LEGO |OT5| DARKNESS! NO MONEY! (or Break the Rules! Mix the Bags!)

I got two Paladum, mostly for the new half rounded tiles. Built one for fun - he's horrendous. Like Lego version of Ludwig horrendous.

Also built my Infernox that came with my latest PAB order. And just as I'm done, Bricks & Pieces opens up again, so I make an order and pad that out with the mech. And that's me done with Nexo Knights for now, I think.

Stopped in at my local Fred Meyer before work this morning, and FINALLY a store in my town had the Series 15 minifigs. I decided beforehand I really only wanted the astronaut, the knight, and the patient, but this is my first time buying minifigs and I felt like I was doing an awful job at feeling for parts in the bags. (Seems like the bag design kind of discourages that anyway.)

I felt out 3 bags that I thought might be something I wanted, but wasn't confident at all. Ended up getting frustrated and grabbed 2 more bags at random. When I opened the packages at work, it turns out I'd picked (1) a knight, (2) a patient, (3) two astronauts, and (4) a wrestler. I don't care a lick about the wrestler, but I'm pretty stoked at my success with the others!

This LEGO stuff is getting out of hand for me already. First I was like, "oh, I'll just buy the Holiday Toy Shop, and maybe I'll get another holiday village set next year." Then I started thinking, "man, some of those DC Comics sets are looking pretty slick." So I bought the Superman v Batman stuff. Now I have five minifigs, am eyeing some of the new Mixels, and am even warming up to the idea of these dang Nexo Knights...

That is how it begins. Soon, you'll have a backlog and will be buying sets you don't even really want because the reviews were good and it's going out of print soon :p

Edit: The trick with the minifigs is to feel for one specific thing. Each minifig usually has a single unique identifier. In the astronaut's case, its the flat flag with two clips. The knight is the spiky ball / shield and the patient is the crutches.

Did a quick scan and didn't see anything, but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with the Scooby Doo sets?

Was just scoping out the Mystery Machine and the Plane sets since their cheap and nostalgic fun. Are they decent builds? Wouldn't mind having them on my shelf even though their pretty small.

I was initially disappointed with the Mystery Machine (at reveal) because of it's size but really enjoyed the build (despite the stickers). Very fun indeed! I can recommend the Mansion as well so you get the whole crew plus it's very fun to make with lots of cool details.

Yeah the mansion looks sweet too, but I'm saving some of the over-$50 purchases right now for Ecto-1, Millennium Falcon, and maybe Ewok Village. Those will be tougher to come by since I'd feel bad not talking to the wife before dropping that kind of money on a LEGO set.

Under $50 seems to be a reasonable threshold to just show up at home with...haha

Also, thanks for the input! I want the whole cast, but I may start with the Mystery Machine and then work my way up to the Mansion!

Fair enough, I'm mostly in the same boat :p

I would definitely say the Machine is worth it.

Wish I love the mystery machine more. It nicely design, but the sticker galore is a bit off putting, especially when it kind of ruins some of the details, like the mystery machine logo on the sides. Wish those were printed least.

The entire thing absolutely should've been printed.

I would recommend getting the Mystery Mansion before the Millennium Falcon. MF just came out but Scooby-Doo has been out since Aug/Sept and the reception has been a bit lukewarm. I could absolutely see Lego pulling another Monster Fighters situation here and ditching the theme early, even with all the licensing in place for annual Lego Scooby-Doo movies. Plus, the Mansion is about $60 less than the Falcon.

The order you should go is Ewok Village (if you can even find it, I think it's on the cusp of retirement), Mystery Mansion, Ecto-1, Millennium Falcon.

Ecto-1 is getting a longevity boost because it's extremely popular, the Firehouse HQ just came out and it fits inside, and the Ghostbusters reboot is coming out in a few months. Millennium Falcon is about a month old and Lego sets, especially something like the Falcon, usually last a minimum of one year. Ewok Village is the one most in danger of going away forever but I'm personally starting to worry about the Mansion because I haven't picked it up yet and I will be livid if I miss it and never get to complete The Gang like I did with the criminally short lived Monster Fighters sets. Lego has some kind of strange aversion to Halloween-y themes.

The Fred Meyer I stopped at is selling Series 15 for $4.99. Were they $3.99 at your store?

Was looking for something to kill a little time this afternoon and liked the look of Rey's Speeder set for $20. These little ~200 piece sets are a great way to kill an hour or so!

Bonus BB-8 from my X-Wing set!

I somehow missed this set completely lol. Might go get it this week.

Just a heads up that BB-8 isn't included...I had him from my Poe's X-Wing set and thought he looked good in the picture.

Still loved building the speeder...just a short build but it came together nicely!

EDIT: I forgot I had put this in the spoiler.

Thanks for the tip!

I was actually just at the LEGO store and the manager there told me the Ewok Villiage was hard to find for a while because of a production error and it's back in stock now...so it's good to know that other sources have it close to retirement. They had 2 on the shelf, maybe I should've grabbed one :-\ (This is how I'll go broke.)

EDIT: Sorry for the double post...was trying to edit my previous post and got lost in between tabs.

We actually assumed it was already retired at my store because we hadn't had any in stock for months. Then we randomly got in like 6-10 of them a couple weeks ago, they disappeared in a couple days, and now we're back to questioning weather or not we'll ever get them in again or if they're gone for good this time.

