Snack World (new multimedia project by L5) announced (3DS/Mobile)

It is a "Hyper Casual Fantasy" of some sort, for both mobile and 3DS, exploiting NFC technology for weapons/equipments (actual toys by Takara Tomy or in-game, if I understood correctly)

Inspired by Wonderflick, Dragn quest and Cova (these are MY WORDS) in terms of visual, the anime goes for a CGI approach that mixes claymation and manga styles, the game seems a sort of Fantasy Life 2 (for real!) with more enphasis on fights

Oh wow the keyring looks pretty cool. Since they are keyrings you can buy a lot of them and not worry about space.

i like the art style and the physical items touch. Neat implementation and the designs look good.

Only problem is waiting for it to come west... if it ever does.

I wish Japanese companies would try to design the western release of these things alongside the Japanese, so that we aren't waiting 2 or 3 years to get everything.

Can't understand a thing they were saying during reveal but I was still laughing. Looks funny at least.
I was hoping the TV series trailer was actually a ps4 game.

This looks pretty fun, I can see it being popular. Keychains NFC might work pretty well since it's much less cumbersome than figurines.

Despite really liking Yo-kai Watch nowadays, this is the first time a cross-media franchise announcement from Level-5 has me excited.

Loved the style of the TV show, the characters and, most of all, the little keychains.

Really looking forward to this one.

Curious how much the keyrings will cost, they look like the cheap blind box candy stuff you see all over Japan. Hoping they are reasonably affordable at a couple of hundred yen.

Hope the NFC stuff is integrated well in the game, if it's as weak as Nintendos token unlock efforts then i don't think i'd bother with it. Will see when it gets closer to release as more will be divulged as the months go on.

I only watched a short bit, but it's much too smoth to be actual claymation shot with cameras. I don't doubt they made some clay models as reference for the CGI artists, but this is quite clearly CGI.

I went crazy for LBX back in the days, with those robot model-kits both physical and in-game.

I cited Cowa, from the same artist, so something is really inspired by Toriyama, I'd say.

It's CGI done to resemble Claymation. Really cute, especially when they add the "2d lines" for facial expression on the main character.

Yes: it is a sort of Fantasy Life 2 (but real, this time LOL) when you move around an overworld with your party members visible, upgrade your equipment with the NFC keychains, and than fight. We still don't know how the fights will be handheld, while you can understand the overworld exploration looking at Fantasy Life videos or at this Snack World mobile sneek peek:

This looks pretty boring to me. It sports a very generic fantasy setting and the NFC is dull. Buy a shield keychain and get a shield! There's nothing that stands out at all. I'm not looking at that crystal sword and saying "Yeah, that's going to be an iconic symbol of The Snack World!"

The show looks good and I can see myself watching it, not sure on the game itself as I haven't seen any gameplay footage of it.

It's also more portable than Amiibo.

I like it, but Yo-kai Watch is WAAAAY more charming.

Not sure if Japan wants an anime with that visual style, but I love Level-5 for trying something different!

It certainly does look interesting. But keeping up with all items to buy might be tough. Really liked the pilot video. Level 5 hasn't let me down yet so I'm very interested for sure.
