Gametrailers: Top Ten Games in 2016 That Might Suck

"Could only imagine"...? You've never had people criticise your work before?

Tough luck if this is all it takes to upset them. Gotta learn you can't make everyone happy.
It's a bit different when its not even out. Some of these are pretty close I suppose, its just dickish to assume they'll suck. I get that criticism is necessary in this industry, its just a bit early for some of these

The cynicism in the modern gaming community is officially palpable.
They just talked about a lot of these games in their podcast on Thursday, and they made a point to say something positive about each and stress that they don't suck. I'm assuming they say it in the video too but I can't watch it right now.

I have never understood the doom-sayers for Star Fox Zero. Still don't. Almost all of the "this is gonna suck" reaction I have heard is based solely on it not having ultra-realistic graphics. Which is an argument coming from the second most annoying kind of gamer out there. They don't seem to get what visual style the Wii U tends to aim for more often than not. Or what visual style Star Fox games have always aimed for. I mean they literally did the visuals argument in this video and did some hand-wavey argument about how the gamepad sucks (and it doesn't, honestly). They're just not very good arguments at all.

It's not a bold move to predict that No Man's Sky might suck. Everything I've seen makes it seem like it has the lasting appeal of 10 minutes.

I hope No Man's Sky doesn't suck I'm considering buying it day one. The last game I bought day one was wind waker that game was cool..I hope No Man's Sky is cool

I hope Mighty No.9 is a good game, I don't expect a masterpiece though. But I can see how the game will not live to the expectations of the first days of the KS campaign and all the bad blood toward Inafune.

seems a fair list - of those I only really really want No Man's Sky so if that sucks I will be very bummed about that. The others are all games, Battleborn aside, I might pick up on sale down the road.

Horizon is my biggest worry given who the developer is.

Agreed. I'm very surprised how high it was on Gaf's most anticipated.

This isn't just regular Guerrilla they have expanded and have many talented people working on this game.

Director: Mathijs de Jonge (Director of Killzone 2)
Writer: John Gonzalez (Lead writer of Fallout: New Vegas)
They hired I think two big people from CD Project Red to help with the open world and questing.

And has been in the cooker since Killzone 3 finished.

A very solid list. I'm worried mostly about Mafia III turning into a generic GTA clone.

Oh, and I'd also add ME Andromeda because of a risk of turning even more into a shooter. Or, even worse, into a collectathon like DA:I.

I'm surprised that FFXV is not on the list.

My hype for it is as high as ever and I really enjoyed the demo, but I know that many people are still skeptical. And for good reason.

I think that the majority of the staff enjoyed the demo and the news, Ian enjoyed it, for Kyle the demo alone was nearly his favorite game of the year, pretty sure Ben has played it/ enjoyed it but can't remember an video where he said it.

I don't think Blood or Brandon played it (to my knowledge, Blood could come in and correct), Huber only hasn't played because he wants to go in fresh.

A very solid list. I'm worried mostly about Mafia III turning into a generic GTA clone.

Oh, and I'd also add ME Andromeda because of a risk of turning even more into a shooter. Or, even worse, into a collectathon like DA:I.

I more worried that Mac Walters is creative director or Chris Schlerf (Halo 4 writer) is lead writer.

A little surprised Doom wasn't on here. While it LOOKS awesome, everyone is pretty skeptical of modern id, rightly so in my opinion.

I hate to see Mighty No. 9 on this list even though its very much justified. I was so hyped when the KS was initially announced.

You can also add me to the list of those who think NMS and Starfox will suck.

I'm gonna be really sad if NMS is not good. As long as the exploration is interesting and there is enough variety between planets I will be satisfied.

It's one of four games I will be preordering this year and I have the money set aside for it already.

My others are Zelda, Horizon, and Deus Ex. I feel pretty good about all of those.

Gears 4 - franchise fatigue
Uncharted 4 - franchise fatigue
Recore - too much hype, no info
The Witness - long dev cycle, too many puzzles
Battlefield 5 - franchise fatigue
Mirror Edge - one trick pony
Cuphead - style over substance
Horizon - open world fatigue
COD - more more COD
Yooka Laylee - old mechanics and not the same charm

Now I don't actually agree with anything I've just typed but it's as valid as GT's list.

Top Ten Games we're worried about.

Or

Top Ten Games that might suck.

Clickbait is clickbait.
Wasn't Cuphead delayed because of the lack of substance?

Not sure if it will come out in 2016 and even though I backed it with $150.00 bucks or so, I think Shenmue 3 might suck. Just get a bad feeling, I hope I am wrong because I loved the first 2 games, but this is one that worries me.

I agree with Battleborn and Quantum Break. The Battleborn demo was terrible and everything we saw from Quantum Break looked boring as hell.

I'd honestly put Horizon on that list.
I personally like Guerilla but their games aren't very popular or universally liked.

They made 4 linear shooters and most of them were met with mixed reactions (again, I liked them but other than 2 they don't get a lot of love around the internet). So I'm not sure if they will deliver the mindblowing open world RPG that a lot of people seem to think Horizon will be

I think storytelling in particular is one of their issues. Killzone has a really interesting world and backstory but with 4 entries in the franchise (5 if you count mercenaries) they couldn't deliver a fun or interesting plot even once.

Such a weird list to make. Cant ever game that comes out suck?
The possibilty is there for every game.
It's a list about 10 high profile games that might end up sucking and these are the 10 they think have the highest chance of doing just that. And they give reasons for each choice (Mafia III looking like it has too much over the top action, Quantum Break having that tie in live action show, Hitman being episodic on focusing on replaying missions, etc).

Doesn't seem that weird to me

Good list. I don't think Quantum Break will suck, but it has the potential to be average as hell. The others, yeah, they could end up sucking. I'm terrified for Star Fox, and welcome any and all delays

That battleborn ending commentary is precisely why i have no freaking interest in this title.
It's like they did all the bad marketing steps why their concurrents have done much better with less time.

The only glaring omission seems like FFXV. Other than that, it basically echoes my own doubts.

Don't exactly understand the defense force for QB. I loved Alan Wake, but between the generic looking third person shooting and the unclear in quality "show" they have integrated into the game, I think there's every reason to have doubts.

I think battelborn certainly has the potential to suck but the reason they give for concern in the video (attitude, forced humor) was not the first on my list. Don't think there is a lot of narrative.
