I just had a neat idea; would a level like this be possible??

Lemmings
You gotta get a few mushrooms out of question blocks, but you need to get them to follow you to the flagpole (allowing them to pass through obstacles like blocks that can be turned into coins & falling and spinny platforms). The point is to get all of the mushrooms to follow you to the end, and you can force the player to do this by making the final section one long road of spikes that's exactly 4-5-whatever brief-invicibility-after-a-hit lengths long.

...I dunno. it'd be cool to see some straight up Lemmings-ish levels made in this, though.
gonna pick up the game later today. stoked.

I made something simpler & similar.

Follow That Koopa!!!

So should there be a GAF thread that compiles all of the actually good levels? Getting real sick of having to sort through all of the garbage on this game
Not that I'm capable of making anything playable myself--but come on people.

Decent and found secret door :)
Haha, glad someone found it! However I improved the level with some extra stuff and the fire stuff has been tweaked a tiny bit. Hopefully this is more fun:

Vanilla Caves

I will delete the old one. Feedback is welcome!

Just bought it at Target in Minneapolis (the downtown store right by Target HQ). a lady in front of me bought it too and the employee when I asked for mario said " you and everyone else" so hopefully a good sign for sales! also got a free Mario maker rubix cube.

i'm super patient and would have played on till i beat it but since the stages are flowing in, i stopped after ~60 tries. i don't think the stage quite works for me. i like the idea of spacing out the blocks in a non-maximised fashion but the timing of the koopas is just off sometimes, and when they're too high or too low, there's not really much you can do.

I didn't realize it was 60 tries difficult.
I cleared it pretty quickly blazing through.
Maybe it's harder by going stop and go.

I'm ready to try out gaf levels today :) I got very little sleep from staying up all night creating levels.

Look forward to see people's personalities in thier creations :)

Damn that sounds like an idea i was saving for my first level when i get the game later today that involved guiding a mushroom in the uper part of the screen while you avoid enemies so you can catch it in the end and break a brick wall separating you from the goal O:

Was gonna call it "Follow that Mushroom"

Already saw a Lemmings like level with a mushroom you needed to guide to end. I'm sure it's possible to make more complicated versions where multiple are needed.

Wario's Gold Rush

DEE0-0000-0013-A7FC

Just wanted to use Wario collecting coins, quickly.

I think I've seen your course as one of the advertised courses in the game, you know the part where it gives recommendations? There was definitely a Wario's Gold Rush there.

Just finished up what I think is a pretty fun, if not somewhat difficult level:

Ship Brigade Battle!

Also, I'm streaming this for about 12 hours today if anyone feels like stopping in and saying hello, watching me fail at expert 100 Mario mode and create random levels:

Ok there is for sore some button combination I am pressing during the start of a new level that gives the CRT look. (On 100 mario challenge)

I just can't figure out what it is. I can do it by spamming all buttons, and slowly trying to narrow it down.

Did you figure out what this was? Very curious. Asking especially because this sounds similar to the Mega Mario CRT mode that the 30th Anniversary amiibo unlocks.

Nevermind, just saw this--

Yep. I posted it a few pages back, but I guess this thread moves fast. ;)

Hold Down on the d-pad and press B and A together.

Thanks Robin!

I can't wait to get home tonight to dive into this. Have had an idea for a level for a while now. Thing is it's less of a Mario level and more of a sprawling level similar to an area you'd find in Metroid. I want to see if it's possible to create something like that via various warp pipes to extend the length of the level and areas. The attempt is to create not just a level but a world area to interact with to some degree. To see if the game's tools allow for something like that.

Anyone who wants to give me course a try!

It's not super challenging, but it's interesting and more along the lines of a standard mario level... Sort of. I don't pull any dickery.

Damnit, it's official, my gamepad's dead.
Just after a hour of trying Mario Maker too. This must be karma.

On the bright side there'll be a load of GAF levels for me to check out after the months it'll take for them to fix that thing.

That is a real bummer. So sorry to hear it. In the meantime, can you play others' levels using a different controller? Or do you need to send back the Wii U as well?

Will give it a shot.

Noticed 4 people tried my course, but it only have a 20.00% clear rate. Would somebody be willing to test it out and tell me where they die the most?

I gave your course a shot. Is that supposed to be beatable on a blind run? You rely WAY too much on the jumping on enemies to gain altitude gimmick without properly introducing it. Further, one of the pipes you need to clear is out of range of the Bullet Bill cannon you need to clear it, so a player can get stuck at it with no apparent way forward. Also, please don't use Bloopers for precision enemy platforming. They are anything but predictable.

Just picked this up.

First course is 5302-0000-0015-830B

A running start with a long jump extended by the L/R trigger spins will take you almost to the springs. Is that intended?

My first course ID: 7743-0000-0015-7FC9.
Pretty short and I still only have the first tools available, but I tried to at least give some room for failure.

(I want to finally be able to make SMW levels!!)
The level is a bit confusing, do those pipes hanging in mid-air serve a purpose? It looks weird to see them just end. The original game ends mid-air pipes with those unbreakable non-ground blocks. Try that, maybe? Also, your level hinges entirely on the player already knowing that you can run over single tile gaps. Without that, the level is impossible.

Sorry if I'm being harsh. But I'd imagine that turnabout is fair play, no? I have two uploads, I would love to people to be harsh on those.

Stairs and Koopas: EF8A-000-0013-D293
Currently has a completion rate of 50%, which is odd since I meant for it to be easy. People keep falling into the fourth pit, can anyone see why?

Bullet Keep: 5E9C-0000-0015-1400
The idea is World 1/2-ish castle level. Has a Bowser ending. 80% completion rate as of now.

I got some more ideas, but I need to unlock sublevels to do them. When do they show up?

Also, everyone should look in the digital manual and read the ten tips for making a good level in the end. Especially step ten, it is the most important one.

Oh right, this game also works with the pro controller! Well, partly.
Guess I'll snatch one from my friend and unlock some amiibo suits in the meantime.

My first level. Still limited on what I can use, but this one is focused around timed ground pounds and wall jumping, moderate difficulty maybe. Would love any feedback!

So, we know we can get CRT mode without the amiibo, but does it include the other visual features the amiibo adds?
Mustachioed Goombas and the like.
In addition, do we know if there's any way to get the Mega Mario ability without the amiibo, and if it's time-limited when utilized?

Yay! Glad there's a solution for you. Wiimote should work, too.

I'm a little sad that even on the UK version Shulk speaks in Japanese. I was really hoping to collect the Shulk mushroom and hear "I'm really feeling it!", and when he clears a level he could shout "Let's not lose our heads, though!".

An excellent level that is very reminiscent of the game it lent its assets from, it provides a challenge that is always fair thanks to thoughtful design.[/QUOTE]

Aww shucks daydream, I'm honoured to be the first of hopefully many posters highlighted.

The amount of stages in here has unsurprisingly quadrupled now that more people are getting the game, hopefully people's stages don't get entirely lost in the shuffle.
