This is the positive takeaway (for me). I'm extremely happy to see a 3D Nintendo fighter. This will certainly help it distinguish itself from Smash and other traditional 2D fighters.

The big negative here is the overall level of the graphics. I was definitely hoping for more.

Honestly watch some standard footage from the stream going on, an average match has a lot more effects reasonably impressive movements etc at any one time. This trailer is basically a poor showcase of some of the moves.

I hope they upload some higher quality footage of some the matches.

Ah &#8212; you're absolutely right.
I think EVO narrowed my mind given all their fighters there are on a 2D plane. I wasn't expecting this game to get so far in competitive circles though.

But also, as others point out, Tekken is also the same with its 2D plane &#8212; so my expectations are ruffled up a bit now. (But hopefully for the better, of course)
Edit: Saying that, it looks like the fighting auto-switches to 2D when in close proximity? Possibly? It seemed odd that both characters were able to jump forwards and backwards from one another straight. There's also an icon that flashes up shortly before this switch occurs.

Has the charm of Pokemon but also seem like a very legit fighting game. This is what 3D Pokemon should evolve to graphically for the next RPG. The fights actually look tense.

My only concern is the controls. If it's final that the arcade will be using the pad and not a stick setup, then they better replace the dpad with an 8way digital thumbstick. Otherwise your thumb will slip on the previous player's gore.
