My second stage...

Highway Stage - 20XX
F6FA-0000-0029-83C7

To be fair, this level is sort of weak gameplay wise---it's definitely one I did more so for the visuals "hey that's neat!" effect than being a challenging level, but perhaps you'll find it fun still. Ending's a bit weak, but perhaps somewhat of a challenge.

And I'm gonna repost my last stage, Bramble Blast ( (C477-0000-001C-6682)) too because last night right when I posted there was server maintenance. :{

Seriously I can't say it enough, the songs on the editor screen are amazing!! Koji Kondo proving to be the king of catchy music. I particularly LOVE the SMB3 Ground theme

Sounds like a Reggae song I LOVE IT!

Tried it. Only bit of feedback I have is that it was easy, but as you've said it was a first simple level, I'm sure you expected that.

Here's my first one, which I didn't think was very hard, but it's at 8% clears, which is actually the highest. Guess I need to find something. This one was made with basic tools.

I swore I wouldn't make any levels but I couldn't resist, so here it is...

8772-0000-0029-6FA4
Vandelay 1-1

It isn't much but please give it a try!

Had a lot of trouble with this one.

Didn't figure out how to get over the Piranha plant on the tall blocks because people are probably going to (accidentally) kill all those turtles.
I had to guess that I could jump high enough to get over that horizontal springboard.
I also had to assume that I could jump over all of those Piranha plants.

Don't take this the wrong way. It was good. I just spent a lot of time with trial and error.

The clear percentages are odd to me. It's like people give up after one try.

I was able to finish this one first try. But that's because I used Lakitu's cloud.

I'm having an absolute blast with the game so far.

Only complaint is that there is so much locked content when you start playing... Like only having one bar of items and only SMB and NSMBU engines at the beginning...I want SMW and not dumb red turtles, damn!! D:

Anyone wants to give me some feedback?

My first level:

Bowser's Ultimate Castle:
0707-0000-0027-A9F4

Pros: Running into Bowser so often and separate from the other encounters gave the feeling that he was chasing you through the castle, which was a really cool effect.

Cons: If I'm right, that feather at the beginning is required to beat the level? (or at least to pass the spin jump area) If so, having it hidden away like that feels a little cheap.

Burning Justice

the superior princess
So I've made three courses so far...

2CDC-0000-001A-0F51 - A basic course with fire-spitting Piranha Plants at its core. Not terribly difficult. Made using only the basic parts.

F87E-0000-0024-67FD - My first attempt at designing a level around Skinny Mario and his increased jump height. This one is a more difficult course. No one so far has even gotten halfway through it, I'm starting to wonder if I made it too difficult...

AD30-0000-0029-A486 - A NSMBU Castle course involving lots of wall jumps, spin jumps, and Thwomps. It's more difficult than my first course, I think, but not as difficult as my second one.

The third one is the one I'm happiest with overall

I'm gonna start playing some of the courses people here made now.

So I just had to try to make a Flappy Bird parody, and I got to say I think it turned out really good if I say so myself. Please try it out!

Nope. The first Bowser is right near a pipe that drops a P-Block that will take care of the blocks in front of the pipe near the Dry Bones.

Just published a new course:

WVW69iYX-MEOnNH2ao

Mushroom Runner
8B69-0000-0029-9E45

It's a course where you're time constrained, and racing a 1-up towards the end of the course while overcoming and solving obstacles. The quickest I was able to finish it was about 20 seconds left, and the 1-up finishes with 5 seconds left - so hopefully that allows for about 15 seconds or so of mistakes.

On a side note, does anyone remember the ice blocks you could kick from Super Mario 3? I was trying to figure out if there was a way to use those for this but they don't seem to be in Mario Maker.

Alright - after 6 long hours and having to deal with the stupid ground-block limit (seriously, I filled both subscreens to the max without being halfway through the level) - here it is:

Doorstop Dash - a remake from the Second Level of Donkey Kong Country 3, of course with some differences considering there are no vines you can pull. It's a rather long level but there aren't really a lot of places for you to die. Near the end I got a bit lenient with the power-ups as well.

Code:
D1E8-0000-0029-AE5E
SJ3eFr4.jpg

If possible, try to beat the level without carrying the P-Switches.

My previous levels:
Sawblade Sneak
A7A6-0000-001E-F40D

Donut Mines
4282-0000-0026-45AC

They both follow the formula of introducing a concept, then another concept, and working it up on them.

I'm gonna try to check out a bunch of gaf posters' levels tomorrow.

If anyone wants to try out mine it's "Koopaplant's Castle". I imagine it as one of the lead up stages to the finale of a Mario game. It's not cheap or unfair and I tried to telegraph and lead the player without holding their hand.

It may be a bit difficult, but fair to an experienced player. Let me know if you have any feedback.

