1080p 4xMSAA looks far sharper than a 1440p SSAA (I'm assuming you mean a downsample) just due to 1440->1080p not being an integer downfold, resulting in a lot of smeared edges

Both versions are quite different, but I like both regardless. The original Besaid theme has a more oriental timbre while the remastered version has a more flowy, Tai Chi-like texture.
to bad "challenge" was ruined and completely changed.....original is wwaaayyy better.

So in my entire time playing FFX here on ps4, there was one cutscene that dropped below 30 FPS.
Game is smooth at a constant 60 FPS, but this ONE CUTSCENE drops below 30. it was terrible. I was broadcasting it, it was worse live, but this is still bad

Frankly My jaw dropped, i was disgusted at this.

No crashes for me. Try rebuilding database first then if it still crashes maybe a re-install is needed.
This chocobo shit is driving me insane. I got 0:0.7 twice.

Yeah 'Challenge' is the one that upsets me the most, followed by using the Piano Collections version of 'Via Purifico'. I love the Piano Collections version of that piece but I would have preferred something more like the one found in the original game.
Oh and I think 'Decisive Battle' lost a lot of its impact and the "drop" at the end as it were. Also sounded cheaper.
Other than that I liked most of the arranged music.
Your point involved the game running at 60fps, which it doesn't, at all.
We must have different interpretations of the word "disgusting". You found an issue with the game, but it's one cutscene in a game that lasts dozens of hours. Don't over-inflate the problem. If you truly do find that disgusting then stop playing games because every game on the planet has minor technical issues.

Just started playing X, when I'm on the title screen it's the only one that I can access as the others are all showing as still downloading. because it's letting me start the game does it mean that X has downloaded completely or am I going to be stopped at some point to wait for data?
Not played it before, loving the colour and the daft voiceovers, doesn't seem to happen as much these days.
Playing it has got me thinking about Final Fantasy Type-0 as that's new to me also.

To be honest that scene in particular is near enough like that on PS3 as well. Even the PS2 version isn't so hot. I think it's the motion blur and some form of slow-mo thing they've got going on.
Besides, it's one cutscene. It's nothing worth being disgusted over. Shocked or surprised, sure, but not disgusted.
Tip, don't play Lightning Returns if frame rates bother you that much. Actually, just don't play it at all.

FFX is one of my favorite games so I am enjoying it regardless. I just didnt expect it to drop that much.
Btw I love Lighting Returns too. 2 more trophies til I platinum it. I will just drop it.

I liked XIII too for what it's worth. It's not without its issues mind you, I was a bit disappointed by it and I know what could have been done to improve it, but it was an enjoyable ride. I'm just not a fan of the direction they took the sequels if I'm honest.

I rebuilt the database and the dashboard icon came up as corrupted data so I re-installed. It was skipping music then it finally crashed again. Come to think of it, it was skipping music when I first installed the game.
Maybe the disc is bad and the data keeps getting corrupted. I hope nothing is wrong with my ps4 or the hard drive. My ps4 theme changed to blue for few seconds for some reason.
I'd get that checked tbh.

Everything was working great with multiple gamfly games. I had to send them back so I installed and deleted a bunch of PS+ games. Then I stopped using the system for a week because I didn't like anything. I don't game that much on it and it's in a well ventilated area. My machine should be in mint condition. :/
I guess I'll ask for a replacement disc and go get a redbox game.
Edit: Is it normal for a bunch of update files to install after rebuilding the database? Playroom, Netflix, NFL Sunday Ticket, Destiny, etc.
Edit 2. I initialized and got an official disk eject error when trying to load the save. My redbox game seems to run fine. I guess it is the disc thankfully.

So how do you know when a big attack is coming? The tutorial is telling me to use my Aeon's shield against an upcoming meteor strike and that this aeon alternates. Ok, but everything else?

I agree with you on XIII. I think XIII-2 was the worst one of the sequels, but LR redeems it in the most part.
Really enjoying this now and quite impressed with how good it looks now. It's certainly an old game but the few graphical touches here and there do make a difference. With this and Type-0 already out and VII on the way I can't help but feel that there will be more of the older games making an appearance at some point.
I'm quite looking forward to VII now, I know that people were unhappy that it's the PC version but I don't have any issues with that. It'd be nice if it got a bit of a light polish like this has but I don;t think it's essential.

I feel like I need to grind at the worst point for me in the game. ;-; I've already played up to Belgemine on the Mi'ihen Highroad 10 times dealing with the disc error. I lost my two legit battles using shield every other turn and died twice before getting to the save point near Chocobo Eater. Grinding to do all of that again isn't going to be fun. I'd like to get everyone up from 300-500 health to match Auron and Kimahri's 1k. There's too many attacks hitting for 300ish,
It's very likely we'll hear about that at E3. XIII Trilogy at E3, XII Remaster at TGS.

My friend can't get his save across from him PS3 to his PS4, says there's only an option to take it from Vita to PS4. Mine transferred fine, but I had last played it on Vita. Is this a known thing?

It xferd from my ps3. Does he know to use the data transfer tool on the main menu. It'll sync it to their server and should show up on the vita and ps4 both.

I don't see how that was personal but if you took it that way, sorry. I'm not even a fan of FFX really, but a got a little overly frustrated because I found your post and Youtube video description quite hyperbolic. When games release with technical issues, of course they should be brought to attention, but in this case the reaction didn't fit the problem.
You said I didn't talk about people complaining about music and face graphics - I think the previous paragraph explains why. I'm not against criticism, that's a dumb stance to have.

Cooked up a few gifs from the images supplied in the article, for PS2 vs PS4. Obviously there's some quality loss, and I'd definitely recommend checking out their actual images, but I just thought they're neat for a quick comparison.
Personally I think it looks good, and I'll probably be picking it up in a month or so when I'm finished the games I'm currently on.

The absolute worst is getting exactly 0:0.0. When that first happened to me about twelve years ago after a few hundred attempts, and I realized the time actually has to be UNDER zero to count (even though it's not displayed as such)...that was the closest I ever came to throwing a controller though the wall.
Enjoying my first play-through. Although I have a couple complaints:
1. Why can't I skip cut-scenes? If I die to a boss, I shouldn't be forced to watch a 5 minute dialogue exchange AGAIN. This adds nothing.
2. Save points. Specifically, right after you kill the dragon boss on the ship outside of Bevelle. Why isn't there a save point right after that? Instead, I have to watch a lengthy cutscene THEN fight several waves of enemies after. (Also, those guys that 'Leap Kick' your characters off the screen are infuriating. I didn't wipe to the boss once, but to those guys twice. THERE SHOULD BE A SAVE POINT AS SOON AS YOU REACH THE WEDDING.
- I'm right at the trail puzzle after breaking up the wedding in Bevelle. How far into the game am I?

That is the reason I just gave up even attempting to get the platinum. Worst part of the game by far! I'd do a thousand dumb lightning dodges in a row before attempting that garbage again.
