Rumor: Mass Effect 4 details leak through survey

Some pretty good stuff in there. I'm curious on how the single player will turn out, but I'm definitely most excited for the multiplayer after having been really into ME3's. The prospect of raid-style multiplayer missions with post-ME3 combat is pretty fantastic to me.

it's technically the same galaxy isn't it?

Going by this info, if legit, no.

Andromeda is one of the closest galaxies to our own. I think it's the nearest big one?

Sounds great I really enjoyed DAI and this sounds an awful lot like it. I'd imagine they'd still have proper story and side missions as well which take place in more enclosed levels like in the other ME games.

Sounds like loads of padded content - repetitive combat challenges, collections, metagames, MMO elements - ala Inquisition, with old school Bioware content mixed in here and there, ala Inquisition.

It's amazing that so many games do the saving the world / universe story that it's got boring. I agree with all the people wishing for a more low key story.

wait a second this takes place in the Andrameda Galaxy...

Mass Effect trilogy took place in Milky Way

how are they going to explain interGalactic travel technology..they didn't have that in the trilogy, especially since the mass effect relays were destroyed
Same method as Interstellar probably, worm hole. Or they just froze themselves in the ship for a thousand years. Either way works. Relays would be dumb since there can't be relays outside the milky way.

...can we romance the wormhole?

hypersleep or something similar. Which would explain a level of technology we're already familiar with. That, or the mysterious wormhole they encountered somewhere.

Maybe the Remnants are the cyber people from the green ending, and you've gone so far into the future that they all died off D:

You maniacs!

Everything sounded good until they decided to add reapers by a different name. I'll hold my breath that remnants play a completely different role.

Didn't the main plot of the first game revolve around a relay between galaxies?

This talk of "APEX" gamebux and Inquisition-style "strike teams" make me very, very nervous. And I'm disappointed that it will be set in a different galaxy.

I'm honestly not sure why I expected otherwise, though. BioWare's mantra is throwing out the baby with the bathwater. If something doesn't work quite right, they have an alarming tendency to axe it completely.

Sounds like it has a LOT of freemium-ish grindathon sections.

The story sounds exactly like Bioware wrote it, which admittedly isn't too hard since everyone knows the formula now, but it has a ring of truth, I suppose.

The one cool thing is that... it sounds like the story is going off of the 4th ending of ME3. That maybe Shepard rejected the Catalyst and you play the last survivors from the Milky Way or something. That would actually be INSANELY cool.

But otherwise... yeah, okay.

No?

Reapers were programmed by the leviathans/thralls to manage life in the galaxy the milky way, and the reapers built the relays. It'd follow they're exclusive to the milky way.

So if their original plan was to announce this formally at E3 .. does this leak mean they may be forced to announce it earlier then E3 now and then change their E3 plans or is it too late?

The strike team mechanic doesn't seem too dissimilar to the mining mini-game in ME 2/3.

Mass Effect: Inquisition

Seriously, I want a setting with a dumb ancient civilization, so when you collect their shitty 1499 artifacts your character comments "ugh, another one from those idiots" and your colonization attempt actually start failing because you're retrieving junk and keep sending it to the labs.

ME2's mining was just a
shitty
minigame. It didn't involve waiting 20-30 minutes to receive the rewards. And it wasn't sending pretend people on pretend missions (that I could choose to go on instead).

I expect E3 reveal in those phases. Small teaser in Sony or MS press event depending with whom they have timed exclusivity deal on content and then full reveal during EAs own event.

I thought I remembered someone saying the reapers were waiting outside the galaxy and needed the
Citadel relay to get back in a timely manner in addition to making for a good surprise invasion point.

Sounds good to me, for the most part. Story seems cliche, but can't really pass judgment on that yet.

Really excited for the multiplayer though. After putting in so many hours in ME3 multi, it's such a fantastic addition.

They wait in the dark space outside the galaxy. Like how standing outside of someone's house isn't the same as being inside someone else's house.

Everything wrong with current open world games will be in Mass Effect 4.

Shame

Blame everyone who voted mass effect 1 NeoGAFs most essential rpg, I guess.

Anyway, some things sound different from inquisition, like being able to play the missions yourself. Mass Effect's combat is leagues ahead of Dragon Age's so whatever I'm doing ill be having more fun doing it.

This is fake.

Because there is no way there is a krogan alive in my mass effect universe.

if they place the start of the story before ME3 it could work.

probably. if it truly is hundreds or thousands years after events in the trilogy it should show in technological evolution as well. So yeah, my guess a bunch of races sent seed/colonisation ships (or joined forces and sent one ship) as a sort of Plan B; and when they arrive that's where the player comes in. I can imagine the game starting with a cutscene in the lines 'our galaxy is in turmoil, Reaper invasion, etc etc, you are our hope for a continued existence'. They could time it at the start of ME2 and add 'Shepard is dead'.

Oh, BTW, why is the Halo 4 guy the lead writer? Is there any sane reason on God's green Earth why Patrick Weekes isn't captaining the fuck out of this ship?
