Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

neorej

ERMYGERD!
Are the people who aren't having too many issues running the game from an SSD rather than a HDD?

I'm on an SSD and in-game performance is better than what most are posting here. Although the videos stutter, especially in the beginning of the vid. Haven't played much, though, but my rig handled the first 30 minutes of gameplay quite well.

30fps isn't acceptable for a 970, let alone a 980+ and anyone who rationalises "it plays pretty smooth with the 30FPS lock on" is a mug.

go get your refunds, give it a one star review and move on with your lives.

I'd imagine theres a small group that also got it for free with a video card so they can't get refunds(ie me)

seeing as i'm stuck with the copy of it (and not experiencing as many awful performance issues that I see posted, feeling lucky about that) I might as well play the thing with substandard performance and enjoy what I can of it

The performance is unacceptable, and they'll get my shitty review for that

Yeah. I mean, everyone should have the same standard as you, right?

Fucking hell. It's fine if you don't find 30fps acceptable but let's not berate people for having different standards.

30 fps on pc is unacceptable. Not berating anyone but I find it funny that the issue is downplayed all over the industry.

Who wrote this? He quotes stuff posted by users, and also calls Origins Oranges.
Lol.

It's not the first time someone called Origins "Oranges". A lot of well known sites have done this, google it.

Why? I have no idea.

Does GMG do refunds?
Refunds or credits will be issued solely at Green Man Gaming's discretion. Refunds may be offered if all the following conditions are met:

- The time of your request for refund/credit is no more than 7 days from time of purchase

- The game has not been activated or downloaded

- The game activation key (including any bonus or beta keys) have not been disclosed to you by email or webpage

- Physical games are for UK distribution only. Any attempt to purchase these outside the UK (using a proxy or VPN, etc) will result in a loss purchase and will not be refunded

- We are unable to process refunds 48 hours before a game is due to be released or preload begins

- We find your request reasonable due to special circumstances

- Paypal refunds CAN NOT be processed after 60 days from purchase

- Goods lost in post will be refunded within 30 days

- Bitcoin transactions can not be refunded or reversed. These transactions are final.

Please note: This means that NO refunds will be offered for MMO titles, Steam, UPlay, Origin and Games for Windows Live (GFWL) titles where the key has been disclosed to you or sent by e-mail. All such sales are final.
If you want the comfort of "if this is shit i don't lose money" you should probably just buy directly from Steam. If you used the 40% off at least you didn't lost out on $60.

Mind to tell me how? Is it better than forcing FXAA?

Depends on your graphics card. If you have Nvidia, I think the the Inspector (I think that's what it's called) has some kind of option. If you have AMD download the thirdparty software RadeonPro.

Add the game's .exe to the profile. Select the SMAA box and set it to Ultra. It's a really good AA that doesn't take a huge hit to FPS.

Got hyped up and got this last minute. Never again lol!

It plays so weird going from 60 to 30 and below randomly. Indoors it runs better but even with the cap on, those stutters fucking suck! Shame on your rocksteady. Shame on you!

Lol.

The Oranges thing is a running gag on Eurogamer.

Leaving work now so can't wait to it try it out on my rig:
Intel Core i7 4930K Unlocked (6 x 3.4 GHZ)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti - 3 GB
16 GB Kingston HyperX Beast 2400 MHz (2x8GB)
Asus RAMPAGE IV EXTREME (Intel X79)

I'm sure I won't be disappointed
;)

Denuvo is surprisingly effective, as far as I can see Lords of the Fallen and Dragon Age Inquisition have yet to be cracked (despite news reports) which is almost unheard of in regards to PC games.

Lords of the Fallen is the only one that isn't cracked. DA:I has been cracked for a long while now.

People can have different standards for sure, but that is irrelevant to attest this is objectively a bad port. The standard is set by other games, and AK falls short of that standard.

If it's a WB PC port, Warn-a-brotha.
I've read this a lot of times. Sorry for my ignorance, but isn't Shadow of Mordor PC port great?

