Rumor: Crash Bandicoot is back... In Skylanders

Anyway we'll find out next week whether this is real or if there really is a true to form crash game in the works.

actually I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing both.

I wouldn't either. That Uncharted 4 segment forcing 3 million plus people to play it and put it back in their minds, plus a Skylanders appearance, sounds like some good marketing crossover for the Crash game to me.

For the same reason Gears was exclusive to Xbox, even though MS didn't actually own the IP until a year or two ago if I'm not mistaken.

Microsoft was funding Gears though. Sony isn't funding skylanders.

Different genres. Ratchet and Clank is not a 3D platformer. Crash is.

3D platformers outside of Mario are dead. There's a good reason Yooka-Laylee had to use Kickstarter to get it off the ground.

Rachet and Clank is a 3D platformer....

Yup. Man, the 70s were rad!

I believe Playtonic was already developing the game and was gonna go through with it anyway (they had a playable demo running and everything). They just used the Kickstarter to enhance it. It's not like something like MN9.

I actually take this as even more evidence that there will be a new Crash game.

Skylanders is (or was?) huge amongst children and that would be some great advertisement for the potential new game.

What about that toy company rep that said Sony is bringing back Crash? I know they tried to take back that statement, but that didn't seem too convincing to me. I doubt they're manufacturing a Skylander-- their characters and figurines actually look good. I'm starting to think there's going to be a revival to use Skylanders to attract a younger audience to Crash while the retro audience is already aware of him and ready for a true game, developed by a Sony first-party studio.
...I'm in denial.

Ratchet is a colorful third person shooter with heavy platforming elements. I do think its success shows that a well-made Crash revival could do fine in 2016 / 2017 though.

There really isn't much precision platforming in the series outside the very first game. R&C also is a much more recent series with (overall) a consistently high level of quality.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha This is such an Activision troll if true. Good work everyone! The demand for Crash was so high that Activision took notice!

It's fair to consider that ATVI picked up on the growing interest in Crash and thought that it was time to re-introduce the character, hoping that it provides a needed shot in the arm to Skylanders unit sales.

It would be a wise move, regardless of AngryGAF's sentiment.

This is stupid.

I would Love for Crash to come back in a big way And yes I'll be pissed if he's just in Skylanders or something. However, maybe business wise they just cant do it or didnt deem it profitable or something. Can't really know what behind the scenes so i dont see why this would make me hate Playstation. Its not like they announced it and then cancelled it or something..

How is it that crash , an iconic Franchise that started it all for a lot of PlayStation fans can't get a regular game , but anime flying cat girl who flopped harder then a basketball player gets another game . It boggles my damn mind .

Please not be true. If its then I dont need crash back like this with Activision control still and its best to be dead if its not Sony IP, because Activision can fuck up again in future games.

Because there are a number of crash games that bombed.

Looks like I'm the only one happy about this. Sure, I'd love a new Crash game but....

A.) I love Skylanders.

B.) I've been wanting them to put Crash in this series for YEARS and finally got my wish.

Crash being a PS4 exclusive means there must be some sort of agreement between Sony and Activision. Don't count out another Crash announcement during E3.

Well fuck me. The only tiny ray of hope I have left now is this being a ps4 exclusive. That potentially means that Sony acquired the rights from activison (either wholesale or just for one game) and part of the deal was activison gets to use crash in the skylanders. Cuz apparently we want some fucking crash.

If this is crashs comeback tho fuck that.

The last several did not. Titans sold well for sure (they advertised the fact that it did) and MoM did too, unless my info is wrong. The iOS racers did phenomenally, especially the first one, which was the #1 game app for at least a year.

This is basically my line of thought.

People are acting as if Skylanders is a franchise with bad games. There are now 10 handheld and consoles games of which at least 9 of them are good to great (have not played the 3DS racing game. That is a record Crash would not even dare to dream of. Crash would fit perfect in Skylands. He would bring in new people, but would also get a lot of kids to be familiar with Crash as a character. Crash is not an A-lister anymore, he is not a known face by kids. It would be a very smart move by Activision to first bring him to Skylanders before getting his own game.

If so, Sony should have done the decent thing and say a new Crash game was not in development, instead of this 'we don't own the rights' crap.
