Oh man that was so good. Was expecting some bad shit to go down at the playground, and pretty much right up until the final shot. Super satisfying end to this fantastic show.

yeah, that was an absolutely perfect ending. Totally satisfied by everything. I thought when Ava drove off that I would be pretty happy with that as the actual final scene, but then everything after that ended up being an amazing epilogue

I think my only real criticism of this season is that I felt like they kind of wasted Sam Elliot. Way too much talk about what a bad man he was, and not enough actually shown to back it up.

Still, great season, great way to end the show.

Fuck, man. What an ending. Got a couple tears out of me. Sad to see such a wonderful show go, but happy to see it end in such a brilliant note.

I'm glad it ended with that line. It sums up the show so well. The callbacks were all nicely handled and really effective. Nothing came off as cheap or overly sentimental. Just a great hour of television that closed out a wonderful series.

I really enjoyed the ending and the series as a whole. But anytime I get to see a show end on it's own terms, I'm happy.

Plus, lots of other great shows to watch now.

I was good with the ending from a story perspective. It didn't leave me with any feelings of "they didn't do this.." which was satisfying.

I just wish they would have dodged the Coors Banquet Beer product placement with the one scene. I'm all serious.. super involved watching the series finale and suddenly all I can see and hear is Sam Elliot doing a Coors voiceover. Completely stole the scene.

Gonna miss the show for sure though.

That was absolute perfection. Not only did it end on the perfect note, but it topped all of its years of incredible visual storytelling bravado with the shot of Raylan getting up from the highway and the car pulling away. I up and cheered. Could not believe my eyes.

Bye, Justified. You never shot too high, and that's why you didn't miss when it counted.

If you guys haven't actually read The Friends of Eddie Coyle, you need to get on that. I was really happy to see that come up out of Raylan's desk.

(the reference being the book is considered by Elmore Leonard to be the greatest crime novel ever written - George Higgins also wrote the book that "Killing Them Softly" is based on)

Also - that was the hat Elmore wanted him to wear at the end there, wasn't it. The "businessman's Stetson"

edit: Oh shit, reading the HitFix interview - didn't even occur to me whose hat that was. And I had JUST been lookin at the fuckin' thing.

finale was really good. that last scene was perfect. had a huge grin on during Boyd's sermon. Raylan eating ice cream with his daughter was incredibly sweet. the man loves his ice cream.
wish there was an after credits scene of Wynn surfing somewhere while listening to Canon in D because why not.

God what a great finale to a great show. I will really miss the Raylan/Boyd conversations :/.

Oh and the moment I saw Raylan with the new hat, I knew whom it belonged to previously.

Now the only thing left is to rewatch the show every year, I guess.

I wish they would have shown a glimpse or something about Loretta's future since her story has been pretty key this finale season. Great ending nonetheless.

Start hitting up Chris Provenzano to pull a Peter Gould and do a Justified spinoff centered on Loretta running the weed game in Harlan County in 3 or 4 years.

Season One's big bad can be Dickie Bennett.

Wow. I was a bit surprised by how everything played out, in some ways I was expecting a bit more of an explosive finale. I definitely didn't expect all of the characters to make it out alive at least that's for sure.

Even though it didn't play out nearly as bombastically as I was expecting it to, at the end of the episode, and after that brilliant final line "We dug coal together" I wasn't left feeling like I wanted more. It just felt right.

So sad to see this show go though :( it'll be hard for any show to top the brilliant performances of Walton Goggins and Timothy Olyphant not to mention that no other show out there right now has such sharp dialogue.

So. Damn. Good. Just an absolutely perfect ending to the series. I like that it didn't try and pull one last big twist at the end...it just ended the way it should...

More than any other show on TV, Justified felt personal to me.

I'm really glad they didn't go the dark/depressing route. Perfect ending for the show.

Great finale, loved Raylan taking Boone's hat. Wasn't Boone's hat closer to the hat that Elmore actually describes Raylan as wearing in the books than the hat he wore on the show?

God that scene with Raylan and Boon was so good. Also, from the Deadline piece:

Per Yost, Goggins thought it was a great idea for us to see Boyd preaching again in prison. When Raylan meets up with Ava in California, originally he was to arrive and immediately see her son. Olyphant suggested the idea that the son is revealed toward the end of the scene.

I really love how much we have heard of the actors offering so many great suggestions over the years, especially Tim Olyphant. Offhand I remember him suggesting that Art have that hilarious speech about how badass Drew Thompson was in season 4, as well as have Constable Bob be the one who kills Yolo.

Huh, didn't notice this at first, but the piece of mail under the newspaper article where Raylan recognizes Ava, it's from Seattle here, but more importantly it's from Rachel.

Ah he mentions a junior deputy, so I guess that's what she is now.

I just edited lol. He tells Ava a junior deputy was scouring papers, so I guess that's what she is now.

Raylan isn't always the most honest person, though. :p

If he'd told her, "hey, the Seattle office chief sent this my way" then I doubt she'd be able to relax as he intended.

Or a junior deputy passed the info to their boss Rachel who instructed them to look for Ava?

I also assumed the call from Seattle was to give Rachel her promotion. But maybe they felt she screwed up so is junior?

Yeah, fair point on the second point. My first instinct was promotion, but then I wasn't sure.

Edit: To elaborate, I wasn't sure whether there was any blowback after the whole Ava fuckup when she was in charge.
