Super Mario Maker |OT| Miyamoto Simulator 2015

Here's my newest level:

P.T.
367C-0000-002C-C9A0

I had fun making it. Figured I should make a gimmick level so I can get some stars :p

I told my wife last night if I don't start getting some stars I'm gonna make the gimmickiest garbage ass level I can and see if people star that.

Tried doing a level based on wigglers on tracks.

I leave the thread for a bit and suddenly there's like 200 new stages, I'm just gonna have to tackle a random grab bag of people's work here.

Took me the best part of 2 days but I finally finished designing my first level to a standard I felt was worth uploading!

I tried to channel one of my favorite game series T E N C H U and make it fair enough that people will complete it!

Didn't finish, but fun !

Phew! Just completed 100 Mario Challenge on Expert with 2 Marios left. Lots of crappy, troll levels but the last one was so good and pure butt-clench at the end. So glad I finally did it.

Since players have trouble finishing my levels I tried to create a basic level that could easily be considered a 'lost level' of Super Mario World. I think it's pretty easy, but we'll see...

Super Mario World Lost Level 1-1
WVW69iYdhpsGWNuZ41

692B-0000-002C-CC6D

Try to find the (second) hidden sub level and all the 1ups.

Only had two people play my latest level. If someone wants to give it a shot and let me know what they think, whether good or bad, I'd like that. It's not meant to be overly difficult, and there are different paths to take. It's in SMB3 style, because SMB3 is best style.

Don't know. I'm at 31 stars and can still only upload 10.

Interesting ! Lot's of creativity !

Here's the 2 courses I've made so far:

Hubble World
WVW69iYVNoQtGoP1Bs

D6F0-0000-0028-5942

It only has 1 clear out of 2 players and 19 attempts. I didn't think it was that difficult, but I guess I am the one that made it.

Hubble World 2
WVW69iYdySMHwhDhKj

07E4-0000-002C-EFE1

This one I think is the better of the 2. Just a note, the bottom route is easy and unless you get hit by something you won't die. The top route is slightly more challenging. The only way to make it to the top of the pole is by going the top route. Also, I like to hide powerups and 1-ups (there's 3 of them) ... but you don't need them to clear either course :p

Play and give feedback and I'll do the same for your level in return!

Long and hard level for people who like that. Hint if you can't beat it:
there are 2 big shortcuts that skip quite a bit of the hard stuff

Hey gaf! Here's my level

Super Mario Land 2 - Hippo level

It's a remake from SML 2, it's more fanservice than fun I guess. Years passed and the water evaporated... but still you'll recognize what was underwater!

Yeah it's pretty overwhelming. I only got to play like 10 gaffer courses today, spent the rest of the time making my level and finishing all the sample courses.

I wish they had a tournament/community thing like Mario Kart; you would join it with one ID code and then you could just endlessly play levels from players within that community, or you could submit levels to that community. Would be amazing.

What's a maker gotta do to get starred?!? Of the 30-ish playthroughs of my three levels I've only been starred once. I feel like my levels are fairly thoughtful and fun, fair but challenging. Maybe I'm being too traditional.

Then I play some 100 Mario Mode and I'm happy to hand out a star to anything with a modicum of thought put into it with all the garbage out there.

It's the same way for me. I give out stars to basically anything I don't dislike/skip when playing 100 Mario Mode, but my levels get a really low star-to-play ratio.

The silver lining to this is it feels really good when I do get a star or comment.

Secrets & Shortcuts is my best attempt at a "proper" SMW course. It's pretty long if you want to see it all.

How exactly do you unlock the
fly swatter mini-game from Mario Paint? I just unlocked it, but I have no idea what caused the flies to appear.
Is it just random?

I am asking again, aside from the example levels, how do I unlock the other stages that come with the game? Or where do I find them?

I think it's just random
, just played it myself as well
. Does it unlock anything if you finish it?

Alright GAF this one took me a few hours to complete. Please play it and give any critique to improve upon it. I must say when you just lose yourself in the creation tool you come up with some pretty amazing things. Was tired towards the end and didn't know how to continue it so I just ended it to upload it and get some feedback, so please, feel free.

Play 10 Mario Challenge over and over until it unlocks the NWC levels. If Coursebot's Sample Courses are full you've unlocked all the premade levels.

I unlocked the
Mario from the box art (wearing yellow and red) for the Mystery Mushroom. When I beat it the second time I got nothing.

Edit: ^ Right, thanks.

How can you make your courses more visible and played by more people?

