Did you notice heavy tearing in the upper part of the screen while moving around Kamurocho? The game looks great and I don't really mind, it's just that I don't remember Ishin having that problem.
Yeah, it's a real shame because the place looks amazing otherwise, but I definitely do notice it in some areas, especially when dashing around.

On Chapter 6 now and still loving it so far, it's a perfect mix of laugh out loud funny (especially the subevents, but some things in the main plot too - Ch5
Kiryuu and Nishiki's karaoke session with Kiryuu literally cheering him on cracked me up
) and serious plot development. I can't take Awano seriously with that jacket though, especially when he's always trying to look threatening.

Thanks, good to know that it's not just me. All those neon lights combined with the the number of NPCs and the complex city geometry are probably more demanding than Ishin was. I hope they'll be able to release a patch, but the game is fun either way.

Demo was like it as well. :( I can confirm that Ishin didn't have this problem too, as I'm playing it right now and it has looked fine since the beginning.

architecture by far is more complex. seriously never understood people who get concerned with tearing. but then again i dont give a shit about things like resolution and framerate either as long as a game does not turn into a slideshow it is a non issue personally lol

Intersting, maybe the studio always releases a historic spin-off as their first game on a new console because there's less on screen and they can section off parts of the city instead of going "full Kamurocho" on unfamiliar hardware.

In most cases I agree with with you, resolution and framerate don’t really bother me. I'm even fine with good old Yakuza jaggies on PS3. But tearing just takes me out of the experience.

><, tearing is so bad in gaming. It's like watching a bootleg handcam of a theater film where the image is off and unstable.

And yeah I noticed the tearing in the demo in the bigger areas, was a shame but at least it's only at certain areas and not the whole game. It's graphical far more complex and better looking than Ishin though.

You're not alone, lots of tearings and pop-ins (garbages on the street), also those hideous loading screen, everytime they're appearing, i was thinking my game glitched or something. Polishing sucks comparing to Ishin...

How bad is the screen tearing? I couldn't finish Killer Is Dead cause it got so bad.

Definitely not as bad as Killer Is Dead. The frames tear only in the upper third of the screen and only if you're in crowded areas or if you're sprinting. I haven't noticed anything during cutscenes. Don't let this small issue keep you from playing the game. It's just noticeable because Ishin ran so perfectly.

Yeah, I really can't stand tearing in general, but it's really not a huge issue here because of how infrequent it is and how easy it is to avoid. It's just an 'oh, that's a shame' kind of thing rather than a serious issue.

Also damn, I can see this property management thing getting addictive. Getting more and more places, investing in them, seeing the money all come rolling in... I love how it links in with the substories in the game too, considering sometimes NPCs you help will show up outside your office and let you hire them.

Went to Yodobashi last week during lunch time and saw quite a few people standing in line at the register. Literally each and one of them with a copy of the game. Really tempted to finally get a PS4, but beside Ishin and Zero I don' t see anything I really want to play hmm.

Not interested in Bloodborne?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I might be the only one that really liked Rikiya. It's a shame we won't see his character develop any further. I thought Seijima was great in 4 too (yet to play 5.) I'd be down playing an origins game with him as the lead role. There's so much potential for spin-offs starring other characters. I love Kiryu, but I wouldn't be devastated if they strayed away from him.

he was fun to play but his story was really one-note and kind of lame. I felt like they kind of dropped the ball with him. Saejima's great (with an actual story arc) but his fighting style never clicked with me.

The sidemissions/minigames are so much fun, I'm still stuck in chapter two. Best things so far were
the RC car races, being a TV producer and teaching those Yankee-wannabes how to be a real gangster.
As a longtime fan, those little moments of foreshadowing throughout the game are great as well.

Don't think you can miss this, so technically speaking it might not be an easter egg, but this was such a nice surprise.

Dragon Quest 3 made people skip school or work.

well screw that, this wiki is shockingly detailed already

Thanks for the guide. I tend to keep a Japanese wiki on hand for certain parts of the game (modding and mini games mainly) so I'm sure this'll come in handy when my copy arrives...

Also, looking at the trophy list is anyone able to confirm if there is a "100% mini game clear" challenge trophy (I didn't see one listed). If not then it might be the easiest of the Yakuza games to plat, except maybe Yakuza 2.

this, and keeping track of side missions since triggering some of them can be less than obvious at times.

