During the financial year ending 31st March 2016, Sony's PlayStation Network generated 529.1bn yen in sales.

During the same financial year, the whole of Nintendo pulled in 504.4bn yen in sales.

In terms of operating income, or profit, PlayStation made 88.7bn yen (£538m). Nintendo made 32.8bn yen (£207m).

Total profit - $303 million (6.5% profit)

Sony:

Total game related sales - $13.72 billion ($4.69 billion from Network)

Total game related profit - $785 million (5.7% profit)

That is just crazy. They made more money just off their Online Store and Services than Nintendo made. Wow.



It would be interesting to compare the PSN numbers with Xbox Live numbers, but I am going to assume the Xbox Live numbers are looped into some other numbers that are combined with other numbers and added with other numbers and subtracted by another number. So we wouldn't be able to ever compare them.
