Fire Emblem if / Fates Character Popularity Poll Results

Odin, Lazward and Luna are Owain, Inigo and Severa. Gurei, Matoi and Shara are just new characters based on the Awakening ones, although there's some dialogue that implies they're reincarnations (or previous incarnations) especially in Shara's case.

Gurei, Matoi and Shara may not be the exact same person like the other 3, but like you said, reincarnations of them. They're still literal copies of the previous characters, please hope that doesn't mean that the Tharja archtype is here to stay.

Already chose Luna J. Fry to be Matoi's mother for Revelations because why not.

And chose Lazward/Inigo to pair with Pieri because repeating Olivia and Henry's Dancer+Psychopath

Here are some other playable characters not included in that poll. Spoilers, obviously.

There's a "capture" function that allows the player to capture and recruit standard enemies. Some unique bosses can be recruited like that too. They lack many of the features of the actual main cast though, which is why they didn't bother including them in a poll like this.

If anything, I think these results show that
actual returning characters might carry over their popularity, but that doesn't work for reincarnations/imitations. Tharja was the 2nd most popular female Awakening character, and yet Shara is behind Luna.

So, I don't think they'll repeat characters like those three again, although we might get actual returning characters once more, like Owain, Inigo and Severa.

That's something I wonder in regards to
the Awakening time travelers
, since the 3 of them are still relatively high on the polls, should they really return for Fire Emblem 15? Considering that
Owain and Inigo can have their own child, and Severa being a potential mother for one
it would sound like bad character development if they just suddenly left their families
even if they are only there because of what Invisible History DLC said.

There are some people who say that they should be in sequels, but I think that would hurt more than help.

But hey, if it were a grown up Ophelia/Soleil off on their own time traveling adventures like their fathers, then I can accept that sort of.

So what I'm seeing here is that nearly all the girl designs in this game read notably younger (and largely feebler) than Awakening's while there's still a wide range of ages for the males.

Not good, not good. One of Awakening's strong points was that there were some actual women in the cast.

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. It rubs me the wrong way as well. Because it is distinctly gendered, this is more than just Japanese youth worship.

And that is unfortunate.

I guess I'll have to see how it is when I get the game for myself.

That's not as many Hoshido characters as I was expecting in the top 10.

WOW.

Three of the identical characters are literally the same person (
Inigo, Severa, and Owain arrive in Fatesland because reasons that are stupid
), which I still think is stupid story wise, but gives a reason why they look the same. All the other duplicates are hilarious yes

It's such as shame Camilla is that high

I really hate characters whose whole existence is to pander .

Same. :/

As somebody who loved Awakening, Camilla is the culmination of what I understand now to be what "ruined" Fire Emblem for some longtime fans.

People say that Camilla and the bathhouse are an expected evolution of what made Awakening popular, but I sunk like 600 hours into Awakening and never (literally) ran into cartoonishly huge tits.

Aversa has fairly large ones in her artwork, but not as much in her portrait (though the ones in her portrait are so badly drawn I don't know what to think lmao), also, on her Dark Flier model, they bothered to animate her boobs bouncing <.< (tbh I never noticed this in a fight, but I noticed it when I was looking through the unit viewer)

are they going to be doing more DLC after this?

Nothing is announced right not, but there's really nothing that indicates that they've ended the DLC either. The last DLC map didn't really feel "final" at all and there's still at least one guest character class that isn't available for standard characters (Minerva's Pegasus Knight with S in lances and Dark Pegasus skill set). It has been longer since the season 2 DLC than between the season 1 and season 2 DLC though.

I didn't even remember Aversa. But you're right. Even if the camera doesn't bounce against her breasts, she's conceptually the same character.

I ignored Aversa. Maybe I can ignore Camilla.

Camilla's at number 2? More like she IS number 2. haw hee haw hee haw

For real though, I haven't played the game so I can't comment on the writing, but I'm not a fan of the direction they took the character designs. I'm not even talking about pandering here. The characters' outfits are mostly really crazy looking when in older games they were a lot more subdued.

When did 2nd place become an acceptable position in "waifu wars"? You're slacking OtakuGAF.

Also, Kamui's design is so bland, it tastes like 5 week old turkey leftovers (no dressing).

Man, the quality of character design in Fire Emblem has really tanked.I can't tell about half the cast apart any more. All the female characters have almost exactly the same facial shape, eyebrows, and eyes, and vary only in terms of hair-style, hair colour, and eye colour.

I'd argue the character designs are as strong as they've ever been but there's an unfortunate lack of diversity (race, body type, etc.) on display here. Fantasy seems like such a fertile ground to "let loose" so to speak (and I don't mean with lots of like elves and orcs and other stuff but just in terms of human design) that its a shame that fantasy seems to be a genre where this often gets under-explored or realized :(

To put it another way, take any one of these characters on their own and most (not all of course) look pretty cool/sweet. Put them all together, next to each other, and then.......er.......hmm........yeah

I hope that includes the characters that pander to your particular tastes :p

But then again if you like it, it can't be pandering right ;-)

I hadn't really seen many of the characters and now that I'm checking them out to see which are my favorite ones design wise, and damn I love Kinu's design even if I'm not into.... well ya know.

I need this damn game already.

I'm with you. :(

In Awakening, the excuse for some odd designs was that it was a way to show that two thousand years had passed, but without progressing the technology. Here though, they didn't even acknowledge it. It's clearly just the direction preferred by the new art designer that took over with Awakening.

Well my tastes certainly don't involve
incest subtext and having a character wanting their adopted sibling to bathe with them as a support.

The best way to pander to me is to have characters with actual character.

Doesn't Charlotte have something along the lines of skimpy outfit yet good character?

I haven't read all of her supports, but it seemed to be the case.

Yeah she faired a lot better than Camilla in the supports and generally has more traits besides being thirsty for the main character.

Cartoonishly huge tits, but at least she has a phallic-shaped belt poking up between them for... uh, armor.
