Rumor: Mass Effect 4 details leak through survey

The Krograns hump like bunnies. They would be the most "invasive species" (to borrow a plant term) to a new ecosystem.

If this was a "Reaper survival backup plan" expedition (which is really the only motivation that makes much sense), the Krogans you brought along are probably the semi-sterile versions. But who knows.

Unless Pathfinder left AFTER the end of ME3. But that seems unlikely since then they wouldn't be able to totally sidestep the ramifications of the endings. So assuming they left before the end of ME3, the genophage is not yet cured.

Sounds good enough....but seriously guys waaaay to many pieces of the puzzle missing to be making some of these judgments. You're going off information with no framing device. We have no idea how many years after ME3 this is, or exactly what prompted this. For all we know this could be like 500 years later an we can make mass relays now. Who knows. From what I've read though....I'm super pumped.

Sounds amazing. I love the added customization for you, your squad and your vehicles, and I'm really intrigued by the sim-like establishing bases concept.

Also this:
Is also something I got wind of months ago. Seems legit.
Didn't they like publicly announce that? The only thing I inew about this game before was that it had the Mako in it.

It's a little disappointing that you can still only play as a human, but the game sounds good! It's like if you took Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect 1, and mushed them together. I'm guessing Cora will be an Asari?

Sounds about like I was expecting. Little disheartened by the Remnant stuff, since we just did that.

Curious how the 100s of worlds will work

I've never seen someone take so much offence over a little sprinkling of sarcasm. You can twist what you said in whatever way you want, the bottom line is you compared the game's story to fan fiction due to one paragraph.

I'm not hot and bothered, I'm perfectly calm, even within you throwing insults around so I'm pretty much done with responding to you.

Things are looking better already.

Wonder how the endings on ME3 will affect this, I chose green, sp technically humanity doesn't exist anymore, why would I find a new home for them?

Collect Resources to Fuel your Growth:

Scour solar systems and planets within the Helius Cluster to find valuable resources and blueprints of long forgotten alien technology that will allow you to craft better equipment and weapons, such as improving your leg armor to allow you to jetpack jump, or upgrading your cryo-beam (laser cannon) to target enemies or do area damage around you to clear out close threats. As you build your arsenal and resource infrastructure, you will be able to explore deeper into the increasingly dangerous and resource-rich solar systems of the Helius Cluster.

Thank goodness for trainers on PC.

And hey EA and Bioware, thanks for listening to the fans when we told you how shitty resource gathering is in your games.

Now we only have to wonder if they somehow found a way to once again make the galaxy map even shittier. I mean after ME2's galaxy map I figured they wouldnt be able to top themselves, but oh boy did Bioware make me eat crow on that one. Maybe this time we will have to scan planets while being chased by reapers while our ship is being boarded by the ghosts of the ancient Remnant civilization all the while you have to play a rhythm mini game where we try to keep a good buddy stroke going on Jokers shaft so his hands are free to fly the space ship.

Sounds awesome to me. I hope everything I read is legit and if it is, my hype level for this game is start to raise again.

Sidestepping those gods awful abominations that pass for endings in ME3 by saying anyone in 4 just fucked off and left everyone else to it, is far and away the best solution.

Just make none of those choices the ghost of Space Hitler offers canon, and never ever mention anything about them, and I might end up getting this.

What is it with Bioware's obsession with making the PC of all their games into some sort of saviour?

All people want is to be a badass in the same vain as characters like Agent 47, not the fucking messiah. I mean yeah, all video games are power fantasies at their core, but Bioware takes the fantasy to entirely insane levels that it starts detracting from the experience.

Can't wait to play as another generic human again. Though frankly I thought the paragon and renegade system was a bit too complex. I'd prefer it if they pared it down to one option instead of two.

Do people still think a HD trilogy is a done deal? I only ask because EA haven't really done up-ports in the recent past.

I already own all three games on last-gen, but on PS3 nothing from ME1 transfers to ME2, so I'd rather wait and get a version I could play through in one run with the same crew/character/progress.

DA:I seems to be the template for their future games, and as long as they sell well and get critically acclaimed I can't see it changing. The core gameplay is what it is, but they want to add lots of meta-game content surrounding the core mechanics. War table, timed missions, gathering crafting materials for more tacked on systems built around that core.

It's the ubisoft model for padding out game length. Instead of expensive content you have to spend a long time planning, voice acting, etc, you can just add in another shard to pick up there. And another there. And hey another building to climb, or outpost to clear! Hey look, our game is 100 hours long, just like you said you wanted.

far removed by time and space from Commander Shepard’s heroic acts and the final events of the Mass Effect trilogy

Only way it should be.

Along the way, you will encounter the remains of a once powerful and mysterious alien race, the Remnant, whose forgotten technology holds the key to gaining power in this region of the galaxy. As you uncover who the Remnant were, and the mysteries their ruins contain, you are drawn into a violent race to find the source of their forgotten technology that will determine the fate of humanity.

