Finished the Great Bay temple, other than running out of time on the stray fairies which sucks. But oh well. Will round them up later.

I didn't have any problems with Gyorg. It's been too long since I played it on N64 so I can't compare the changes. But I didn't find it tedious at all and got through it pretty quickly.

Just shoot with fire arrow when swimming a few times until stunned. Then switch to Zora mask and jump in water and use the R button attack on the eye. I just ignored/dodged it when it jumped over/on the platform. Second phase I just kept a good distance away but facing him, and when he started to swim I boosted through the mine chain nearest to him, and and then R attacked the eye. I didn't miss him inhaling the mine at all. Plenty of bottles at the bottom of the water to replenish magic when needed in either phase.

Yep fuck nintendo for abandoning the octogonal gate for sticks. Wii U and 3DS are missing it badly.
It's kind of funny, because I remember people in the octogonal gate era cursing it up and down and some people even drilling out round holes in their GameCube controllers.

In this case I think the key problem is simply that we have a game designed around the N64 stick that didn't see appropriate changes for the slide pad.

Don't you keep it for the next cycle if you make a deposit?

Yeah, but it's not worth the time to even get it in the first place when there's much easier ways to make money. Spending an entire 3 day cycle to get 120 rupees is a waste when there's a free 100 rupees just sitting in a chest at the start of every new cycle.

That's why I was wondering if there was anything else to it. I guess not.

Why would you complain about it ? I can't find a situation where it's handicapping

Being able to make a precise input in a particular cardinal direction ? Fuck that, we need round things everywhere !

Night of the Final Day. I'm in the Stone Tower. I've got the master key, but I'm still missing four fairies. That's gonna be a close call.

I didn't make it in time. So I had to restart the temple, but I used a guide that time to make sure I don't miss any fairies.

Well, fast-forward a few hours later: When the Great Fairies appeared during the credits, I realized I had forgotten to bring the Stone Tower fairies back to the well. Fuck!

A terrible fate indeed.

Mine was super close. I had one fairy left, but it took me forever to realize that
I could hookshot onto that one chest
to reach the boss. Ended up doing the last half of the Twinmold fight while the Moon timer was showing. Made for an exciting fight though, barely winning and having time to go visit the fairy.

Speaking of those fairies, I really wish I could
equip the GF sword as an actual sword. It's cool that I can swing my normal sword and then block. But this game has too many items/masks that are often useful, and two of the item slots are super annoying to actually use. So it's soft limited to just two, and there's no room for this thing usually.

Probably some combination of expecting it to include the game, and the US n3DS's not including AC adapters.
Yeah, but of course, it makes sense for people who were getting both the statue+game bundle and the special edition n3DS.

(not that one was likely to actually get a hold of both thanks to supply issues)

Why would you complain about it ? I can't find a situation where it's handicapping
You can still find some people in this thread disliking it.

Finished this game yesterday. Did not 100%, but I got close.

Was fun, but not my favorite Zelda. A little too obtuse and frustrating for it to be. It did have some great scenarios I very much enjoyed.

Re: swamp great fairy. Got the stray fairies in woodfall. Found the skulltula house but can't figure out where the fairy is. Can I ask if it's supposed to be obvious or tricky? Will the click town great fairy give me a hint? (or might a kind GAFer?) thanks!

Look around the area surrounding the temple. There's more to it past the area where the Owl Statue is.

So, I was wondering, and I don't know if you guys have already talked about it, but... What's the closest you can get to a "Near Perfect" cycle?

I posted this a few pages back, but here was my best (note: time was slowed down)

Day 1
-Feed the hungry Goron
-Defeat Goht
-Bow practise/ promise to save ranch from aliens
-Make all the Chickens grow up
-Save Pamela's father from being a zombie (This happens just by beating the temple, but doing it manually means Pamela isn't rude to you afterwards)
-Beat the King of Ikana
-Beat Skull Keeta
-Give Tingle's Father a picture of his son
-Give the witch a red potion
-Defeat Odolwa
-Return the Deku Princess and save the monkey
-Race the Deku Butlet
-Make promise to Anju to see her at night
-Solve the mayor's meeting with the couple mask
-Get the Moon's Tear (all Deku Business stuff is done as well, but spread over several days)
-Beat the Swamp Skulltula House
-Beat the Ocean Skulltula House
-Listen to Guru-guru's problems
-Teach the Rosa Sisters how to dance
-Free Kamaro's soul
-Get Letter from Anju and post it
-Save the ranch from aliens