Just finished my first course! "Mushroom Heights 3". I'm planning on making easier versions later for 1 and 2. I designed it to have 3 different routes (high low mid). There are 3 hidden 1ups, since you can't hide star coins. SMW styled level.

I played through Bramble Blast! That was a fun one. :)

Whoever made that Bopopolis-esque stage from DKCR also hit the nail on the head with design. Loved playing through that.

I made a retro Yoshi course. It is incredibly easy as I want everyone to be able to finish it on their first go, and as such it may be a lot more boring than my other courses. I plan on making some more serious levels again tomorrow.

Okay. Completed a whole world set (4 levels). I tried to keep classic Mario styles in mind, meaning every level has at least two completion paths and there are no "miss this item and you're fucked" type scenarios that I see in a lot of the levels I've played.

1-1
0522-0000-001B-B413

1-2
BE2E-0000-0021-CD30

1-3
06A1-0000-0025-A17D

1-4
9750-0000-0027-D85B

Each level gets progressively harder, as well as following the over-under-over-boss structure of classic Mario.

No gimmicky stacked enemies, no trick mushrooms, just OG Mario Brothers style.

Let me know what you think, gonna do a second set once I unlock the rest of the stuff.

Journey of a Special Average 1-Up

I thought it'd be fun to experiment with the physics, so I have a travelling 1-up that can't be reached till the end of the course. Along the way it goes through a bit of a Rube Goldberg Machine. Not an especially challenging course, but I had fun making it.

The title has nothing to do with the eShop game. Just seemed like a nice title for the theme.

So I can't unlock the rest of the creator tools in Course Maker mode. I've made a couple levels, unlocked the first half of the second Tier of tools, but since then nothing new unlocks for me. :( Anyone have any ideas why?

Play for 5 minutes with the new set, it will tell you that you'll get a delivery in the other day - then fill the whole screen with blocks and use everything that has a ! (I think themes, trails all count).

I liked it. I'm looking forward to unlocking the Mario World stuff and warp pipes. One note -- Can you make a different exit pipe in the sub-world? It was a clever enough concept, I like the ones where you have to think a bit.

Its just an extra little help, it is not required at all to beat the level

If you manage to keep it, it makes it shorter (no need to use the P-switch the 1st and 2nd time)

Had a great time playing some other peoples levels tonight after picking up the Super Marior Maker Wii U Bundle at Wal-mart tonight.

I really wish I had all the tools unlocked to make these great levels myself, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what I unlocked tomorrow!

Made what I'd consider to be my first "full" level, complete with sub level. It was a concept that started as something very basic, but became more elaborate, and involved way more use of the grid system than I'd have expected.

Friendly Giant in the Skies

I would call this an exploration/experience level, albeit one with a few tricky sections here and there. There's also some scattered 1-Up Mushrooms to find, if you want to explore some of the spaces outside of the basic path.

Fun level! I had a hard time getting to certain places, but it was nice. I'd suggest considering using well-placed coins to coax players to going in a certain direction.

The single width block pillars on 1-3 were nice. Took me a couple tries.
The Hammer Brother in 1-4 was in a perfect spot to kill someone easily.

1-3 was definitely the hardest. But 1-4 was right behind it.

Got the game today. Haven't made any levels yet but I played a bit of 100 Mario Expert... Some levels were fun but there are plenty of enemy gauntlet things that are disappointing. Also, way too many japanese levels haha.

I'll try to play some GAF levels sometime.

How do you increase the 10 courses upload limit?

You have to get stars to get more uploads. Nice clean looking level, but many of my deaths felt unavoidable, a critical fault with a created level. Maybe ease up on the amount of boos or kameks.

This worked out a lot better than I hoped:

Nice! Haha didn't expect what this level was.

I took a shot at a Super Mario World Level (there aren't enough of these)

It's my first level so it's probably a bit aimless, but any feedback is very much appreciated.

Towers and Tunnels (F1D5-0000-0023-489E)
This is a great, GREAT level. It's too unforgiving at the end with the Koopa jumps, but man this is the first level I've played that feels right at home in Super Mario World. Excellent work!

Fear Factory
3425-0000-0029-B95D

Kind of an odd little journey in an underground enemy factory.

I spent over two hours and lost well over a hundred lives on a single course because about 80 lives ago I reached close to the end.

The way I did it do wasn't actually the way intended as I later found a invincibility star in a block after 70 lives of trying.

Why don't I stop? Because I don't want this course to beat me. Also so I cam feel righteous when I comment when the first part of the level is just poorly designed full on tight spaces, enemies and single block landings.

I'm an incredibly non-violent guy (people not my mellowness in high school) but for the first time in years I felt an incredible urge to punch the creator of the level really hard.

I was going to finish Road House on Netflix but perhaps it's best to unwind with Brain Age: Concentration Training.