A course I uploaded 24 hours was apparently played by only 5 people.
And another one uploaded even earlier, got played by 11 people.

Is it because of their low success rate, so they get dumped to mostly Expert mode of 100 Mario Challenge, which I assume isn't touched by a lot of people?

Been working on a single level for the entire evening. This game is a serious time sink!

I've come up with a little story involving Bowser and Mario and hoping to translate it into 3 or 4 levels.

First one is nearly complete. I only need to further test it on usability and add some details. It has different paths and solutions to add a little replayability.

I'll upload tomorrow and share it with you guys.
Now I need some sleep.

So I finally completed work on the first level:

WVW69iYebQkVTxS26N

World 1-1: Bowser imprisoned Mario
17D6-0000-002D-29DE

Bowser, evil King of Koopas has captured Mario and imprisoned him in his castle.
Slowly starving to death, Mario reminisces about his adventures, while suddenly a loud bang echoes through the dark castle.

Our beloved plumber has got some unexpected help from a mysterious ally...

Replayability:
- Different paths
- Find the 3 hidden 1-ups
- Collect 100 coins

The level is rather challenging but I've tweaked it as much as possible so that it never feels cheap.

Hope some of you will take the time to play it and give some proper feedback.
I've spent alot of time on this level to make it as perfect as I can.

Made a third level, nothing too special about this one. Just wanted to make something similar to my first but with SMB3.

28CE-0000-002D-096D - Flower Fields 2

After i get back from eating, i'm gonna try go through some of the levels recently posted here.

Just played 100-Mario Challenge for the first time, and now never want to touch it again thanks to a single troll level that some cunt made to be as difficult as possible in the most unfun manner possible.

This is also on "Normal", so fuck knows how these levels are categorised in terms of difficulty, because whatever system is being used doesn't work.

Swipe the level on the touch screen.

What exactly do I have to do to unlock the 100 levels that are already included? I know a few are fixed, like the 10 Mario Challenge ones or the ones that are example levels after unlocking new stuff. But those add up to not even 20, how do I get the others? Or where are they saved?

Finish multiple 10 Mario challenge runs. You'll get all new levels in each run, up to the point where you get them all. That will unlock the 4 NWT stages. Anyway, you choose and replay them in the same location where you'd load your own levels. Just press - to change to the default ones, rather than your own. Also, there are around 60+ levels, not 100+, that was a mistake.

Slowly working on unlocking everything. Just bought the game yesterday. Was wondering... Is there a way to turn on the prior movement lines that I saw during the live demos of the game on Nintendo Treehouse?

Talking about the ones that show where Mario last moved before you paused the editor? Those would make plotting coin locations and jumps a lot easier than trial and error. I looked everywhere for it, but cannot locate a switch to toggle in settings. Is it a later feature I have to unlock?

On my line of "trying to make them somewhat official-looking" series of levels, I present my newest one:

Pipe Skies

Difficulty around Medium. Feedback appreciated!

My old levels:

Vanilla Caves

The Super Mario Bros made up ghost house theme has no right to be as amazing as it as. It's seriously awesome, but way out of place with the other SMB songs.

But who cares, it's a great song.

Actually all of the new songs are really good. SMW airship is absolutely perfect. It's pretty much exactly what I imagined the Airship theme from SMW would have sounded like.

I really enjoy these, especially the non-gimmicky levels. Okay, one try with the very basic elements:

6A95-0000-002D-0FBC

Learning the ropes...

Nintendo is really hitting it out of the park with this one. Incredible time sink and really great to play levels from others.

Classic course design, my heart rate went UP ! Felt VERY polished level !

It'll unlock as you go.

Basically everything unlocks as you go, the only thing that's available from the start and not obvious without reading the manual is that you can change your "hand" on the TV by clicking in the analog stick.

Humble Beginnings
So I've uploaded my first course. It's pretty basic, but I think that's also the charm. To me it feels like a course that could be in the original Super Mario Bros. It isn't based on a gimmick (like do not touch any button), it has a few hard parts, but all in all its pretty doable for every Mario-player.

So if you just want a nice chill level to play and test some of your skills, look no further than Humble Beginnings. Thanks for playing all!

Information:
Name: Humble Beginnings
Code: 194A-0000-002D-8A7C
Based on: Super Mario Bros.

That's a great one. Was a lot of fun. Maybe give the player a bit more direction with coins or arrows. I had one or two nearly blind jumps there. Mostly at the moving platform after the first green pipe.
