NPD Sales Results for October 2015 [Up1: Xbox #1]

Batteries the CRISIS!
Captain Toad and Yoshi (though we don't know numbers) have surprised me.

I really wonder what pokKen can do.

If executed right I don't see why it couldn't debut at...350-400k? Or is that too high?

Probably reasonable if Nintendo puts any effort at all into advertising it. I expect it to take that big end-of-May release date next year (May 27) like Splatoon this year and Mario Kart 8 the year before.

Everyone overreacts in this thread the first day, that's why the insiders are waiting longer for everyone to calm down.

Halo may have did "bad" compared to other games in the series, but this is still Halo. A series with fantastic legs. I wouldn't be surprised to see a million sold in November and another sold in December. The series will be ok in the long run.

Disappointing numbers from PS4, maybe the price drop in Japan hurt the WOW sales in the ROTW until the price drops were announced.

Since the Wii U was up YOY in September, maybe that means they were up YOY in October?

Either way, yay at Yoshi.

this doesn't tell me nothing, i just can't see a confirmation where there is none.

As a fan of all 3 game platforms, I do enjoy an NPD shakeup just to see some "console wars" minded people fight over why they think a company is superior. I think Gaf is a great board, but these threads get crazy.

Could low sales overall be attributed to lots of people waiting for Black Friday and Christmas deals?

Certainly seems like it. Especially with all the leaked ads.

Surprised Uncharted made top 10 considering probably 90% of PS4s sold last month were with the game included.

According to ND,80% of ps4 users haven't played any Uncharted. This collection didn't change that considerably in the US.

It is certainly possible, but with a MP game like Halo I think less so. I am waiting out a few games that are coming out Nov/Dec for the holidays.

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
It tells you Halo 5 did barely over 850K, which means it probably sold ~900K.
May Yoshi be more profitable than Halo 5?

It sold better than I thought, if it charted in the top 10. AFAIC I felt it was a very disapointing Nintendo first party game, I had more fun with Touch & Go.

Getting ready to write that pro bono press release? =P
It's a real question. I assume Halo 5 was the most expensive MS first party game in years. Does is remain profitable with such sales? Maybe in the sense it pushes HW.

This article has some interesting tidbits

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2015-11-13-npd-overall-sales-up-2-percent-for-october

"Video game point/subscription cards had a particularly large increase in sales, up 38 per cent from October 2014, making this the best October for video game point/subscription on record," said Callahan.

"Gamepad sales increased by 29 per cent year-over-year which was due to a 163 per cent rise in Xbox One sales with the release of the Xbox One Elite Controller."

The retail market was up 2% overall (hardware + software + accessories)

I was just teasing. Yoshi very well might be more profitable, especially with the massive difference in advertising budgets.

US wth happened? You are killing the videogame industry with these horrible sales are.
Those sales on Halo5 and PS4 pricecut month is bad, the age of videogames are done I tell you, done!

I just wanna see those multiplayer stats for Halo 5 when it's 3-4 months in. The legs will be "telling" then. I hope FyreWulff will be able to break it down again then.

Generally Oct usually have Battlefield and Batman Games isnt it ? in the previous year.

Both AC and Halo have been series which have been on decline and the sales now prove it.

I believe pal has been a good indicator for most of the sales and it seems fallout , cod and battlefront will be really big

How are you enjoying this zero official sell-through data industry, guys? Freaking embarrassing. Moreover, we don't even get sell-in data from publishers at their quarterly reports. The Dark Ages haven't been any darker before.

Anyhow, are the Steam controller early-bird purchases part of this report?

Or he mean world wide install base attach rate?

No, must be US, because he specified attach rate. Applying the US Halo 5 sales to the total worldwide install base doesn't make any sense when talking about an attach rate.

Just need an idea of the US LTD... I'm having trouble tracking down a good number.

edit: someone said 7.5-8.5... and based on John's previous post, I'm guessing H5 did around 800k.

Not for me. I bought halo 5 and it was awesome. I just bought tomb raider as well so my gaming weekend is going to be great!
This is some thinly veiled "I play games, not sales" and "who talks about sales in a sales thread". Sales are bad. For everyone. Especially bad Halo debut.

This shows us we need a crash 1-3 remake. A new sky cooper , motorstorms and I hope sucker punch isn't doing a infamous.

I'd like to guess tomb raider will do sub 1 million but November is a different beast. It's a must buy a gift time. Halo will end up doing ok but that is simply horrible for a halo game. That's getting into a lot of territory of many other series in the past.

Can we get a list of assassin creed numbers? Use to seeing the gloating of ubi pr
