Speaking of eyes, I swear to god, stop listening to these fangirls and make Cloud's eyes glow like they should god dammit.

It's important.
Yuppppppppp! His eyes are what makes him stand out to Aeris and is a big part of his mako story.

Plus it's a nice looking design choice.
This is exactly what they're going for I think.

It's not a coincidence that Nomura redrew Cloud for Dissidia and that's his updated look.

It's more faithful to original art than anything SE has done with FFVII since the original.

I'll definitely hope. I want as true to the original as possible.

Unless they rewrite the story, then they absolutely have to do this as a few scenes rely on this fact. Which is good, it gives them incentive to stick to that part of the script. Just look at his portrait.

They have that murky, mako glow to them.

A nice touch I always loved is that they don't glow yet in his flashback portrait.

They're a deep, ocean blue. Post Nibelheim is when they become greenish blue and slightly ethereal looking.

Holy shit, I NEVER noticed this. That's some amazing attention to detail right there.

I don't think its just gonna be the exact same game with current-gen graphics tackled on and I certainly hope so otherwise it would have been subbed as a Remaster and not a Remake and with all the remaster/remakes we are seeing this generation, I still firmly believe that Capcom's Resident Evil on the ps1/pc remade on the gamecube is the best example of an all-out remake that took one generation-changing game to a whole other level.

I hope FFVII will receive the same treatment.

Supernova! How will that make sense? It better be there though in all it's ridiculousness.

The more I think, the more stuff I can't wait to see how they handle.

The whole progenitor race's (forgot what they're called) colorful underground city
The ancient temple that shrinks and becomes the Black Materia
All of Vincent's quest stuff. The old mansion and the limit break behind the waterfall
Hojo's lab

As many problems as I have with the game's battle system and story, it has amazing world design.

The more this sinks in, the more insane I realize this announcement is. I've been waiting for this basically since I saw FF8. What I want from this may have changed over the years but I'm starting to come to terms with how huge this really is. Like I posted a small list of things I'd like to see before really even acknowledging how crazy crazy this is.

And now we have to sit and wait to see what this will actually become. The narration during the trailer pretty much encapsulates everything I'm feeling about this game.

My list if wants grows longer the more I think about this. But ultimately, I'm just excited to have these characters back.

I'm really interested on how they'll handle the Turks. After Crisis Core, would they give Tseng a bigger role? Are they even gonna mention Cissnei?

Cissnei is one of the things from CC I wouldn't mind reappearing.

But I am looking forward to a return of the despicable asshole Turks that dropped a plate on a town crushing men, women, and children under insurmountable amounts of steel rather than the lovable goofball Turks from AC.

Granted the Turks were goofy even in FF7, but they were a serious antagonizing force.

This is pretty much the most important game in a while.

This is the Jurassic World of videogames here.

I'm disappointed I never got to play Before Crisis. That by far interests me more than anything on the Compilation.

I think they handled the Turks well in CC. I just want to see them even more fleshed out.

They could use this version for that iconic scene. The feels.
Aerith´s Theme (Orchestra)
I'm weird because I vastly prefer the original version. There's something more emotional about the sound of the original.

While I would rather they ignore CC, Cissnei was a nice edition and her relationship with Zack was far more interesting than the poorly done Aeris/Zack one.

That speech was just an extremely vague allegory about fans waiting for the remake since forever dressed up to sound like a plot point.

Yeah that was obvious, but they also use the same language in Advent Children and in turn FF7 games in general. Things like Reunion multiple times reminded me more of AC story points than anything else. Or does anyone think they are just going to flat out ignore all the stuff they added on to the FF7 universe post ps1? I think we all know that ain't happening.

I think my vibes and feeling with this game will ultimately depend on exiting Midgar for the first time and entering the World Map. Just like how it was with the original.

I have no doubt Midgar will be spectacular, but when the game opens up, that's when you get this really good feeling that sticks for the remaining 40 hours.

