I think they were quick on the draw because it was pro xbox news. There are equally fake, equally positive PlayStation news and they rarely ever report on it. Only if it's fake negative news like tlg being cancelled does it seem to be rushed to the front page.

It was such a dumb fucking rumor, not a single part of it made any sense whatsoever. I can't believe Brian Albert posted the story, and that an editor (theoretically) signed off on it. IGN has zero credibility as far as I'm concerned.

I don't even think Sony would pay for it either. It worked well as a demo test with the usual Kojima flourishes, a full game though? Nope.

Not worth either of them fighting for it.

I think both Sony and Microsoft have the common sense to fight over Kojima, and a possible new project for him and Del Toro, instead of just buying out neglected Konami IP.

I wonder why this rumor got so much coverage. The "billions of dollars" part should be a clear indication that its not true. Microsoft payed 2.5 billion dollars for Minecraft, one of the biggest games/franchises of all time. They are not going to pay billions of dollars for something like Silent Hill, which is a small fish in comparison to Minecraft. And was the track record of the person who apparently made the rumor only that a Kinect-less Xbox One would come? I think a lot of people said that early on. Not really much of a track record if thats the only thing.

Count me in the "so obviously fake" news. Everything about that rumor was a load of crap.

You know, if people and the media are that gullible, I'm going to start rumors just to see if they'll get on IGN.
This just in: Sony has struck a $6 billion deal with Nintendo to put the upcoming Wii U Zelda game on PS4. The game is actually 76.42671% complete and will see release in February. I'm totes legit yo!

I love that the IGN guy who posted the rumor hasn't tweeted since he defended posting it yesterday. Sometimes you don't need to post every little rumor, especially one that sounds as dumb as this one.
