SimCity a disaster for you? Take a look at Cities: Skylines (not related to CitiesXL)

Are you able to build multiple cities which can co-operate? For example, can one city sell its water/electricity/waste to another?
Everything is all on that one map, and is one continuous area. There is no "region" view, like in SimCity4, or SimCity2013.

Fuck this game looks awesome. Any chance it will run on a Haswell Macbook Air?
I don't think integrated graphics would run that well. IIRC, the minimum specs required a discreet card. Or do Mac Airs have that now?

Pedestrians still need to get through the area, and roundabouts make it especially dangerous. They are much larger than normal intersections, cars have no expectation to stop, and there are too many other things to look at to start worrying about people crossing.

Cyclists and cars do not mix well. The idea that a cyclist will get through a roundabout safely is just insane. It's already dangerous enough to have right hook collisions at normal intersections -- roundabouts are 100% right turns by faster traffic.

It's all just super dangerous. I get that you can drive through it faster than an intersection in most cases but it's really not worth the risk to people walking and cycling.

Any stats showing this? I'm part of a working group redesigning a heavily trafficked intersection in the county and haven't come across it, though pedestrian traffic is not a concern in the study area.

This is the first game I actually pre-ordered in a long time. Does anybody have details about the soundtrack or who made it? I always loved the Sim City soundtrack.

Ah ok, thanks! :)

Pre-order on Steam done. Cant wait.

After a week straight of watching streams and YouTube's of the game, I think I've finally had my fill of watching others play. Now I just need to find something else to do to pass the time until Tuesday.

Watching my mate play this on his YT channel makes me sad I don't have a PC.

This looks fantastic. He's pretty rubbish though. Lol.

Oh man, I am going to be so lost with all the transportation options in this game. I was watching a stream where they kept talking about "frontage roads" and said WTF is that?

There's an unlimited money mod, but it disables achievements. You can also enable all buildings with a mod as well. I haven't seen any scenario/campaign modes yet.

I think i will try out the unlocked all and unlimited money mods first to test out some
designs. Like a monument and road placement stuff for planning out some parts of my
cities better.

The Shanghai Nanpu Bridge Interchange seems like an interest project to recreate in Cities: Skylines.

The problem is that roads can cross above and below each other, but they can't actually run in the same direction above or below, because of the way the support structures are built (they have to run straight to the ground, not to another road). So stacked interchanges exactly like that probably won't be possible. But if you could spread them out so they're no longer directly above and below one another, it might work. It'd take up a huge amount of room, though.

I've never played a sim city type game, but after seeing streams the past few days, this looks pretty awesome. Definitely gonna be tempted to pick it up, look forward to this thread.

I'm trying not to watch too many streams so I don't get "bored" of the game before I even play it. But, I do have to say that I love what I've seen so far. It seems like you can be very creative without worrying about running out of space. It seemed like with Sim City I was held back in my creativity due to that size restriction.

I didn't have a problem with watching videos prior to SimCity. Starting your own city is always completely new compared to what you've seen, a far cry from most games.

Yeah, I'm done watching others play too. I want to do it myself now. Two more days!

lol you absolute fucker I thought this was in-game graphics for a second and was about to jizz my pants.

I would love that to be in-game visuals. In fact now that I take a careful Iook at it, it looks like a 3D render of some sort. I just googled "Nanpu Bridge" and grabbed first image I wanted to link here.

Although I hope maybe we can make such roads with mods. It would be awesome.

That would be fucking sweet.

lol yeah me too. Someone gotta make an UE4 based game.
Cool but it seems the game can't do multi level road on the same position for now.
I don't think those are multi-level directly on top of each other. It looks sorta like a spiral, so that should be doable in the game.

It is a photograph, but done in the tilt-shift style to make it look like a toy model shot.

I grew up in France, where we have them virtually everywhere (I think we're world champions for that), so I can safely say there's no problem with that.
Low traffic roundabouts are no problem, and the fact that people going in have no priority takes car of that.
Big roundabouts have underpasses for pedestrians.

Roundabouts are a great way to do intersections of many major axes in one place, and in these cases is even better for the pedestrians (underpasses meaning no waiting for the ample to turn green for them), as well as for low traffic intersections of multiple roads.

Holy shit. Wouldn't want to be in charge tto do something like that IRL lol.

Has Paradox said anything on about adding disasters in the game? Like car/train crashes, floods destroying roads and such?

Not planned at the moment IIRC.

So anybody bought the game using a proxy on Nuuvem? I can't seem to get it to work.

I switch to Brazil and add the game to my cart but then I get a 404 when I try to checkout with paypal.

If I turn off the proxy while the game is in my cart then it tells me it's not available in my country when I try to checkout.

You must deactivate the proxy after clicking the "Finalizar pedido" button, which will open a Paypal window. Once deactivated, enter your PP details, make the payment and it should be done.

What proxy are you using? Hola had some problems with Nuuvem as far as I know. FlyVPN worked fine here the few times I wanted to buy on Nuuvem.

Yeah that's what I did but then it gave me a 404.

I was using Hola so I'll try FlyVPN.

Wow, that city is gorgeous. Lots of great pictures in there, this game sure does win in the looks and screenshots department.

There's something worrying in there though. The game seems to have some unrealistic traffic problem with cars pilling up for miles. Not that this not exist in real life but that city appear faily simple and not as big or complex for creating such traffic results. He's also using alot of roundabouts at the same time, I fear it might become the only viable option to have decent traffic in this game, ruining part of the realism.
