Really shit tier cover that unsold me on the book. So tired of Ramos and legit every one of those characters are floating.

Cyclops, Cho, and Kamala aren't touching the floor.

They all look like they were drawn separately and were photoshopped in individually.

But I thought they're not promoting X-Men characters.
Not in the recent post-CoC games, but the comics seem to more-or-less be safe.

As for the news, I'm surprised that they're still trying to make Sam work. That aside, I'm a bit surprised that they side-stepped the Young Avengers name.

I'm digging Waid, but Ramos needs to go. Dude's art style is hot trash and it has been for years.

Yeah, that cover looks like ass.

Ramos can do good work, but this most certainly ain't it.

I guess Young Cyclops here & Cable in another piece of promo art does confirm that the mutants won't be completely gone as a result of whatever happens in Death of X (thank god).

Over/under on this book lasting longer than the original Champions run?

That lineup was hard to beat

This is apparently a result of Civil War II, so we'll likely find out in the coming months.

It just happened.

Like, New Avengers just got its first trade, and now it's already getting relaunched. Ms. Marvel had that amazing first storyline about how Kamala feels torn between all this responsibility, and that just got tossed into the shitter.

ANAD was cool because it had the kid characters. What's even the point of it now?

I don't see how considering she's still on a team that will require her attention, if not more now that she's one the founders. If anything I would expect this book to better for her because she was out of her weight class in ANAD in which there were facing cosmic threats and she couldn't really do much to help.

To be honest, I'm surprised that they haven't cancelled Sam's ongoing, yet. Isn't it selling well under 20k (around 15k or so)?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Septermber issue was the last unless they have some sort of idea to retool it into something else.

They would have to cancel Squrrriel girl to if they went by those numbers
Fair enough, but at least Squirrel Girl has built up quite a fanbase as of late. The same can't be said for Sam (or at least to the degree of Squirrel Girl).

If they are gonna cancel Sam's ongoing in the near future, they should at least wrap up whatever arc they're currently doing.

To be honest, I feel like most of the Sam hate comes from the fact that he replaced Richard Rider (though Sam not being a very compelling character may have something to do with it, too). Take Ms. Marvel for example, she didn't outright replace Carol (she was still around as Captain Marvel), & Kamala is a compelling character to boot. And while sure, Peter died in Miles' home universe, we still had Peter Parker in the main Marvel Universe. What I'm saying is that reviving Richie may in turn help Sam's popularity since one of the main sources of the hate surrounding Sam would be rectified. That & getting a more compelling story going for Sam.

Personally I would love another Sam book as good as what Duggan wrote. The ANAD run went backwards and ignored everything space related.

We'll see.

Duggan's run was most certainly compelling.

Duggan's run was most certainly compelling.
But it still doesn't appear to be enough to bring in readers, which may tie into the post I made earlier about the absence of Richie being one of the main sources of the hate surrounding Sam.

That's a cool team (+ Scott) and an even cooler writer.

My primary goal was for the doubters: By the end of issue 1, I can make you love Scott Summers.
Hey, it's a valiant effort just to try.

When did marvel comics become so diverse?
I love it

When diversity became profitable. They've been trying for a while, but most books didn't sell for various reasons and ended up being cancelled or never had follow-ups. See X-Men: Academy, Araña/Spider-Girl, Young Avengers, Avengers Academy, Runaways (eventually), Generation Hope, etc.

yeah. "out" someone

God, fuck that story.

I'm all for gay/bi Iceman, but that was a coming-out story written by someone who has no idea what makes coming-out stories dramatically compelling, let alone what it's like to actually come out. In storytelling and characterization terms, what Jean did was only slightly less lazy than just having her turn Bobby gay.