Occasionally, Lego will put older, almost retired sets as online-only to save space for newer products in stores. It's also been rumored that they're dragging out its retirement because the replacement UCS set, the Hoth one everyone's waiting for, was apparently supposed to come out by now but it got delayed because of ???

All good to know! It's actually my wife's favorite set that I've showed her, so maybe I can work some magic before this thing goes out of print.

Would be a nice offsetting present to the flowers/candy/jewelry coming up for her in a couple weeks...

The logo makes it more difficult to MOC into a bigger vehicle to fit the whole gang. Not that I have the pieces in that blue.

I wish that set had come with a net. For some reason I assumed it would.

Same here. Looks like the luggabeast in the next series includes that. The two paired together would probably be a nice little display.

Yup read that :) I love Rey and her speeder, it's my current Facebook cover even. I'll get BB-8 at some point I'm sure.

LEGO physical Store sale

Several Ninjago sets are 20% off at my local LEGO store. 20% off all Airjitsu flyers, R.E.X., and a couple others. YMMV. I haven't checked website to see if they had similar sales. Surprised no websites listed sale unless the sales are store specific.

I was hoping to find last wave of Mixels on sale, but they just put them in the back. Somehow I missed the last wave or I stuffed it in my backlog and can't find them.

Bought 13 CMFs to get the freebie with $50 purchase. Next months freebie is much better IMO especially with lower $35 threshold. Holding off on PAB purchases until then. I'll go back tomorrow to grab some 20% off Airjitsu flyers and try to get some more CMFs.

Weird question:

Anyone here with the Ninjago blaster bike 70733 can confirm to me that in the extra parts there is one more flexible hose like this one:

http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=57539&idColor=95#T=S&C=95&O={"color":95}

Set should have definitely one since its part of the build, but bricklink lists one more of the same in the extra parts. Can someone confirm?

Reason I am asking is that I am considering getting this set because it contains quite an amount of parts I require and these 2 hoses are very handy to make up my mind.

Thanks.

So that bricks and pieces on S@H people were talking about being back on Feb. I'm not seeing it yet, was it supposed to be later in Feb? I'm really not wanting to buy Rhino/Sandman set and i'm crossing my fingers hoping they have the Sandman fig pieces on there. Maybe even the Spider-man booties.

My supervisor found a Left Shark for me to hold in my apron. And taunt kids that are looking for one

Maybe not that reason, but that is what I'm gonna do

Thanks, found it. I thought it would be a list of available parts but you have to search by set number. Ugh, nothing useful to me but i'm sure some moc'ers will love it. They had Sandman legs and wig but no head or torso. Spidey booties but If i have to get the set for Sandman then whats the point. Looking at making a Sheev and new Darth Vader from the final duel set but again they don't have all the parts. If anyone is interested they did have both Vader's new helmet and the collar and also the heads for both Vader and Palpatine.

All Lego games have pre-orders.

Excited for the game and I'm interested to see if they do anything else different this time round. Jurassic World and Lego Avengers are sort of different to the others. Great fun.

I did not like the amount of studs, so I decided to modify a bit my 75105 Millenium Falcon's interior and the first results are in:

I also did some external modifications, mandibles are fatter, and there are some small extra details here and there. (but not much because I like how the exterior looks apart from those mandibles that need to be bigger)

Bonus shot of my Force Awakens collection:

It is still a work in progress, but I would love some feedback for the interior, but please be kind it is my first mod. I am kind of a noob in that department. :D

I really like the way the floor looks in those shots, it adds extra details that makes the original model look quite basic in comparison. If I ever get the MF, I'll probably mimic your mod :p

The mandibles look good too!

Just built the Ghost Micro Fighter and I think it's my favourite so far. It certainly makes up for the underwhelming FA X-Wing.

40% off pre-order on LEGO star wars the force awakens (regular edition only) amazon prime pricing error

hurry before they fix it!

That's going to be a popular (and expensive) fig. At least we finally know that's where the polybag has been allocated. I'd just assumed it would be a May 4 promo.

Awesome, thanks! Just got my $38 pre-order in. Wonder if they'll honor this. It was pretty clear the prime savings were duplicating as they were on separate lines in the price summary. Seems easy enough for them to retract that. We'll see!

Darn, seems like I missed out on the pricing error by a few seconds. I tried to add it to my cart and got an error. When I go back to the page now it doesn't give an option to buy from Amazon.

First time since Jurassic World I am stoked about a Lego game again (and before that Lego Marvel was the last one I played). Might grab that sexy collector's edition if it makes it ways to these shores.

How awesome is it that you don't have to pre-order at gamestop anymore to get the minifigure? YES!

please make this the norm going forward.

The R2 unit and the C3PO with red arm playstation exclusives... Are they mini figs? or are the exclusive characters for the game it self?

In other words.. if you buy the deluxe Ps4 edition... do you get 3 minifigs?

Deluxe Edition comes with a real plastic finn in stormtrooper gear minifigure. Everything else shown is DLC. BTW, the Playstation exclusive content is timed. So other platforms will get it eventually.

Is that minifigure any different from taking a Finn head and putting it on any regular FO Stormtrooper?

Yes it's different it has a sand blasted look to it (pic on the previous thread page)
