Legend of Legacy did pretty well for the first week. Now let's see if it drops off the map in the coming weeks. If it manages to break 100k, it'll be a pretty solid success for the publisher. The director seems like a really passionate young guy, so I'm rooting for him to find success.

Couldn't have phrased it better.

Based on interview and livestream, he really sticked to his vision till the end, and focused on making the most "pure" traditional RPG (including no DLC).

I can't wait to see his next project.

***

By the way, total sales for YW2 should be 5 492 633, if my calculations are right.

PS4 still dominating consoles. When is the next big game releasing for it?

Bloodborne
God Eater 2: Rage Burst
Dead or Alive 5: Last Round
Dragon Quest Heroes
RE: Revelations 2
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
Disgaea 5
One Piece Musou 3
Senran Kagura: Estival Versus

All of them come before April.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Legend of Legacy is finally back in stock on Amazon, but it's still sold out at Yodobashi.

What do you mean?

after Lost Dimension and furyus general reputation lots of fence sitters, even though it looked like really great. I have it, its ok, but nothing spectacular. Dig the art style though and music is great.

Doesn't even list Bloodborne or Battlefield :(

Edit: or Yakuza 0

It's amazing PS4 holding up so well despite only 1 game and at nr 20. You'd expect it to fall down sub ps3 level with that shitty support, the console not giving up so easily must disappoint some here lol.

Zestiria not on PS4 is such a missed opportunity, would've helped both the console and game.

Wii U software completely dwarf ps4 software but for whatever reason the system continues to sell very poorly in comparison to the ps4. Technically, this is a tie in Japan, where one company wins on the hardware front while the other company wins on the software front. At least that's my opinion of course.

It may just be the saturation point for the HW market in Japan right now.

We'll know for sure when a truly big game like KH3 or FXV hits the PS4. If it can drive HW sales over 100K then the PS4 will likely go on to strongly overtake the WiiU. If not the console market in general in Japan looks bleaker then ever.

My money's on the latter, so many Japanese companies have switched their focus to mobile I don't see anything in the pipe pulling them back. Where are all the mid tier games that sustain a platform between the megareleases?

You're saying that as if 13k is a great number.

He said big game for PS4. Musou 3 won't be anything spectacular either.

Zestria sold worse than expected. PS3 sales have also reached their peak.

Year of PS4.

Could have been a pretty decent week for PS4 if Zestiria came out on it too.

Totally forgot about the lost PS3 sales >.<

I'm betting on Bamco doing a PS4 version, probably later this year or early next year.

If they launch Zestria in NA on PS3 it will be dead lin the water. PS3 sales in NA have been stagnant (outside of the normal holiday bump) It still boggles my mind why they would not launch the game on PS4 in the first place with the way the market has been going with PS4 sales... Bamco plzzz..

yeah its looking harder and harder for ps4 to have a big impact in the future, mobile is unstoppable at this point

There's quite a few mid-tier games coming from February onwards. March especially is packed with them. The question is can PS4 sustain the decent third party support it's seeing recently or is it a one-and-done kind of deal.

From someone who expects 2m for PS4 this year huge disappointment will definetely come.

Bamco are launching Godzilla and J-Stars on PS4 in the west despite not being on the platform in Japan.

You never know.

You're saying that as if 13k is a great number.

Nope, but with that non-existent support, it is holding amazingly well.

It will only go up(and considerably so) in the next months.

Are you saying PS4 will not reach 2M LTD in Japan this year?

Seeing no response... Lawl. You must come out of that pessimistc hole back to reality.

It's been said again and again and even a few times on this topic, it's not because it'll sell 60 or 160k copies on PS4 that it means 60-160k additional copies, most of the sales would just come from splitting the userbase across platforms.

So basically...something that you can't prove. There's a lot of unknown variables.

What if the people who would normally buy it later on decides to get it early on PS4? Or someone who skipped most of the PS3 Tales of games and bought a PS4 version of ToZ because they wanted something to play?

You can't say with confidence that a PS4 version wouldn't add 60k to the first week sales. 160k? Not likely. Maybe by the end of it's LTD.

Wouldn't that make it the best selling PS4 game LTD outside of the Knack bundle? Also, even if it did sell that much the PS3 version would sell less.

It would have been the first big japanese game on PS4, so it being the best selling title in japan makes perfect sense.

That's not the point. Maybe it could. But if it did, PS3 sales would be lower.

It makes more sense for Bamco to release the PS3 version now to get all the sales they still can from the "dying" console, and then re-release it on PS4 in fall to get the double-dippers.

The situation in Japan is different than in the west where PS3/360 software sales are lower than PS4/XB1.

Yeah, PS3 sales would have been lower, but by how much? I doubt a lot of active PS3 owners bought a PS4 yet, they're probably still waiting for the big japanese games to hit.

Confirmed no. Almost guaranteed, yes.

We know it is going to happen, especially with around 400k sold in Japan. They do need to put it on PS4 in NA/EU for it to gain sales though. If it is only on PS3, I don't think it would be worth their time for a physical release.....

Kirby is way more popular than Zelda, Pikmin and Wario in Japan.

Even DK, though? Also, if you saw, Pikmin significantly outsold all of the above except 3DW.

9. (Wii, Nintendo) Wario Ware: Smooth Moves - 63,954 / NEW
06. [WII] Play on Wii: Pikmin 2 (Nintendo) 28,706 / NEW
01. / 00. [WII] Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo) - 339.901 / NEW
03. / 00. [WII] Donkey Kong Country Returns (Nintendo) {09/12/10} - 163.310 / NEW
02./00. [WII] Kirby's Return to Dream Land <ACT> (Nintendo) {2011.10.27} (¥5.800) - 136.811 / NEW
01./00. [WII] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword # <ADV> (Nintendo) {2011.11.23} (¥6.800) - 194.978 / NEW

I realize Wii was dwindling in popularity by this point, but the mainline Kirby here did significantly worse a couple months before the mainline Zelda.

(Also FWIW, this is a spin-off and not a mainline Kirby game.)

But isn't PS3 still doing extremely well in Europe (even better than Xbone)?

That list above still worries me though. A lot of those games are clearly only coming because they also have a PSV version. That's fine in and of itself, but it does speak to a lack of confidence.

Confirmed no. Almost guaranteed, yes.

Okay okay.
I know most people probably didn't think XB1 sales were going to be great, but god damn, did anyone think it's be doa to this degree?

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but outside of UK the PS3 does pretty well, but that is a much smaller market than UK and NA combined.

Perfect, I thought I had seen it. Still says the same thing: They need to launch this on PS4, period. PS3 will get it's hardcore dedicated fans only, but push sales. Hell, they should have done the same with Xillia 2. I mean, I really liked the first one, but like many others, I rarely turn on my PS3 anymore... (been 3-6 months now... dammit Destiny)

I don't think anyone predicted that it would sell 259 units a few months after launch.

In other related Xbox One JP news it finally reached 45k LTD in Media Create. I think it's the worst console launch ever in Japan. Will it even reach 50k by it's first year in september?

Maybe it's smaller than US & UK combined, but I don't think it's significantly smaller since PS3 managed to outsell Xbox 360 by relying on that market & RotW,

Yeah, it looks like reception for The Legend of Legacy hasn't been too favorable.
Combined with stock issues, that could spell trouble.

Still, it's already FuRyu's most successful game ever, though I imagine the budget's much greater than other games.
