That look on Cruz's face after Trump eviscerated him reminds me of the scene on The Simpsons where they slow-motion analyze the video of the child's heart breaking.

Very strong performances by Rubio, Trump and Cruz

I think the New York comment will play the most in media and will benefit Trump greatly.

It seemed like a simple attack in Cruz's mind, NY is blue, progressive, liberal, and will continue to be, but Trump used the 9/11 card and killed him with it.

Christie needs to let go of Hillary attacks, he wont get nominated, and he does not need to convince the base to chose him over her, its a moot point.

You'd think that a Republican candidate would have already interiorised the capital importance of 9/11 in national politics and how New York is more or less hallowed ground.

Is the "real America" strategy even a thing these days?

Watching Trump talk China and economics, you see a man in his element. He talks with complete and utter authority, he has testicles the size of a dome stadium. I bet most people have no clue what he is saying, but they notice the way he is saying it. He is a tier if not more above the rest. The jokes and quick wit humor is replaced by bravado and complete understanding of what is going on.

Really might be his best performance so far. He was excellent and sharp.

If I had to get mad to type out a short sentence joke over posts like that I'd have died from a heart attack years ago. On the contrary, I'm barely able to stay awake right now.

Of course, too tired to refute what i wrote, so you wrote a snippy bad joke.

Go to bed, take care of your heart and see you tomorrow, friend.

There's nothing to refute. I just thought you were gushing a bit too hard in public. Now that I see it touched such a nerve, I can tell you were REALLY infatuated.

Can we not do this, please?

I find it extremely amusing the thing that could potentially tank cruz was a dog whistle attack on the jewish-liberal establishment.

The wahjah was through the fucking roof.

Trump only came out of this more powerful. Funny how actual policy discussion feels out of place on the stage. Just a circus act. And Cruz got hit with a haymaker on that NY statement lol.

All in all, more entertainment.

Absolutely. Was one of Trump's finer moments in the debate besides slamming Cruz down on NY Values.

Cruz should have gone after Wall Street. His New Yorkers are this and that was monumentally stupid.
He's not going to hear the end of this from NY, they don't take any shit.

What is a good, entertaining, really non biased (well, or at least not so one sided either way), podcast to listen to that covers all of this stuff? I want to hear some funny folks talk about what thought, haha.

Sam Seder's show on youtube will be covering it later today. They're always entertaining.

I think The NPR Politics podcast is just terrific, ive been listening for months now and it really hits the spot of being entertaining, sometimes funny, and I'd say maybe too unbiased if anything. They don't buy anything the politicians say at face value, Dems or Reps.

I recently found out about that podcast but hadn't been moved to check it out even as a daily NPR listener. You motivated me today though. Thanks!

If anything, I wished Trump would have laced into Cruz even harder, but that's probably just the New Yorker in me coming out. His response was measured and (semi) tasteful. Weird. Looks like the media is picking up where Trump left off though.

My taxes are kind of complicated honestly. I have no idea what the fuck to put for half of the things. I tried sending it to an accountant and they want like $1500 to do my taxes. I don't know man, the tax code is pretty damn complicated.

And TurboTax can go fuck itgself. The IRS has enough information to basically send us a tax bill that is just flat out correct for 95% of people. But they can't because of the TurboTax lobby group which fights to keep the IRS from being able to do that. It's a travesty and a sham.
The complicated part is finding what deductions you quaily for. You can just ignore deductions and pay the full amount before deductions...which is what you're asking people to do when you advocate for a flat tax. People go from paying zero to thousands in income tax.

I enjoyed filing, go figure. There are some awesome deductions like Savers Credit.

Seeing the Frank Lutz nonsense on my Facebook feed this morning. He of course found a panel who overwhelmingly thing that Cruz won the debate. Strange how his paid-for-by-Fox results never match what Republicans actually think. I wonder why that is...

Focus Groups are never representative. They're interesting because you can find unique ideas in there.

Wow, Cruz did not come across very well. He started out strong with the birther question (also, him saying "I'm glad we're focusing on the important issues tonight" re: the birther question strikes me as being disingenuous. It is an important question - it's your eligibility for being the president!) along with this weird-as-hell VP exchange with Trump that he ultimately won, but faded into obscurity as the debate went on with two big missteps - the New York Values thing and Rubio suddenly unloading upon him in the final minutes of the debate.

I have no idea what Trump was talking about with the China thing, but he spoke with authority, he got the crowd going, and there was a brief silence after he finished speaking. While initially booed a lot, I think he got the crowd over to more-or-less his side by the end, with Cruz receiving the more significant boos later in the night. Curious to see how the polls turn out re: Trump vs Cruz. I think everyone else other than Rubio by this point is irrelevant.

Carson was pretty funny tho.

Trump killing Cruz with a successful 9/11 comment was easily the highlight of the night. I honestly don't think Cruz will come back from that. At this point he's trying out for Trump's VP pick.