I don't see hostess club stuff on there, which would be nice. Trial and error it is, I guess.

also I would be thrilled if there isn't a goddamn shogi requirement for trophy hunting. or pachinko, I guess.

there is a play all minigame trophy

there is a play all minigame trophy

Is that just playing each of the mini games, or is there one for completing all of them completely (such as getting the high scores on all of the batting cage difficulties?). As I'll no doubt play all them a lot as I progress through the game anyway, its just I don't see me 100%ing the batting center, I can only do that in Kenzan! and Ishin as they are so much easier.

Hostess stuff I'm hoping will be like 5, in that its much easier just to select anything and progress with them! Unlike the PSP games which were nightmares to complete, as it took forever and a day. That's one thing the official guides are good for though, I used one for 1-3 as I don't really enjoy the hostess stuff - bar 5, Ishin and Dead Souls (as Majima's answers were hilarious). The official guides just give you all the damn answers so I could breeze through them spending as little money (and time) as possible! Weirdly enough though I loved the hostess management stuff from 2-4 (shame they chopped that bit out of the English version of 3, it was insanely addictive) so Majima's management mode should be ace.

For Shogi, I'm hoping for an easy way of completing what I assume will be the "win 3 games of Shogi" challenge like in past games. Mah Jong clicked with me and I really enjoy playing it a ton, even if I only have a basic understanding of the rules but I just can't get my head around Shogi at all.

Oh, and my Famitsu DX edition has been sent out, so I should hopefully have this game soon. Can't wait to start getting stuck into the game.

So I noticed something strange... Don't know if it's also like this in the full game version, but If you played the demo and go to "recent activities", it will show the Western's translation of the game "Yakuza 0: Chikainobasho demo", is Sega just trolling their Western fans or...?

that's weird. there's also still the rumors that the Asia region version might have english in it but I'm finding that kind of hard to believe, personally..

KHHsubs thinks it's bunk and I'm kind of inclined to believe one of the biggest RGG fans out there's sources

So close. Day 1 with my JP PSN. Can't wait. Sega was damn smart to put Yakuza 4 on PS+ last month. I'm so hooked to the franchise now.

Edit: Wait... Whoa... It's been out for nearly a week already? I've been out of it for ages, didn't realise. Downloading now. Will not sleep tonight.

Its certainly weird. As Ishin never registered at all in my "recent activities" tab at all, while other import games did... For now its probably nothing though, I refuse to get my hopes up until I get an official announcement!

It is weird, but I would not read too much into that, considering it still says "Chikai no basho". I doubt the English title would have that untranslated instead of something like "The Place of Promise"...

I dunno about the rest of you guys but I don't like how they shifted focus off of kazuma kiryu after yakuza 3.

I couldn't be happier, and Kazuma is one of my favorite characters in all of gaming. But instead they've added some great characters to the series. Well, except for Shinada. I'd be happy if at some point you got to do something as the kids from the Orphanage and had Kazuma play a minor background role even.

If there are comprehensive translation guides I'll be happy to just import this title as well. Interested in how the three fighting styles play out.

I need some help I think, trying to progress. I'm still playing as Kiryu. So I'd say I'm still early on, sorry I can't pinpoint exactly
but I think there's something I need to do to progress. Right now I'm standing in a park with a bunch of bums around a barrrel fire and I talk to them, but nothing. Seems maybe I have to give them something? I was able to give one some liquor but nothing else happened.

You have to buy them alcohol. Sake, scoth whiskey, Beer, shochu, Champagne, etc. Each one has a preference. I can't remember exactly what they want, but just go to the conveniences store (each store sells something different) and don Quixote (for the champagne) and buy all the drinks and you should be good.

Awesome, that's what I thought,
as I had given a bottle to one but I just didn't have enough of them I guess.

I love how in every Yakuza game, to progress you have to buy bums alcohol.

I ALWAYS carry a bottle of sake around with me for this reason. Guess it wouldn't have been enough this time around. :D Thanks for the info.

Off topic but what's the best place to get Ishin now that the translation guide is completely done? Physical copy from somewhere or off psn using a JP account system?

Thanks!
