New Dissidia Final Fantasy trailer

Random stage predictions time.

FFII - New version of Pandemonium? I never played II so that's all I know of it.
FFIII - Inside the Crystal Tower.
FFIV - The Red Wings fleet... that or actually inside the Lunar Subterrane this time and not the surface.
FFVIII - Balamb Garden. It has to be this.
FFIX - As much as I want a Burmecia stage, I think it'll be Lindblum during the Festival of the Hunt.
FFXI - I know nothing about XI so I'll just ask for Empyreal Paradox to return.
FFXII - Definitely expect this to be the Estersand.
FFXIV - I got nothing. Never played XIV.
FFXV - Duscae ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hopefully Tactics gets a stage too.

Cloud of Darkness and Ultimecia in HD.

Tifa in a Team Ninja game. They've probably waited their entire careers for this moment.

XIV could be one of the three starting areas, or I guess the Castrum Meridianum fortress.

Just realised, if this game already has summoning, wonder what this means for Yuna? Maybe they'll change her so she's constantly got an Aeon on-screen.

I hope that FFVI gets more stages than Narshe. That looks like such a boring stage. I would love the Opera House. FFV also really deserves the Big Bridge.

Oh same here. I'm just going on 1 per game for now. Big Bridge would be fucking perfect for this game.

The hardware will be able to handle having the aeons on the field instead of just being skins for a spell.

That or they'll turn her into X-2 Yuna.

I'm pretty interested to see what they do with Yuna too. They're changing Butz up quite a bit and giving new moves to everyone else, so I wouldn't be surprised if she got thoroughly revamped.

Maybe her summons will have lower halves xD

Well summons in general are just part of the core gameplay now, so I have a feeling they won't also duplicate them in her moves. Maybe they will focus solely on FFX-exclusive summons like Valefor (which has a strong affinity with her anyways) and Anima.

They could just do Gunner Yuna, Laguna's lonely being the only gunslinger (unless they give Vaan back his gun).

That could change

I like how all the CGI scenes show them getting pounded to bits by mysterious off-screen enemies and then they run off to face off against mysterious invisible antagonists.

Like they're trying to hide that the Chaos side is going to show up, for some reason.

Maybe the Chaos characters' models aren't finalised yet? Or it could be a similar situation to how the original Dissidia was revealed with parts of the opening which omitted characters from shots they were present for in the final version.

Balthier and/or Sazh are pretty likely imo.

Vincent has more of a chance than both of them.

I think any of the FF7 characters are sort of equally likely (provided we get another 7 character...which we probably will). Aerith was already an assist so I kind of assume she would get the spot first. But I could equally see Vincent, Yuffie, Red XIII, Barrett, Cid, or Zack. Probably even Reno too. There's a lot of choices there in terms of popularity...because the entire game is super popular.

Other popular choices (and thus likely ones) I think are:

-Nothing for I, II, II-

Rydia

Faris

Celes
Locke
Edgar
Sabin

Rinoa
Zell
Seifer

Vivi
Beatrix
Garnet

Auron
Seymour
Rikku

-don't know enough about XI-

Balthier
Ashe
Basch

Sazh
Fang

Haurchefant

That's just what I think though. I am sure I am missing some, but these seem to be what a lot of fans consider most popular in general. So I am sure most of the newcomers will be some of these.

I don't think another 1 or 3 character is that likely either (unless they really want to balance the representation for each game; or start adding more original characters and tying them to FFI), but Minwu seems popular enough to be included.

Can we get Xande (FFIII) in this one? He'd punch people and then they'd explode with magic.

latest

I wouldn't mind Xande. His XIV appearance would actually fit in fairly well.

Well apparently Nomura is a fan of Minwu and has supposedly said he'd like him in a Dissidia game. This could be his chance.

I'm sure it's one or both, it just seems odd that they didn't think to reveal Garland alongside the initial set for whatever reason and then act like it's a mystery when it's very definitely not.

I guess they're hoping for Sephiroth and company to drum up interest later on.

Maybe we are going to get full trailer when they are done with villains, I hope.

Or, as someone previously mentioned them needing a forest level, they could do Yhoator Jungle. Plenty of gob trains occurred there.

Characters would keep getting lost and losing sight of each other there.
Then again, Dissidia has a sort of flight to it... On the other hand, all those tunnels...

Sure I guess Minwu could get in if Nomura wants him. I think II is the least popular in the series overall though. I never see anyone talk about it.

