Project CARS: Full car list revealed - 65 cars included on-disc, 9 to download

Yeah that's a really weak list. So much british and german. I don't really want to race Lotuses and Mercedes's

Licensing is a just a huge pain in the ass. I personally have very few cars that I would care about seeing in-game but as long as the cars actually there are fun to drive, I don't really have a problem.

Lambo´s racing cars are mediocre at best in the last few years, i guess this plays a role. The old Diablo GT1 and the Murcielago GT3 were not very good compared to the field, maybe the new Huracan GT3 can change this.

They produce super cars, high end sports cars. They don´t produce many winners on the race track. Porsche is a different issue. I bet if SMS could they would include a dozen of legendary Porsches in Pcars...

I'm pretty sure a lot more cars will comes later as DLC in the way of car packs.

Looking forward to grabbing this game for my PS4, just need to get a wheel to play it.

I'm really happy with that list.

I don't have a PS4 yet but I'm saving for one. When I do, this is going to be possibly even my first purchase.

A proper RACING game is something I just can't ignore and this looks like a healthy list of RACING cars.

Have the founders builds been open to modding? I can't imagine its too long before some of the AC mods, like the C6R, make their way over.

What does that word "racing" means? I really don't know. Is that some british word for pokemon?

Really disappointed about this list for this game. No Fiat Punto, Renault 4L or Wolkswagen Type 2? Give me a break. Releasing a car game in 2015 without my favorite cars is an outrage and they can forget my money. Project CARS with no cars.

So there's no chance of getting to race my beloved 2004 Chevy Venture around Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps? I'm getting real sick of this blatant discrimination against awesome Mom vans.

I've maintained for a while that the car list is pretty disappointing. That said, the ones that are there are done very well.

This isn't the game for you if you're only interested in road cars as that's certainly not the emphasis.

Both Forza and Gran Turismo are semi-sims. As in both games don't really offer full out mechanical damage, blown tires, engine failure, blown transmission, etc. You know things that are in several full facing sims.

Project CARS has these things. Gran Turismo and Forza do not.

Until Forza and GT actually get those aspects that actual SIM racers do have, they will and still will be considered semi-sim / simcade games.

This is such a bummer to me... Most of the list is like that too. You can easily cut that list down to 45.

It's not just about realistic handling. There are many more things that go into that strive that makes a simulation the accuracy of real life racing entails.

Only 60? I was expecting something like 200-300...

And the list is weak... I don't see much variety and lack of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Japanese cars...

I'm still excited for this but I guess I'll wait more to buy it.

Wow. I've been weighing up whether to buy this or grab the Driveclub season pass.

This helped my decision. Though, I'll still grab it when it's cheaper so I can race on Mt Panorama (Bathurs).

that seems a little small considering the game has CARS in capital letters in its name. Still I am sure its enough. I've played enough GT5 and GT6 to know that having over 1000 cars does not automatically make a superb game. GT5 and GT6 are both superb games but you know what I mean. Looking forward to next week when I get to play it.

Those asking for Lamborghini's and Ferraris. ProjectCARS focuses on actual racing disciplines and the regulations and specifications for GT1, GT2, Kart, Formula 1, Stockcar, etc. The types of races won't have Lambos or Ferrari's on the track in actual racing.

You might be lucky to see a Ferrari Formula 1 car maybe, but if you expect to driving in something like the Enzo, Italia, or F40. This isn't that sort of game.

Man you are not going to convince these guys about anything. This game really is meant for people who appreciate racing simutors like iRacing and Assetto Corsa, but wanted more graphical fidelity and track/racing variety.

But I don't think racing types are going to stop certain cars from showing up in this game. The Lykan Hypersport definitely isn't in any races.

Doesn't Assetto Corsa have the 458 Italia?

I don't know, I never played Asseto Corsa.

Out of the entire car list for ProjectCARS, the Lykan Hypersport is the only one that seems off / out of place since I don't know what class that sort of car fits into in terms of actual racing, other than those hyper exotics like the Bugatti Veyron, the SCC Tuatara and the like.

It also has the GT-R, C7, 599XX. Some of those cars didn't get released until later. Just like this game is going to be.

What's awesome are the free cars you will be receiving every month. They also future proofed the hell out of this game by offering 12K resolution. They are definitely looking at supporting this game for years to come.

This thread is so American it hurts.

What does this even mean?

I'm American, does that some how automatically mean I'm ignorant of the regulation and rules and car specifications of motorsports.

