G-bike sequence, RedXIII and Cosmo Canyon, Temple of the ancients, gold saucer, Snowboarding! The Weapons!! Man....if they go all out its going to be the second coming, if it isn't already.
This is where I want Square to go all out. I love FFVII, but even back then I thought the synth used sounded bad in comparison to other games of the time. Use high quality synth and even real instruments on some tracks. Cosmo Canyon, arrange it with real Native American instruments being played. And hell,
Still More Fighting better be an arranged version of the Black Mages take. That one sounds exactly how I would've imagined the song, if played by real instruments.
It's a little bit weird to see so many duplicate NPCs in a short trailer like this. The guy I circled in red shows up 3 times in 30 seconds.
So, it's like FFVII. Good to see somethings don't change!
Turn based combat doesn't belong on home consoles. If they're going to keep the battle, then the game should have just been on a handheld.
action rpg or bust
I think that sort of thinking leads to problems if applied to everything. Look at it this way, many people want this game to be more ARPG, but look at what Nomura tried to accomplish for Versus and failed. He wanted more KH-styled gameplay, which didn't work. He wanted swappable playable characters, which also didn't work. And hell, even when Nomura left Versus/XV, Tabata and crew are STILL tweaking the gameplay. People realistically want a FFVII remake, and it to be released in a short amount of time(2017, which WOULD be short), but if they want all the bells and whistles they claim, the amount of programming it would take to consider an open-world ARPG with focus on gameplay physics and environment rather than a more contained classic style would no doubt result in a longer dev time.
And personally speaking, if it means a classic turn-based system within separated battle fields per encounter(like FFXIII games have done not so long ago), maybe with a tweak and polished battle system(more faster), if that allows FULL CONTROL of the party, allows the game to take control over the camera for choice situations) and the devs control over resources to the point the game could be released in a shorter amount of time WHILE being LESS buggy, so fuckin' be it. I take that over a full reenvisioned ARPG where you ONLY take control of Cloud, every other person is AI-driven, battles happen and the camera goes apeshit crazy and with all that in consideration, the MORE programming and glitch fixing that comes with that and delay after delay. Just get the fuckin game out. People gotta understand, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
