Biggest hype for me was Superman doing Superman things and Clark doing Clark things.
This. I wonder if that rumor of WB ordering more Batman was the culprit of the theatrical cut.

I wonder if WB will force the promotion of this cut too, in like not distributing the original cut for tv airing, like they do currently with Superman II.

You gotta wonder what's going on with the world when you cant enjoy something without someone biting your head off.

I accept people liking movies I dont but when it's the other way around.........nooooo...im a big idiot for liking it.

Guess I need to hate everything.

Remember how people complained Superman just stood there and saved no one after the bomb went off

There's a scene of Superman helping out the injured after the bombing.

As if more evidence was needed that the theatrical cut was basically a "Just fuck my shit up fam" edit

Haven't even read the OT topic at all... Stop going there! It is always going to be toxic to this movie. That trailer was sick though. I'm very curious as to what Superman did in Africa though.

I'm definitely going to watch this on the 28th, no way I'm waiting for the blu ray.

In a sense it appears that way. Not merely giving Clark extra time and motivation, but his interviews add to how brutal and villainous Batman is. Makes Superman look worse while making Bats look better.

Can't believe I'm actually going to double dip on this with the digital and bluray versions. I want to see this ASAP.

Yeah I don't think this will change the minds of people on gaf. Those that simply liked the film or thought the editting was an issue could have their opinions improved with this. Nothing will change those that claim to hate the film though. I'm still of the opinion they are a minority with the majority being okay with or simply liked the movie or likes more of it than they disliked. With another minority loving it. The chatter from leaving the theaters, from everyday people were not ones of hate or disgust. The Internet has warpped with the actual reception of this film really was.

Looks like there are missiles and shit going off in Africa. It makes a lot more sense why his visit there was such a big deal. Cant wait for this

Yeah, at this point I think the rumour that WB suits wanted more Batman is definitely true and was one of the main impetus' for editing the movie down.

I don't know if I buy that if his attack on LexCorp was cut out as well. Just the brief snippet of that in this trailer was hype inducing so not including it seems like an odd choice to make if the motivation was more Batman.

I don't know. Seems rather obvious to me. Hell, in the YouTube comments is a guy who said he refuses to watch anymore of this movie. In the comment section of a movie he hated he posted to tell people that he's not going to watch.

the comments on youtube are garbage :p

Well no shit

If you think Lex Luthor sucked or are triggered by "Martha", your opinion won't be changed or whatever. Same for those "MUH SUPERMAN" people out there.

But I think if you're someone who was apprehensive because the movie was edited and paced like shit and was lacking in character development, then this should be in an improvemnt.

I think this is a realistic expectation and it will probably do just that. Those that are on the fence, maybe it'll help for them. Those that loved it before will love it more, those that hated it will still hate it.

I guess they had to cut this to just have one shirtless male in the movie.

They have that scene in the movie, he's making breakfast/eggs.

Yeah, that's what should be expected. If your problems with the movie are that Clark is too serious, that Bruce is killing, that Lex is too goofy, or that it's too dark, I fail to see how more of that will change your opinions on the movie. The most one can hope for with a different cut is that it smooths out the story so that details that were once obfuscated become
clearer.

That way, at least we get more people hating the movie for what it is rather than for what it isn't. Haha.

So let me ask you guys this; as there been a movie you hated initally and then when a version like this came along you loved it?

The ultimate cut trailer was dope. The added scenes appear to add a lot more depth. I've thoroughly enjoyed everyone's performances; so to have more character-driven moments is a huge plus for me. The added action is an awesome bonus too.

Das Boot
Kingdom of Heaven
Blade Runner
Close Encounters of the third kind

All of the above films were mediocre to me; but the subsequent directors cuts were awesome and made me regard them much higher.

Any movie I ever actually hated never got an extended cut. Very small list. I'm pretty easy going about movies.

The only recent movie I've watched where I flat out said "this was garbage" immediately after watching was Goosebumps.

I've never done a turn like that, but my opinions have gone from, say, 'neutral to pretty good' or 'bad to interesting'.

Of movies that I've seen recently, Sucker Punch benefitted some from a new cut and The Grandmaster benefitted greatly. In the case of The Grandmaster, Wong Kar Wai had to cut 20 minutes from his original version that premiered in Hong Kong. Those 20 minutes make the film feel completely different and takes a good movie and makes it greater.

Sucker Punch had such a weird theatrical cut. I'll never understand why the decision was made to almost completely remove the conclusion to Baby Doll's arc. She was the main character for fucks sake!

Yeah, I dont know why I bother. Maybe I'm just a masochist or maybe just one time there will be some positive comments and no one calls you insulting stuff.

I honestly thought gaf was better than this.

Oh well. That thread is blocked now.
Heh, what was it?

Yep. That single scene at the end with Jon Hamm puts the whole movie in the proper perspective and it got cut. It's baffling because the movie needs it. But, I heard it was cut because that scene pushed the rating to NC-17. I don't know if it's true and I doubt it. However, the movie got ripped to shreds from conservative critics calling it everything from crass to exploitative and beyond. It made whole swaths of people very uncomfortable so I can imagine a scenario where the people in charge of the ratings overreacted too.

The movie version had him just fly up and out of the middle of the building right?

The entire movie was fucked with behind the scenes.

Deb Snyder recently said about it that it was originally meant to be a hard R with less fantasy elements, but WB greenlit it with a promise for PG-13 and more fantasy action.

Snyder shot it for PG-13 but still got an R (lol), leading to WB to edit it down further for the theatrical release. This is after they had already cut the movie down after test screenings because of audience confusion, and removed the films original ending (a musical sequence), more of the musical elements, etc.

With Watchmen getting a 4K release, I wonder if Snyder will be able to release his original cut of the film out now, since he said he had worked on getting it completed.

This. What he did immediately following the explosion was never shown or spoke of. Just that he hadn't been seen since.
and when he returned is the scene Snyder mentioned where he is looking for his mother.

Hope that's in there as well.

That trailer was....a lot less 'dark'? Dunno, saw it once but that was what got my attention. No sound though.

Hot damn, the trailer is so cool. That shot at 1:06 where Batman punches Superman into the ground, was that in the original movie? That shit is straight out of Dark Knight Returns.

Also - is that song on the soundtrack? I don't recognize it.

Don't let the trailer tone fool you. The movie's tone will remain the same.

Sure, not expecting it. But even compared to other trailers, a lot more day light scenes I guess?

Also, the UC won't change shit. Can't wait though, right up my alley.

Honestly, more fleshed out, better editing and this thing might be my top 10 favorite CBM of all time.

My reaching ass is still thinking Jena Malone is Babs and she is in a wig doing some undercover work because that hair looks dodgy. She got da glasses, she got da 'terrible things happen and I'm adjusted to it' attitude, she...sort of looks like she might be sitting.

#Confirmed.

Saw some potential Supergirl rumors too which would be wild since it is implied from a tie-in comic and a hint in the movie with an open pod shown that Kara does exist, which would be cool although highly unlikely.

Rick Famuiwa is directing The Flash. He directed Dope. Deadline

Warner Bros is looking for the right chemical mix on its superhero picture line based on the DC Comics heroes, and the feeling internally was that Famuyiwa provided a vision that would resonate with young viewers and that vision was very compatible with the script that the studio is moving toward the start gate with.