I am pretty flexible in terms of what they do with this game, although I would prefer a more explorable open world and updated battle system. I prefer action, but if they stuck with turn based I'd be fine. I actually like the materia system a ton and I think they could tweak it just only a tiny bit and it would still feel modern compared to other RPGs. It's not an archaic system.

But one thing that absolutely positively is an absolute MUST is Nobuo has to do the soundtrack. He just does. I don't trust anyone else coming in and remixing his tracks. The original composer has to redo the tracks. They are his work.

If they want to bring in Shimomura or Hamauzu to add to the soundtrack with more original work... fine. But the original tracks, if they are to be reused, need to be redone by Nobuo!

While I would rather they ignore CC, Cissnei was a nice edition and her relationship with Zack was far more interesting than the poorly done Aeris/Zack one.

I'm really upset that they seemed to modify Aeris' personality into a stereotypical one when the whole point was that her looks was supposed to be completely different from her actual personality.

I don't know if it's just me that seems to think this way.

“We’ve announced an HD port version on the PlayStation 4, and then we have the remake coming to PS4,” Nomura said through a translator. “You’ll have this extremely, very, very pretty FFVII existing on the same plane. We feel that if that happens, it’s like, why have the same exact game?"

It was kind of silly to think there wouldn't be changes

What is the name of the dog that they play in the reveal trailer? Not the one that is the opening theme song to Midgar, I mean the first music with the Jaws violin and piano.

What is the point of a remake without changes?

Come on now.

They turned her into too much of a good girl.

Who knows, though, maybe she changes once Zack is gone and until Cloud meets her.

Holy shit. Just another reason why this game is so great.

I don't want it to be a 1:1 remake, but I don't want anything changed to drastically, same scenario, different execution with perhaps some added things to flesh out the narrative and world more.

I think the thing I'm most excited to see is what happens when you leave Midgar for the first time, after 6+ hours of crawling through the urban grime, and step out into the world map, and the field music starts to swell. There's no way I'll maintain blackout, but I almost wish I could, just for that. How are they going to handle it? I just can't imagine they'll do seamless world....

That and limit breaks. Maybe they're over the top, but I've missed proper LBs ever since. Meteor rain. Cosmo memory. Cid lighting a damn grenade with his cigar. No matter what you do with the battle system, don't leave these out Square!

Dude, of course they need change somethings that It wouldn't make sense in a more realistic game for example.

I just can't shake the feeling they're gonna make this a censored mini game-less SUPER SERIOUS game.

I mean, you're dismissing that as a bad thing. We don't know if this change in direction is a good or bad thing until we play the game. It could be incredible for all we know.

Changes make sense but it depends on what they're changing. People still want the characters, story and scenario's to be the same. It's things like added content and tweaked game play that people want with this.

It's a tricky situation because I want to know how it's turning out for myself so I don't set myself up for disappointment, but the allure of seeing familiar things in a new light for the first time while playing....

It would be really special.

Not weird at all, I love the original too maybe they could combine them in a way where it's simplistic but not too grand at the same time.

More than likely they are going to remaster the entire soundtrack to what degree is anyone's guess.

Nomura has already said that the weirdness will remain intact. I trust that they'll make this game what it needs it to be. SE has a ton riding on it, at least on the Japan side.

I do hope they change the game here in there. Take the same scenario, dress it up, add some content here, maybe take out some stuff that doesn't work. Just keep the game spiritually the same for the fans while also making it a modern thing.

I welcome this. I like turn based RPG but i prefer action-rpg, pls let it be action-rpg (that's right, come at me)

The fact that they knew to address the original game's weirdness right off the bat gives me faith that they won't disappoint in those regards.

ANY CHANGE TO THE STORY OR MINIGAMES IS A BAD THING

ANY

I can deal with a different battle system and extra content but any changes to the story, characters personalities, or minigames is pure garbage

Ah. Then you should probably stick with the port.

Yeah, exactly. At this point though, half the pleasure of FF for me is following development and related anticipation.

But it could be amazing to get that wholly fresh perspective.