Bioware just can't resist, can they? Already with the Prothean mystery again, lol. As long as it isn't an end of the universe scenario yet again.

"Combat trained explorer" sounds like a good compromise. I hope the exploring is really priority one.

Yeah well my sources just confirmed it was all fake and Mass Effect 4 has been cancelled because fuck you.

Yay!

Sounds like a modern day collectathon. I would rather there be a dozen densely populated, amazing planets to explore over 100 sparsely populated, shitty planets with recycled textures. Would love to be proven wrong.

just once it's be cool if there was an ancient civilization that was interesting because of their culture or society and not their magical plot device super technology

I'd be in the dick

I know what you're getting at but for most players finding old items of purely archeological relevance would feel like exploration had no point instead of allowing for new tech and weapons.

For example, when a Krogan colony ship has been stolen by one of the outlaw factions leaving the colonists stranded without resources to survive, your Krogan squad mate, Drack, is determined to strike out against them.

Sounds like Battlestar Galactica, a flotilla of ships sent out to colonise another galaxy.

Glad that the multiplayer mode is coming back. Mass Effect 3 had the most surprisingly awesome multiplayer mode last gen. I did not expect to be so addicted to that mode.

Everything wrong with current open world games will be in Mass Effect 4.

Shame

Indeed, I hated the single player with a passion that almost matched my love of the first 2 games, and even I loved the multiplayer.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Why would you ever out that much story details in a segmentation study? It doesn't make sense to me, what are you testing for and what would be your key learnings?

Shooter fans don't like the name Drack?
Cmon. So weird.

I'm guessing EA really wants people to like ME4, especially after the last game's ending turned into a huge firestorm. So they wanted to know how much everyone likes each proposed aspect of the game.

I think it's the best way to get ride of those awful endings, I want to see more of it before getting hype for nothing but I really hope we can choose the race we want to play but it doesn't seems to be the case because we need to find a new home for our generic human beings ( hello interstellar )...

New galaxy promise new race, new planets and different atmosphere, I hope the E3 will deliver for ME this time.

Forget the endings, ME3 let the player make choices throughout the game they should never have been allowed to make, like Geth v Quarians and the genophage cure. Less choice in ME3 would have made for a better game, story, and less of a clusterfuck.

As you explore this sprawling series of solar systems (over 4x the size of Mass Effect 3), collecting resources and building colonies

It's DA:I all over again...

I get the need to just abandon the Milky Way considering that story is finished. I felt a little uncomfortable reading about remnants though. There was more than enough stuff in the original series even without Protheans or Reapers to chew on. I think an entire galaxy of discovery doesn't necessarily need some new threat in the same vein as the original villains if that's what remnants are.

Bioware said ME4 won't be like DA:I

Please don't talk to me about ME3 endings, I just don't want to think about it again lol, choices were good ( gets, Genophage etc .. ) but the endings will never been good, in any case, any scenario, it's a clusterfuck.

Multiplayer “Horde” Mode:

The next Mass Effect’s “Horde” multiplayer pits you and up to three of your friends against waves of enemy troops on various battlefields throughout the galaxy. Players fight together to survive increasingly difficult enemy attacks and accomplish objectives, like disabling a bomb near a colony base or assassinating a target. Progress through multiplayer missions to gain XP and earn new multiplayer specific weapons, characters, weapon mods, and pieces of equipment, which can be customized between matches. Multiplayer play will also earn you APEX funds (in-game currency), which can be used to purchase items and gear in the Single Player game.

Aw yeah. Dedicated servers this time please, ME3 multiplayer was awesome.

I would say it sounds more like Mass Effects version of "Stargate Universe" and will probably be about the same awful quality too.

Not impressed with what I have read. The Hundred's of solar systems will probably be mostly compressed jpg pictures with descriptions that you launch probes at. Plus it sounds like they are leaving the Mass Effect Universe hanging because they don't know how to tackle the huge elephant in the room (the ending). This comes across as a "reboot" in all but name, jeez they most really be embarrassed about the Shepard Trilogy.

Right now this comes across to me as a space game with the Mass Effect name tacked on.

Part of me enjoyed how some of the stars we visited in Mass Effect are real. Losing all of that with a new galaxy which is disappointing. I'll still be there day zero though.

I don't understand that.

What known alien cultures did we explore?
They were all made up.

No I meant the Asari were a known race. They had a history and an established culture known throughout the galaxy. You as the player are introduced to that culture and you learn about them throughout the series. Its completely different from discovering a planet and its people. Its like looking at the world of Star Wars through Luke's eyes in Episode 4. Unknown to you but known to everyone else. Its part of the magic.

Uncharted worlds is a huge theme of ME1 and even one of its musical track names

That's great but its not the central theme of the series or even the first game.

Sounds like DA:I's template, maybe the plot of this ego simulator won't be as cheesy and contrived; though it sure doesn't sound that way.