Glad I had trouble pre-ordering it. Will probably buy when it goes on sale or if they fix the problems. And I thought this one was safe, as City and Asylum run pretty well on PC (iirc Origins was kind of a buggy mess when it launched).

Thanks, NVIDIA here. So, SweetFX? I guess that RadeonPro works with NVIDIA cards too, gonna give it a shot. People were not lying about aliasing, even at 1440p the game is jaggy as hell.

Wierd that the image shows SweetFX button but it is actually under the Visual button. I just used that image because it was readable. LOL

Good job, everyone.

Scarecrow unleashed the fear toxen on the PC community. Now, some of their worst fears are manifesting in the new batman game.

- Can Batman offer us any optimization patches?!
- Is there any hope left for us?

POWER UP THE BAT SIGNAL!

gtx 970 30fps im not the batman im stutterman

I got it for free, and I still want a refund.

My powerpoint presentation gets frames faster than this game.

Lol at some reviews.

Ah, so reviews are welcome again. I wonder if a swathe of negative reviews results in the review function being automatically disabled pending manual, uh, review. Review, review, review!

This game runs so bad...did they test it on anything other than a Titan X? I know my card is older (EVGA 670 FTW 2GB) but even Witcher 3 runs way better than this (It's actually very playable).

I guess we can't really blame Rocksteady and at least they're working with the studio who ported it, hopefully get some kind of patch soon.

Man can't get over that low framerate and bad aliasing. Funnily enough first thing I did was find a fireman to rescue, the faces during conversations are laughably bad lol, wasn't this game supposed to have faceworks?

I can really hear the TotalBiscuit video in my head just about now.

He already tweeted about AK and poked fun at ports performance, report will arrive "soon". He has some stuff with his wife atm so videos may be delayed tad. He also made longer tweet about how quite few WB games, including previous Arkham games, has suffered from bad PC performance.

Aside from the fact that SLI isn't working, I am mostly not having any issues running at 1440p. I'm running on a 4770K with two 970s with SLI disabled and the 2nd card dedicated to PhysX, plus 3/4 Gameworks enabled - disabled the smoke/fog effects. In the batmobile, it does drop below 60 fps, typically 55-58 FPS or so, but it doesn't stutter very often unlike what other people have been experiencing. My experience hasn't been 100% stutter free, it is just a rare occurrence.

Hmm, is the stuttering only when driving max speed in the batmobile and gliding? I haven't seen any stuttering when gliding, I'll have to try the batmobile more at top speeds.

I think you're a bit confused.

BF4 on PS4 is anything but flawless and I've been recommended PC versions of games left and right for a while now. This is one of the first exceptions in a long time.

I did complain about BF4 on the PC at launch, though, as I was using a 580 at the time and was pissed off at how bad performance was. I couldn't get anywhere NEAR a smooth 60fps.

Man, I dunno, Rocksteady themselves did a fucking amazing job. The fact that the PC port was farmed out is the issue. Was it Rocksteady's decision? WB's?

The quality of the port depends on the original codebase as well. For instance if the code assumes a 30fps rate and other console specific requirements all over then it becomes incredibly difficult for PC port house to fix that.

Now it would be a good thing for all people posting negative reviews asking for a refund on Steam.
They won't lose money, and they still can buy the game later if WB will fix it for the same price or even less from other retailers.
The only way to show WB something is hitting their pockets.

It's in the top 5 sales but I think a lot of people have used retail or 3rd party sold keys for this because of Nvidia and the fact that it has been readily available for around the $20 mark. If you use a key then a refund isn't an option sadly.

AK is most definitely an underwhelming port for many people but when you have people with 980s or whatever saying that they can deal with 30fps, that shows that they are versatile and can adapt. However, that doesn't mean that they won't choose a 60+fps option if given the choice. Calling them out for finding 30fps playable isn't really needed. They're just as unhappy with the port as most people are.
