Always second version and always water starters (except in weird cases like third versions and whatnot, where I'll sometimes make an exception). And as much as we have zero information, I'm still hyped for the new games as I love me some Pokemon.
And for what it's worth, the Pokemon Adventures manga is actually solid stuff for kids manga. Like, I wouldn't go recommending it to anyone who isn't a fan, but it's definitely at least a hell of a lot better than the anime is.
...I don't have anything new to say comics-wise, except that the New X-men trades are lower quality than I thought. Apparently it's cheap glue holding them to the spine, as the pages of the book largely fell loose of the spine when I was reading the 5th volume. Like, the bottom tip still held on so it wasn't completely separate, and the pages are still absolutely holding together, but... I may need to upgrade to a nicer set of something for this series, even though I'm not the sort to be especially picky with such things usually, as these are hella cheap feeling.

It's stuff like this that makes me so wary of Dawn of Justice. Not the marketing, but just how much Snyder relishes in recreating 9/11 for a superhero punching movie. Also, looking forward to that product placement.

I had a Hypno in Blue that rekt fools. Dream Eater all day.
So I remembered talking about how much Green Lantern and Flash Rebirth sucked, and I got to thinking about how good Quiver, the story that revived Oliver Queen back in 2000 by Kevin Smith, was.
It's the one good story about an old character returning to take the mantle, celebrating not only the past, but the future that had since come. Ollie walks straight out of the 70s into a world where his best friends are dead and he has a son, and finds a place for himself in a world that's changed.
Admittedly, the parts involving Stanley & His Monster were, well... not very good, but I liked it in that kind of "this all takes place in a shared universe" way that DC used to be good at.

Red Lanterns Vol. 4: Blood Brothers
I think this is really a perfect example of building off of existing groundwork. Soule takes the foundation Milligan provided (the characters and the setting) and gives it a plot that's worth a damn. Along with some on point dialogue. While I feel like it's mocking Atrocitus a bit too much (as soon as he comes in to power he gets it taken away and mopes like a bitch in a corner), on the other hand it's funny and provides a perfect example of a long-form story arc.
I also greatly appreciate how now that Guy is there, Rankorr effectively becomes a moron. Zillius having to explain why a Dyson Sphere is a big deal to him is hilarious. It still upsets me a bit that Rankorr is this super special flower and even though Soule is playing him off to be some sort of asshole who just lucked into having special abilities, it bothers me. It bothers me that "luck" is all it's played up to be. I'm not a fan of "Chosen One" stories all the time, but this is one time where a "Chosen One" story wouldn't be a bad idea. I mean for better or worse, Red Lanterns is a series steeped in space magic. Of course, I love Guy, and I love how Guy convinces himself to be angry.
Honestly, this is gonna be a fun book. I like Soule as a writer normally, so I'm enjoying this book based on that alone, but the beginning of his run is really solid. Bringing down the corps to just six or so members and building each of them is awesome. Creates a much stronger book from a character perspective. I'm really gonna enjoy the rest of this book, I feel.
Also Dex-Starr the best.

The Uncanny Inhumans #5
I see we have more Secret Wars stuff coming into the main universe. Secret Wars is actually being way more influential than I thought. I miss McNiven's art, now. I don't like Peterson. Too stiff. Still, my boy Black Bolt will not be stopped in his attempt to take over the New York nightlife into his domain. Will keep reading, obviously.

I don't...much like this book, I'm very torn. I like the cosmic stuff, but then I kind of like the college stuff, but yet somehow the two are negated by each other and I just don't care? This book bores me. I'll give it one more issue and if it doesn't pull me in by then, we're done.
Power Man and Iron Fist #1
Oh my god this book is a Disney cartoon. Like, this is the show that I would be excited to wake up and watch, and then years later, after I missed out on most of it, I decide to go back and watch it and realize that it was always godlike. Not just nostalgia. I will continue to wake up excitedly for this book.

Isn't Quiver one of the very few stories written by Kevin Smith that people think are good? Aside from his Daredevil run and Batman '66 Meets the Green Hornet? Because I know his Batman books and his Spider-Man run are certainly not favorably viewed.
