IGN GOTY 2015 & People's Choice: The Witcher 3

I really wish I could have gotten into the Witcher. I went from Bloodborne combat to the (pre patched?) combat of the Witcher and was not having fun. I eventually quit after 20 or so hours. Maybe I'll eventually try to get into it again.

Come on, you know Bloodborne is "objectively" the best game ever made in earth and beyond. Critics and people's choices are earth problems, Bloodborne is God realm.

Bloodborne already has it on lock, by a lot. But gaf is very pro Sony.

Have a look at the voting thread; it seems like it will indeed be GAF's GOTY. I was really hoping Bloodborne would at least win here, but it doesn't seem likely anymore.
Everybody can vote for whatever they want my dude.
In the end, I think everybody won. What an awesome year for the industry.

Well deserved. One of the best games of all time. A truly revolutionary game. Something people will remember for decades. It will go down in the history as the game that defined this generation. 100+ hours full of engaging quests with a truly remarkable story and genre bending gameplay.

Its just the most mainstream and accessible of the top games. Being popular does not make something the "best", just look at Oscar wining movies compared to top grossing movies.

It's a great game but not as great as Bloodborne imo.
Nah. Geralt is done, his story is finished unless the plan on doing Last Wish type DLC vignettes forever.

As usual, the first post isn't thought out very well (which is probably why it is the first post).
Nintendo swept the GAF awards last year.
Atmosphere isn't really what W3 is loved for, and it is one of the things Bloodnorne is loved for.

It's not like Sony exclusives win every year. And even for the year's that they do win, it's not like it's undeserved or anything because they're generally games at the top of their genre...
There was jackshit for PS4 last year as well. But the Nintendo Trinity of that year was pretty fantastic.

My favourite game of the year by an enormous distance. MGSV and Bloodborne were great titles in their own right but The Witcher 3 was pure magic for me.
Aren't you forgetting some things called "story", "characters" and "dialogue" that the game excels at?
Exclusives tend to inspire a certain fervor. But last year though Bayonetta 2 definitely deserved it. Bloodborne is undoubtedly going to take the GAF vote although Witcher will definitely be 2nd. BB is a worthy pick but I personally enjoyed Witcher 3 way more.

One of the few things I like more than The Witcher 3 is people getting legitimately buttfrustrated about it winning arbitrary GOTY awards over [insert favourite software].

Not true at all. Remember, both Witcher 1 and two were considered pretty niche, hard to get into RPGs and the Witcher 3 isnt any less complex or easier than its predecessors. What made people love witcher 3 is its unprecedented quality in relation to scope. Its not "mainstream" in any meaningful regard, beyond that it sold well because it was great. The game certainly does not hold your hand the way most established main stream franchises do. I get that it might not be your favorite game this year, at least come with a meaningful argument.
Yeah I know this is a minority opinion nowadays but I'd prefer something with better gameplay mechanics win game of the year over something with better dialogue and story.
Man you don't even know how much fun I've had with this.

Well deserved. It was the second or third best game in a year full of great titles.
NeoGAF definitely looked kinda funny when they had Bayonetta 2 win GOTY instead of the ign choice of Dragon age inquisition. Did I say kinda funny? I meant kinda fantastic.

Don't worry. I'm sure when Bloodborne wins on GAF, the remainder of the Internet will conveniently and magically "poof" out of existence.
I doubt it was even elegible since I never participate in the GAF voting, but I would have laughed so hard if TLOU remastered won.
