to talk about the awesome games that are on it.

It is bullshit that Family Sharing only works with a credit card. Some people don't want a credit card on the internet, especially not on a device kids get to use sometimes. And in Germany, many don't even have a credit card.