Day 2
-Promise Gorman to get him milk
-Get all the Zora eggs
-Heal Shiro with a red potion
-Get the fisherman a picture of a pirate
-Reunite the seahorses
-Deliver Gorman his milk
-Teach Evan the song the band will play over the credits
-Enter the Great Bay temple and beat the frog mini boss (no Gyorg yet)
-Listen to Anju's Grandmother (short story)
-Find out about Kafei and give pendant to Anju
-Save the milk delivery
-Play the ballad of the wind fish (fun fact: Gorman's dialog is different if he had his special milk)
-Conduct the frog choir
-Win the Goron Races
-Get Celebrated as the new leader of the Gorons (I didn't even know about this cut scene when I played the game 15 years ago!)

Day 3
-Get Letter to Kafei's mother
-Defeat Gyorg
-Practise with the Zora Band
-Defeat Twinmold
-Let postman deliver Kafei's letter
-Reunite the Clock Town Fairy (Doing the temple ones would be way too much work)
-Get the sun mask back
-Watch Kafei and Anju reunite
-Stop the moon from falling

As you can see, not that much was done on the final day, so with a bit of shuffling around, I think it would be easy to get in most of the mini games. I'd also like to try this again, but without slowing things down (obviously, I'd have to scale back the number of sidequests though)

So I just finished the first dungeon.

Is there anywhere I can find how many Stray Ferries I got throughout the dungeon? I'm not sure exactly but I know I'm close to the 15.

Second question, can I simply go back into the temple to collect the last 2-3 I need without redoing the whole dungeon?

Sounds like a loot of helping! I will say the list LOOKS a little short, but I can't think of anything in particular that's missing... But I'll have to try one of these cycles some time.

I'd recommend it. I played the whole game without slowing down time, so it was a great way to see if slowing down time could still allow for some challenge. Also: my biggest tip for runs like this is to remember that the Gorman bros barricade Milk Road after 6pm. From the schedule it says to talk to Cremia between 6-9, but you have to actually be in the ranch BEFORE six. I lost about an hours worth of progress on my first attempt at this run.

If you pause in the dungeon to say check the map, there should be a stray fairy counter. If you reset the cycle, you'll need to collect them again but the locations of ones you collected will be on your map.

How much of the dungeon gets reset?

I assume the normal enemies do but not the bosses.

I have to redo the puzzles?

Everything in the dungeon itself is reset, including every puzzles and small keys but you keep the big stuff. You keep the dungeon map and compass, as well as the bow so you can breeze through the dungeon if you need to when collecting fairies. I think you lose the boss key itself but if you beat the boss once and have its mask you can replay it via a warp right at the beginning in case you need to heal the area for quests.

Everything is reset, bosses, mini bosses everything except key items (essentially the bow item you get and Map/Compass.) The dungeons, however, are designed to be easily conquered once you have the proper bow of that type though, you should be able to skip through large parts of the dungeon. EG in the first dungeon you can immedietly ignite the center room torch and access the top floor as a result as long as you have the bow.

In addition to this, if you need to access the main boss, and have already beaten them, you can warp straight there.

Cool thanks guys.

I just went back (before reseting) and got the last 2 fairies.

Looks like I did all I could do right now... Time to reset I guess!

Also... I know that the game is not as big as OoT but I miss Epona.

Sounds like something I'd stream, if I had the capability to do so haha.

What you're supposed to be doing is TALK to people. Therein lies every solution. Talk talk talk talk talk to everyone, multiple times. EVERYONE. You know this is a game about people in that town. Talk to them. They tell you everything you need to know. Pay attention. Talk to that person again that you talked to this morning or yesterday. Look at the notebook. What do the hints say? What are people telling you? Investigate!

I went to the final area early so I could get the Heart Pieces there, and I love how they redesigned the Link section.I got all the Heart Containers now, so I'm going to finish up the last few quests in the Bombers Notebook then fight the final boss.