This is why generalizations are stupid! Fuck that nonsense.

Does it really matter if damage is that detailed? I mean it's nice to have, but if you crash in forza with damage on it's pretty much game over all the same.

Folks who like to tell your these games are "sim lite" like to move the goalposts to fit their superiority narrative - they kind of believe deep down they are real racing drivers. So if you say "it has damage" they'll move the goalpost to "how detailed the damage."

Best to ignore them and get on with enjoying the games.

For a racing sim. I'd say it's very important. striving for full realism is the basis of what a simulation should entail.

SMS formerly where known as Blimey! Games at one time were part of Simbin, developing games such as GTR FIA GT Racing, GTR2, and GT Legends.

Those sorts of racing games are closer to something like iRacing and more of the PC Sim centric racing games. That is what to expect out of ProjectCARS.

The last console game I recall that did the full on Sim racer thing was Race Pro for the Xbox 360 back in 2007.

What goalposts were moved. What exactly are you implying? Superiority Narrative? Why are you claiming some are on a pedestal here. There is no point in this.

Padding out the list with duplicates and cars with minor differences is one thing but this is seriously disappointing. I guess at the very least this will maybe help people understand the GT's premium/standard setup.

I agree.

I don't question the variety and effort PD goes to to include such a huge selection of vehicles from title to title.

Although I digress it could be cut down somewhat. I mean if we were to include just all of the premiums for GT5 and GT6 combined we are nearly at 450+ cars.

Of course I wouldn't mind they removed stuff like the WW2 Volkswagen Jeep Kubelwagon or the 1960's Hippie Van thing.

A condensed and varied roster is nice, but the massive selection Gran Turismo provides can be nice too.

I mean I guess it's a numbers thing.

Having 1 R32, R33, and R34 Skyline should be sufficient. I mean just pick the best version for each revision, or if you must have duplicates, then have one normal version and one racecar variant.

Outside of apparently the Isle of Man TT track being modeled, I know absolutely nothing about GT7. I'll still end up getting it anyways.

Superiority to what? People are harping about trying to compare apples to oranges. Not which type of racing game is better. If you enjoy GT and Forza type racers or Driveclub type racers or even Sonic Transformed type racers then that's all fine and dandy. I enjoy them too, but when you compare two different styles of racing games I just find it kind of ignorant. Comparable games to this would be iRacing or Assetto Corsa.

Stop trying to turn this into something it's not.

This posts sums up this thread pretty well.

You pick two cars that look about the same (they both are LMP3 cars) and conclude they're the same. The truth is these cars feel pretty different. The RS is very easy to tame, lots of grip on exits, a lot of bite on entrance of the turn, while the RX is more powerful and, while not a beast, per se, is harder to control. They have similar looks, yet they play clearly different.

People are used to 500 cars that look different yet play samey.

I will only say that I've been playing the game for three years and some cars I have played only once or twice. This is not a three lap simulator.

Does Turn10 and Polyphony have a limitless budget? How big is their budget, exactly?

As much as Sony is willing to fund for GT and Microsoft for Forza. I suppose that is the benefit of being first party studios.

Still I'd say the budgets for both games can easily reach 20 to 30 million. I am unsure. It's definitely much, much higher than what SMS had to work with for Project CARS.

I always get GT anyways but I didn't know about Isle of Man.. this is sweet!

It's not confirmed but there is this
http://www.bikesportnews.com/news/news-detail/Gran-Turismo-techies-studying-Isle-of-Man-TT-Course

Why have guys investigating the track if they aren't planning for something. And if it does lead to something, It could be the first time a GT game gets Motorcycles.

I'm more disappointed that my local race track, Castle Combe, isn't featured... Considering its importance in racing when it opened after Silverstone in 1950, longest standing track in the South West UK(Wiltshire) and several F1 champion drivers careers developed through there.

Forgive my, maybe half ignorant, question, but as a simulator, do you not drive from cockpit view or hood view, so how would the damage not being 100% there affect you? Also, as a simulator, wouldn't you try to avoid damage and contact at all costs, above winning the race in the first spot?

Again, I am new to the genre, so these questions are genuine.

Thing is, the majority of the people that will buy this on consoles will compare them with Forza and GT. And car list is one of the the features that sort of jumps out. So for the developers who want to sell as much as possible, it isn't exactly apples and oranges.

Seeing as how they had a mega corp behind them...

So they have unlimited budgets? I can't tell if you are serious, though.
