[EU] New July PSN sales - Alienation, SOMA, Shadow of the Beast and More (160+ items)

how good is enter the gungeon?

It looks fun.

Is it broken/glitched?

Super hard?

Hard. It is a game about learning the mechanics of the game over multiple hours (actual days worth of time...) until you get good/lucky enough to see the end. It is VERY varied (so many different gun options it is silly). No really bug glitches I noticed. Loads of secrets to find which are worth stumbling into on you own.

I am not usually a fan of games you could class as "bullet hell," but it works here. The roll mechanic with limited invincibility frames (ala Dark Souls) makes getting out of tight situations fun.

Spelunky was my favorite Roguelike game ever. This comes a close second next to Rogue Legacy.

Been meaning to grab Banner sage for ages. The combat looks aces but how is the story? Any good?

Banner Saga's story is great and it is a solid package as a whole. However, it is depressing as hell. Many decisions are open ended, but there is rarely a good outcome. I'd argue the game was based on this book.

I was ready to pour all my money on it, but that's quite disappointing.

The only game I'd get is Not a Hero @5€, but I still haven't got the crap they've pulled towards Vita players so I'll skip it

How's SOMA performance/FoV wise? I would love to play it and 5€ is an incredible price, but I don't want to have to quit halfway through the game due to motion sickness :(

Oh jeez, actual days worth of time? Ah well, at least I can just give it a try..

bought Shadow of the Beast and Soma, thanks for the tip.

and the PSPrices site is terribad, but changing it to the table view makes it tolerable :D

I bought it a while back and majorly regretted it. Its just too hard for me, cant get past the second floor and it just got enfuriating after a while. I wouldnt mind if it had some way to at least feel like I was progressing in some way, but nothing. I would say if you are on the fence, be cautious with it, as these games are an acquired taste and you would know if they were for you. I thought maybe this one would be the one that got me into roguelikes.

For what it's worth I had no trouble with SOMA and I tend to get motion sick from games. Your mileage might vary of course.

Not sure if patched as I played it at launch, but there usually is a short hickup/freeze when loading new area, but it's not game breaking, just a bit annoying.

That being said, I absolutely love SOMA and recommend it to everyone who has even a small interest in sci-fi stories.

It felt like a really long time for me to get good enough and then lucky enough to beat it. Maybe I am just bad at it. Once you get your skill level up you have to then hope good RNG comes your way to get a good range of guns to make you life easier in the later areas and later bosses. I had great fun all the time though even though it was kicking my ass at every turn.

SOMA is £4.09 after the PS+ discount (£6.49 without). That's a crazy good deal.

EDIT - Shadow of the Beast is £6.49 with PS+ discount, and for that price I think it's well worth it. It's a very lavish side-scrolling action-adventure with minor puzzle elements. The combat is quite rhythm based, but it actually has quite a bit of depth. For me it was a solid 7/10; maybe an 8 on a good day.

EDIT 2 - Dangerous Golf for £8.49 (PS+) is tempting. I'm not totally sold by the footage I've seen, but it looks pretty fun and with excellent tech.

Helldivers: Super-Earth Ultimate Edition for £8.24 (PS+) is a great bargain. I believe it's the version with all DLC included, and there's a lot of quality content there.

Titan Souls is well worth it for £4.69. It's an indie version of Shadow of the Colossus with one-hit-kills for both the player and the bosses. Can be frustratingly hard at times, but I loved it.

no its been on sale before, I think it was around $35 if I recall, cannot remember.

It was a meager €3.70 off for a week back in April, but that's it for prior sales according to the price graph on psprices.

Now it's €10 off, but still too much for me.

Guess I'll bite, I mean even if I were to quit halfway through it's still only 5€. Thanks :)

Yeah, I'd love a demo so I can try it first. I'm not sure the gameplay is for me so I'd really like to be able to play it before I drop £20+ on it.

SOMA is incredible and needs so much more love. Firewatch is a wonderful experience for those who have a character/story itch, and The Banner Saga is gorgeous game, with amazing art direction/soundtrack, characters, and unique gameplay.

Finally a great sale on EU PSN, SoTC, Soma and Alienation for me.

Will see if more, not sure if I have the money though...

This is a really great sale. Can't decide between WipEout 2048, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, Tokyo Jungle, Silent Hill, Suikoden.

edit. Little put off by Silent Hill because when I plug my PS3 into my CRT for the real 90s experience the aspect ratio is never quite right.
what is sotc?
Shadow of the Colossus if I were to guess.

SOMA really is a incredible game in my opinion. Definitely my favourite of 2015 and the only game that has stuck with me from last year. Please buy it at this ludicrous price.

Wooow that's a nice price for SOMA. I'm really bad at these hiding horror games (too scary), but I'll give it a go at that price.
Also everyone should get Catherine, unique and excellent game. 2€ for plus members, no excuse To skip it!

I predict Soma will be top of the charts next month.

Just a wild guess ;)

I hope it will be so it can entice more publishers to provide steam-like discounts in the future.

I know I bought Battlefield Hardline last month after a similarly great discount and that was topping June's PSN charts together with BF4.

Lol I played through it 3x for platinum and each time was just as depressing. Its a fantastic game though. Hard was Brutal.

Picking up for my vita for sure

Guacamelee
Worms revolution

Athough I already have a backlog that would last for a year, thinking of picking up
Olli Olli 2 - never played the first game, does not look fun but I Think it is fun to play. Thoughts please?

Also thinking of picking up Titan souls for vita, but might wait for an even bigger price drop hm. But the game seems to be very interesting
