At the time it was only ever alright, no one I knew went gaga for it, it was all about Zelda, Mario, Metal Gear, Resident Evil, Goldeneye, Banjo etc.

I'm all for platformers, especially on PS4 but Crash just never seemed like an interesting enough character or series to revive.

lol maybe with your friends but that wasn't the general opinion at all.

Crash was huge worldwide. It had both critical acclaim and very impressive sales, and it was also very iconic for ps users.

Is Crash Bandicoot really a good game or are people just hankering for the next "dream" announcement? Seems like it just came out of nowhere. (I played it when I was younger and don't remember it at all)

Thanks for the answers.

You're going to get a lot of anecdotal comments from people saying they never heard anything about it when they were kids and therefore it was never a big deal, and you're going to hear a lot of people list off critic scores and sales numbers (50+ Million across the series, by the way, with a hefty chunk of that being the PS1 titles) but if you want my honest opinion -- they're cheap and easy to get, I'd just play them again yourself. Crash 2's my favorite but Crash 3 seems to be the internet's darling. Crash 1 is going to be the polarizing one.

Remember when Atlus made a P5 E3 badge last year and all they actually hat at the show was a single TV playing a trailer that was already released months ago?

I wonder how much that badge spot is costing Atlus

I feel like I remember from prior years but I won't be able to watch live. They'll be a link somewhere to watch the whole thing over from the start right? I'd like to watch it the next day.

I always found Crash 2 to be the game where everything clicked together. It fixes a number of problems Crash 1 has and the platforming is tops. Crash 3 is just riddled with too much variety and not enough of the game's traditional platforming roots but it's great nonetheless.

I really don't get the hate for Crash 1 besides the lackluster save system and box completion. It's by no means a masterpiece but I don't understand why people tend to write it off. It felt the most atmospheric to me.

You should be able to watch the archived stream on Youtube. I had to do that last year for a few conferences.

As others have said, no series receives the type of revisionist history that Crash does. Crash 3 has a 91 Metacritic and CTR has an 88. The other two are too old so there's no average for them. But it was a series that was always received well by fans and critics and it sold extremely well also.

With that said, Crash games were very different compared to the other big 3D platformers of the era. The common thing during that generation and going forward with 3D platformers was to set them in big worlds/level to run around in. You saw that with Mario, Spyro, RARE platformers etc. Crash on the other hand set you in levels where you were running through narrow areas that would occasionally branch, as well as some side scrolling areas. And that was something some criticized it for. But I thought this made it feel closer to 2D platforms as there was a much bigger emphasis on platforming than you'd often see in those big 3D worlds.

Thanks for the answers.

The original trilogy of games were amazing. After that, not so much. But for that time, they were excellent and generally still are if you like challenging platformers, they still hold up very well.

For me its just the nostalgia. I was around 3/4 years old when my mom bought me a PSX for my bday with Crash Bandicoot 1. So its one of my very first games ever. Even now i would just love to play them all again.

Tetralogy, please.

Crash Team Racing is still the best non-Mario Mario Kart ever released.

I was just playing CTR this past weekend. Controls are so good. It was like I was 10 again. I didn't skip a beat. Even if you don't have nostalgic glasses on, you could clearly see that it is a well made kart racer. Shit, Crash 2 to me is still one of the best platformers I've played.

Crash Bash wasn't Naughty Dog though, it was Eurocom.
And that shit was hard. All your platforming skills were no use in this game coming straight from hell.

But just play CTR. You'll love it. Not Nitro Kart, not Tag Team Racing. The original CTR from Naughty Dog.

Apologies for off topic, didn't want to make a thread asking this, is anyone else's Store not loading up on PS4? First time I've had the blue screen with nothing loading. Changed network settings, tried the log out fix, didn't work. Canada East coast.

Happening for me too. I think they're rolling out the new game page layout for everyone.

Anyone know if SuckerPunch will be making an appearance at E3?
We don't really "know" who or what will be making an appearance at E3, during teh conference. But Gopher's tease suggests that Sony's gonna be having a blowout and showing pretty much everything off that they can.

Seeing as SP shipped out their last full game more than 2 years ago, they're likely ready to reveal what they've been working on. Whether that turns out to be the rumored Spiderman game or something original, either way I'll be excited as it's a game by SP.

(though I kind of do hope it's spiderman, as using an existing franchise with established characters, stories etc will allow them to focus on other aspects of the game more and it could turn out to be the best spiderman game ever released)

I'm with you there, feels to me like SP need a break from infamous (even if temporarily). Looking forward to seeing what they're up to. I just hope that they don't do a Spiderman game that's tied into the upcoming movies.

(I kinda wanna see a new Sly Cooper game but i understand they may not want to go back to the series after thieves in time.)

It's possible. I thought they would wait until PSX but with how little first party was there last year I think it's more likely to be at E3. Wouldn't expect it to launch until Summer 2017 at the earliest though.
Yeah i'm not expecting a release anytime soon, would be cool to know what they're working on though.
