Really cute episode, though not as emotionally satisfying as I hoped it would be. I'm glad we finally got to see Rose but her hair really broke the moment for me. It was so shiny it looked fake.

I don't know what to make of this, lol.

Neither did I =(

I didn't like Rose's look though. Her hair was too shiny....yes I'm very particular about hair. Her voice was amazing though.

She was practically
glowing

Damn man, right in the feels. I like Rose's design. I didn't expect her to be as tall (if not taller) than Garnet though, still liked it.

Definitely taller.

By at least 6in" to a full foot. But she looks so motherly and caring.
I like how she respects humans as to be proud her son will be one.

Although,
I guess because they are sentient stones that don't have a "real body", they cannot give their half of their DNA to create an offspring (because they have no DNA to give, their bodies are made of magic). So I can get that they have to become half the person, while the other half gives DNA.

Man.... My allergies are acting up ;_; I wasn't prepared for these levels for feels.

Steven Universe really is the bets animated show on television at the moment. I love how gradual the world building is. Amazing pacing and character development. I think it's safe to say that lion is the other half of Rose.

Pearl is now tied with Garnet for my favorite gem.

Of all the things I like about the show, this is my favorite part. There are so many unanswered questions, and you know they've probably considered all of them. Every episode, they innocuously seep some new details about the world that are pretty big, yet don't really draw too much attention to them. Like, Rose hid a badass sword in Lion's mane, but Steven was only interested in the tape.

The contents of the video tape seemed to almost certainly be a reference to the tape from the Cowboy Bebop episode "Speak Like a Child", right down to it being, well, on a tape. Though not a beta.

Not just the location of Rose's Sword, but other things were hinted at that came to a head in Lion 3: Gems (besides Steven) don't need to breathe and The Big Donut is the only place Steven knows that has a VHS player.

It should be noted that we now know about the gem bubble and that mysterious chest inside Lion's... uh, mane dimension. Wonder how long until we find out their purpose.

It's a familiar trope. Adventure Time did it too. It's also something real parents do from time to time (making tapes of themselves that their unborn child can watch when grown).

I just realized that bubbled gem was Crystallized Bismuth!

I wonder who that was?

Well, I mean, the structure of the tape is very similar too, especially in how it starts out and how the in-episode viewers react.

Gems are what ever sex they want. I'm pretty sure Amethyst was a dude when she was a wrestler. I think Steven is the first and only Gem with a Biological sex.

A little late, but I saw the latest episode the other night and WOW those feels. Getting Susan Egan as the voice of Rose was a nice touch too.

Question for those fans since the beginning. I didn't get into the series until a few episodes in. Is there a pilot where they show Steven meeting the gems? Or do they just drop you in the middle of things?

I certainly hope they put out a blu ray for this show. Seeing this in HD would be great, and I gotta support it.

The iTunes releases, while sporadic, are incredibly high-quality 1080p encodes. But yes, a Blu-Ray collection would be sublime. Especially if it comes with a plush Centipeedle.

I just realised the sword that the sword under Rose's tree was the one Steven pulled out of Lion's head in Lion 2

I watched the first episode of this a while back and didn't really take to it, but I've always meant to come back and give it another try.

I'm now doing that. Just finished episode 8, and I'm warming up to it. With the exception of Steven's weird nose, I really dig the art in particular.

Also, Team Amethyst.

Marathoned the whole series a couple weeks ago.
I'm absolutely in love with everything about it.
I was a big adventure time fan and Steven Universe tops it, no question.
I sort of wish I hadn't discovered it for a few more years so there had been more episodes to go through all at once.

Yeah, there is surprisingly little of it since they only have short episodes each week.
So was Lion 3 the season finale or a midseason finale?

Pretty sure it's mid-season. There are still a lot of episodes left to air if the list is anything to go by.

Mid-season. Both this and the announced season 2 are about 50 episodes a peace (50 11 minutes episodes, so about 25 per season when put together).

Those are amazing

I would have used one of these but I'm not gonna change my avatar right before Christmas

For some reason that reminds me of Chowder.

CN will be airing a plethora of new episodes for their various animated series January 8th, including a new Steven Universe ep, "Warped Tour". Steven about to go full Barclay up in here.

Just found out about this too: Steven Universe RPG "Attack The Light!" coming to iOS/Android/Amazon devices:

Steven Universe: Attack the Light! Is a turn-based RPG that draws its inspiration from games Paper Mario. The game tries to incorporate the validity of the show into the game as much as it can. This can be seen in battle by the way that Steven operates, he does not attack and instead uses his Cheeseburger backpack to support the party.

Each character has their own attacks that require specific action from the player. Amethyst for example has a special attack that requires the player to rapidly slash at the screen, something rather similar to the experience felt while playing Fruit Ninja. The individual mini-games mid-battle give the game a fun sense of variation similar to what players experience when playing Mario and Luigi: Dream Team.

What is really interesting about combat is the lack of traditional Hit points (HP). Instead, the Crystal Gems share something called the “Harmony Gauge” which represents the synchronicity of the team, when a characters harmony dips too low they will be unable to use certain abilities, thus changing the approach to battle. The ability to end a turn is also given, meaning you can stockpile to unleash multiple devastating attacks in a single turn.

Outside of battle, the player will be given dialogue options which represent the relationship system between Steven and the party. It is said that these results will affect battles but the specifics have yet to be revealed. Also, there is no word on Gem-fusion yet, could the dialogue tree have something to do with it?

As a show, Steven Universe has a very specific and vibrant visual appeal. This is obviously a powerful essence that will be carried over to the game, however it has been a bit more simplified. Since Steven Universe: Attack the Light! is being made for touch-screen devices it would make sense to see more concepts around that premise. The dungeons, which adhere to their own themes and aesthetics, can be navigated with simple swipes that take the party from room to room. This simple navigation allows for finding battles rather quickly.

Steven Universe: Attack the Light! is being made by Grumpyface Studios with close association to Rebecca Sugar, who has created the storyline. The game currently has no price and is said to come out later this year, it can be expected on iOS, Android, and Amazon.

Grumpyface Studios Blog has more screens and other info. They also seem to be working on an Adventure Time game.

Also, not sure why this exists but I think I like it:

EDIT:
tumblr_nhrwqj9I9n1u1e188o1_400.png

Alone Together
The Crystal Gems try to teach Steven to use his fusion powers.

The Test
Steven finds out that his mission to the Lunar Sea Spire was a test and demands a new one.

Future Vision
Steven learns that Garnet can see into the future and becomes curious about the possible dangers that lurk around him.

If these schedule updates are accurate, than that means that the episode order is back to what was leaked months ago.

Oh damn,
they really are the Autobots

But I gotta say, I do love Steven keeping it real. Things are starting to get delightfully serious.

The train has left the station and the conductor has informed the passengers to hold on to their butts, for this runaway locomotive has NO BRAKES.

What an episode.
"I can't do this, not again!"
Looks like things are going to get very interesting from here on out after what occurred in this episode.

Ooh nice.

Just managed to watch "Warp Tour", great episode; I swear this show gets more mysterious and engaging in almost every episode.
The last few minutes with Peridot (I really like her design and personality) was intense, my eyes were glued to the screen!
I mean, the way the gems react to the presence of non-earth gems and their reluctance to talk about their history really makes you wonder what's going on between them and their own species.
The creators need to hurry up and go ham already, they can't keep teasing me like this!
I'm ready to see what's happening beyond the earth.

Peridot looks like she could sub for a Megaman Robot Master.

I'd be ok with "Other Gems want to exert their superiority over lesser species" kinda thing, but I hope its a bit more complex than that.
