Sony confirms Crash Bandicoot rights still with Activision

They need to have some Sony exec blabbering on about something on the E3 stage, and suddenly the dude in the Crash suit from the commercials comes out, with his megaphone and kicks the exec off stage.

Crash guy: Here's the new Crash Bandicoot game, made by Naughty Dog. Mario can still suck it!

If Sony's E3 stage goes dark, and the "A Naughty Dog Game" text appears, followed by a brief moment of silence before the Crash theme started playing... shit, I'd pretty much die of happiness right then and there.

Nah man, they gotta go all out. I wanna hear "CREATED AND DEVELOPED BAH NAUGHTY DAWWWWWG!!".

I need it in my veins.

If it IS a joint-venture then I need it to be

SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS...

AN ACTIVISION PRODUCTION...

CREEEAAATED AND DEVELOOPPED BY... NAAAAUGHTY DOOOOOOG (or whoooooeeevverrrr)...

CRAASSSH BAAANDICOOT: THE OCHO

i really do want it to be called the ocho too, because it'd be the eighth main platformer, and Dodgeball references are still cool

Asking Naughty Dog to develop a Crash Bandicoot game in 2016 is like asking Rare to develop a Banjo-Kazooie game in 2016...the people that made those games what they were are likely long gone from the company by now.

The mere thought of a 3D platformer made by one of the biggest studios in the industry with Sony's bank behind it makes me wet though.

A lead designer of Crash 2 and 3 is the president of the company (Evan Wells). Bruce Straley was an artist on Crash Team Racing. Charlotte Francis did all the key art and render art for Crash 1-TR and still does that kind of work at ND.

Those are just the names that I know off the top of my head. A team like Naughty Dog doesn't need the exact people that were there anyways. I get it. They're a 'different kind of team' now. They do different games. They're still more than capable.

The new Ape Escape has already been approved, only now it is called vApe Escape and involves primates roaming the countryside blowing smoke rings and searching for the best tasting e-liquids to powerup.

As long as I still chase them and platform with stupid gadgets and catch them, I don't care what it's called or what they're doing.

What if Activision bought Sony and Sony bought Activision at the same time and the deals were kept too secret and they both went through and now there's an infinite time and space loop in California that's slowly eating the planet?

Hey, no joke, this is interesting. What prevents two stock companies from buying each other? And if nothing, who pays when they get sued?

Naughty Dog is still making top tier games though. Rare hasn't been for over a decade.

Not a good comparison.

Did Mario 3D world made you wet? There was a similar bank account behind it.

I guess I should have added "Non-Mario 3D platformer with AAA budget". Which is something non-existent. And the Mario 3D games are very spread out, so if there was just one more studio that could manage to make another one would be an extraordinary luck.

a small number of people that want Crash are the nostalgic type. just let it stay dead.

Why can't we have new games and nostalgic games though. Why can't both coexist? Don't worry if we get our crash, you got brand new games like infinite warfare for gamers like you. That's not going away for you bud.

Fair enough. AAA would never happen, even with Ninyendo, but AA can still happen.

You should have ended it at "coexist" to not look ridiculous.

Here's a question for #teamCrash:

Would you still want a Crash game....
if it was an XBONE exclusive??

It could be a98 MC game and the fanboys would say it's bad because it's not on their console if choice.

You think I'm kidding but I believe a noticeable amount would go FFXIII on it.

Really? Lol wth. Let crash live

It's pretty stupid. Most you get are so-called "revisionists" who think the games were terrible and always will be and then there are others who think he's the video game equivalent of Poochie because of his "90s attitude". People like to pull shit like this out of their ass.

Does Sonic ever get this much shit?

Sonic gets shit because his games have been pretty hit or miss I can fathom why crash would.

The Crash Bandicoot and Sonic franchises are pretty damn similar when you think about it.

The first few games were great to good and then it slid into mediocrity. The difference is that Activision knew when to quit but Sega can't get the message.

Yeah? I mean it feels like every time there's a thread about a new Sonic related anything there will always be someone asking for Sega to kill the series already no matter what the news is. Literally begging for a series they likely don't care about to begin with to end. That's probably worse than some people saying Crash wasn't good, lol.

It always feels like there's some hardcore Nintendo fans out trying to retcon history on social media over the past few years, you even see it here on NeoGAF, always a group of people trying to downplay the success of other games and convince people they only like it because of "nostalgia", that the games were really crap, not good at all, and that (funnily enough) only games like Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day are the ONLY platformers from that era which were not only good, but the greatest of all time, and if you don't think that, you clearly like bad games and let nostalgia cloud your judgment.

I don't why it's difficult for these kind of people to accept that HEY, people did enjoy those games, they still sell, etc. Yet anytime a Crash thread, or a Sonic thread, or any other platformer type thread appears, they're there shouting about how bad the games were and how only N64 games hold up.
