Final Fantasy XV Boxart

God, even the boxart makes it look like a dude bro roadtrip...

Sigh, I really want this to be good and all, but I feel so disconnected from the game I have seen so far....

Oh well. Here is to hoping!

Not into Final Fantasy at all but that standard cover art is pretty awesome IMO. Deluxe cover kinda looks like an unfinished school drawing.

That normal cover is gorgeous. It really sends home the message (along with the "Stand by Me" cover) that the game focuses on friendship as a main theme. I'm looking forward to some really good character building in this game. That cover also looks like it can be the poster for a "coming soon" movie that you'd see in the lobby of a theater. I think they're really hitting the nail on the head when it comes to pushing modern FF's into being these huge cinematic universes.

Chocobo crossing sign is a nice touch and made me chuckle.

Dammit, I fall more in love with the standard cover each time I see it.

Also white background, because Final Fantasy.

Wow, I actually like the standard cover. Better than just a boring render of the protagonist like in FFXIII.

I love that the car made the cover.

Reminds of the Xenoblade Chronicles X cover in thematics. The four main party members with their backs to the camera and their vehicle. Looking out at the world which is the main point of the game.

In X it was the alien world of Mira and in XV it's the open road as it's a road trip game.
You are absolutely right. It's a very nice looking cover and it shows what the game is all about.Although at the end i still prefer the logo on white background.

So is Ignis that one jerk ass who slows the car down for his friends to get in only to speed up right when they reach for the door? That makes the cover so much better.

Meh, FF4-6 were kinda already there and the others got the logo treatment in the re-releases :D

But as long as they include the reversible cover it's fine (hopefully it's not black like in the placeholder and it's not japan-only)
FFIV-VI were only there because they shared a white background. They still had yet to go full minimalist like FFVII and onward.

The re-releases are products of the time, hence they went with the "white background with logo" tradition. Maybe it's time the series moves on from that, though.

The white is a bit too jarring.
Plain white background is so boring and ugly. White background comes across as "unfinished."
Well, it doesn't have to be plain white. Or plain black, for that matter. Here's what I whipped up in 10 minutes or so:
I may have made the white one slightly too dark, but you get the picture. I definitely prefer these to the plain ones (and I like them both almost equally, I think).

Also: does anyone else think the standard box art would look 10 times better without the Amano logo and just the text? I feel like it really clashes with the cover art, which is otherwise pretty nice.

Standard box art is amazing. Simple, emotive, with a great sense of flow leading the viewers' eyes to the distance. It's really a shame there's no version without all the logos and ratings.

Can't stand the deluxe edition, on the other hand. Way too busy, font colour makes the text difficult to read, and the colours of the art don't come together well to convey a feeling or mood.

Rip Ishida ;_;

Honestly either black or white looks fine ( it's reversible so we all win ) but the standard edition looks wonderful! But I still need my XV movie and Noctis suit dlc XD. Btw the movie is canon right ?

Is there a high res version of Amano's art (deluxe cover) anywhere in digital format? I need some of that as my new wallpaper.

I'm very happy the cover is reversible, I miss my white covers with just the logo (I'm from the UK). It does look good in black though. I know this is probably sacrilege but i'm not keen on the Amano cover. I think it's the text that you can hardly see, it just looks too busy.

These boxarts are absolute garbage.

If the text on the Amano one actually stands out from the background image in real life due to the materials they use, it may be slightly redeemed, however it's still bad.

I used to live in the UK, so was accustomed to the white bg boxes, which are excellent since the logos themselves always have just enough design to create a fantastic minimalist boxart. I'm very glad this one will be reversible, because honestly I wouldn't want this crap on my shelf.

(If you prefer non-hyperbolic posts, these boxarts aren't very good).

The game's main theme is a roadtrip with friends. I feel like you will be disappointed with the game.

The white one is my favorite of the two, but they're both great. But I know the reversible cover won't have the PS4 label on the spine therefore would look out of place in my physical collection, so I'll very likely just leave it on its default side. I get some people like them without the designated console label on the spine, but I vastly prefer uniformity on the shelf.

Anyway I do like the default cover art, but I'm still a little eh on the background they went with; I like the road trip feel you get from it and the fact that it's actual artwork and not CGI heads everywhere, but the barren desertish environment is kinda boring.

I mean, when you despise the very premise of the games main theme and the entire main cast, it is very hard NOT to dislike the final product.

That said, I REALLY like good JRPG's and hope there are enough redeeming elements that I can get enjoyment out of while I mute all the main characters and skip every cutscene.

I mean, I got fun out of FFXIII by ignoring every single main character besides Sazh and I thought the story was god awful. So it isn't completely out of the realm of possibility.

Deluxe looks kinda bad tbh. You can barely read the text. Maybe the letters will be shiny on the actual box, though. I'm not a big fan of the art, either.

I'm not sure that it's actually finalized just yet. I think they may use the art but the actual retail product may look different.

It's also a slipcover, the logo you see will actually be part of the clear sleeve, and when you take it out, it just leaves the art on the steelbook.

I like the standard box art. It looks like it has more thought put into it than most AAA games as of late.

Just because you put a lot of thought or time into something, it doesn't make that thing good. The boxart is terrible, it screams bromantic comedy. Some dudes having quarter life crisis going on a meaningless roadtrip. The job of a boxart is to not look ugly, it's not hard really.