Hmmmmm... so I don't get anything for gaming the lottery tickets all 3 days? I must have never payed much attention to it the first time around since I didn't remember it at all.

Seems like a waste of time to just get 120 rupees (that I can't even really use since it's the night of the last day) when there's a free 100 every single time I reset time.

Very weird inclusion. It's a fun idea just because it's a funny use of the time travel aspect, gambling with knowledge of the future isn't really gambling and all that, but they could have at least given you something nice out of it. As it is it's just a big waste of time.

.... gaming the lottery?

Are the winning numbers based on the time on the game-clock when the ticket's purchased or something?

No, they're fixed (at least) per playthrough.

The winning numbers are the same for every cycle. If you find out the winning numbers for each day in one cycle, you know what they are so can choose them in any following cycles.

Holy shit I never noticed since I like never played the lottery.

I also didn't think it through my first couple playthroughs. I thought, "this is a dumb minigame, the odds suck for a 40-rupee gain."

It hit me years later…

The stupid thing is it's the exact same principle/concept as the bomber's code, and I figured that out immediately.

SMH brain. Y u fail me?

Beat Twinmold. I actually enjoyed the fight more now that I knew what to do, it was genuinely difficult although the giant Link was still a pretty hokey looking thing to control and witness. Gonna do the cave in Ilana before heading to the Clock Tower on the final night :)

Have spent the past three weeks or so playing through Ocarina of Time 3D in anticipation of Majora's Mask 3D. Finally finished it today and loved it just as much as I did back in 1998.

I haven't played Majora's Mask since 2000, so l don't remember most of it, but I must say, when the opening scene with Link riding Epona in the forest began, I could feel that I'd be in for a treat. This is going to be great!

Hope everyone is enjoying it. I'm pretty excited to join in the good times. Happy gaming, folks!

Just finished the pre-dungeon quest for great bay.

Wtf is up with the Zara controls? Was it always like this? I mean ok I've heard they changed the fast spin so it uses magic... But the controls and camera and collision detection feel really bad at times.

Like if you're hovering and pull a slight wrong way and start swimming camera will wildly swing around.

The most infuriating was the
beaver
part. A timed challenge with rings that if you miss and bump into the collision detection will swings you 180, then put you in hover mode making it really difficult to regain orientation, making you lose 10 seconds and likely lose the challenge. On top of that, knowing you messed one up may cost you, there didn't seem to be away to restart, instead, you're left to wait out the 2 minutes.

Was pretty annoying.

Zora controls were a mess for me at first, but after the Great Bay temple I felt like I had a better grasp on them. They require a.. gentle touch.

Just a heads up for you Majoras Mask Collectors out there. You know who you are. GameStop's PowerUp Rewards has some poster's up on their site. You need 6800 points to redeem them. So if you shop at GameStop and got some points saved up, then knock it out. Their pretty bad ass actually. I just snagged them myself.

This stuff usually goes pretty fast. I got some MGS posters their a few months back and then they were gone rather quickly.

Has anyone had the game freeze on them yet?

I had mine freeze today while showing it off to a friend and we both died of laughter. Just because we were talking about how this is the only version that isn't prone to freezing like the cart/gamecube version and then it went ape shit.

Basically (I'll spoiler just incase since it deals with the 4th area)
I was showing him how certain Gibdo's do a russian dance when you wear the proper mask inside the Ikana castle place. After I went upstairs and into that big spacious square room on the 2nd floor: the room didn't load properly (so no actors loaded besides link), z-targetting would not stop (so gyro aiming was going nuts too), then everything (fps) started to slow down then went to black screen.
Then it booted out to the menu and said "an error has occured. this may result in lost saved data" (no shit).

Was wondering if this happened to anyone else or in that area? I had already beat that section and was just running through it for fun. Of course it had to happen in the
undead spirit spooky
part of the world too >_>

I leave my 3ds (a regular old one) on ALL the time and just switch out games. I basically hadn't turned it off in a week and majora's just running non-stop, do you think this caused it or just a one time? Either way I downloaded that 1.1 update just now lol.