I think it would be cool. could lead to interesting ways to split up the enemy team

More like "Jecht's bronzed god body in HD" though

We already have some idea how they'll depict Jecht from the first game's renders. It's HD After Years Golbez I'm really looking forward to. Maybe they'll give him eyes this time...

I hope they bring back some of the fanservice costumes like shirtless Tidus, (blech) Sephiroth and Wearing-a-shirt Vaan.

With near flight that would be simple enough to avoid, unless everyone started out in the middle of a random tunnel.

If you really want to mess with party splits, the Sacrarium would be a better choice, as its walls change periodically. The place rarely gets any use outside a CoP mission and a couple quests though.

This is who I need -

FFVI - Mog
FFVII - Cait sith
FFVIII - rinoa and seifer
FFIX - vivi and Beatrix
FfXII - balthier and fran
Ffxiv - sir aymeric or lahabrea

I'd be pretty surprised if all the costumes just weren't back.

I think they'd aim to include all of the 012 costumes eventually, but I'm not sure how many would end up being DLC...

(blech) Sephiroth

To be fair, with the level of detail used on the player models in this game, they'll probably be forced to give him more visible definition compared to the PSP model's painted-on features. Look at how much Bartz's improved - he's still skinny, but his proportions aren't quite as off.

I just want zack fair, i dont care how he will be a clone or a costume, just give me zack fair pls, but if hes a costume please actually make it zack fair and not just cloud with a wig. Telling you guys, hes the best ff character of all time, crisis core was actually my introduction to the ff7 world

Cecil is looking great. This game looks gorgeous, and they said they were aiming for 60fps? I can't wait for the eventual PS4 port.

Give me Kain though. I guess if this game doesn't straight out bomb, we'll eventually get all the 012 characters and then some.

I hate how Vaan is always the rep for FFXII and he wasn't anything near the main character. The same goes for X and Tidus...Yuna was most essential to the story than he was.

Well they at least added Yuna in Duodecim, so there's hope for Balthier or at least Ashe

Nah, Tidus and Yuna are equal in the story department, bno, actually they push Tidus a bit harder than her. This is my story and all.

The problem with Vaan isf is that he is designed to be player's perspective to watch other characters' main stories to unfold.

And he has a lot less going on outside of being a viewpoint character compared to Tidus, as well. Even if you think his role was executed well in XII itself, representing the entire game with him does seem to be less of an appealing prospect compared to other entries - at least we have Gabranth.

Though I'm interested to see what they'll do for XII characters as they fulfill their plans for post-launch characters - if they want to round out the representatives for every game, we could possibly get another 2; if they don't mind having the playable representation of each game being skewed towards more popular entries, we could conceivably get none at all. And that's not considering whether Ramza would qualify as an XII character by virtue of being from an Ivalice game...

Gabranth was the sole rep for XII in the original dissidia. I definitely expect balthier though given his popularity.

I don't mind Vaan as the representive for FFXII but in that case I would have liked the Adventurer as the representative for FFXIV.

Funny thing is...

*POSSIBLE BIG TIME FFXIV STORY SPOILERS*

It seems like they're setting that guy (and his party) up to actually be the main villains in FFXIV proper. XD

I don't think Vaan's role was that great too. I felt that he was just there in a sense. Vaan ended up being veiwpoint character with lesse role had a lot to do with the script being changed since Basch was planned to be main character in the game. I felt that Vaan was just an afterthought character to fix the issues in the script. It's what messed him up.

Eh, no thanks. I am happy with Y'shtola. There are other good characters in XIV also that they could use. Adventurer (the player character) is literally a no name. I mean sure he's a blank slate, but they sort of already did that with Warrior of Light. I'd prefer an actual character.

I'm so glad I started out in Limsa Lominsca in my brief FFXIV play, I can't wait to try out Y'shtola. Can't really say I'm hyped for anyone else really.

Maybe if best FFIX character
Quina
or FFXII character
Reddas
made it...

Otherwise...I'm looking forward more to the interactions over who actually makes it in.

For the console version, it'll be interesting to see how they handle the story in general; assuming they attempt one. Dropping the Cosmos/Chaos baggage can only be a good thing, but they've yet to prove they can wring anything remotely decent out of the crossover idea, narratively.

Unless they're going to let everyone import their own character, that's a pretty silly idea. I'd much rather they take one of the pseudo-protagonists from the Scions like they have with Y'shtola.

Also at least it's not Thancred.

Y'shtola is damned cool. I was half hoping it would be Heavensward Y'shtola though.
