"Because we are Republicans and I will never vote Hillary". But it's ok I'll pass along to my father that some kid on the internet just called him a racist, in which he will laugh and then Go back to talking about his excitement for a justice league movie coming out.

And this is why half the country is terrified of a trump presidency. Minorities are at best, seen as inconveniences that get too loud when they yell "equality" and at worse scum that deserve to be treated like caddle or worse, exterminated.

Anyone who votes for trump, ANYONE, is a disgusting racist. You cannot refute that. Your fathers a racist and the fact that he laughs off the allegation is terrifying to me.

Maybe you should push it a little harder than that. Doesn't it bother you that your father is a racist? I mean, that's how Donald Trump got his start being a racist.
Oh that's cool bro, call my dad a racist, that's rather classy of you.

The dreams of people actually being offended by such a blanket statement due to guilty by association logic and magically voting Hillary just to cleanse themselves of the name calling being done by the opposing team is just silly to me.

It's never going to happen, people will tow the party line, each side will call each other's names just to piss the other side off

I read it. my view is still the same, check the video if you want to know what I'm talking about

And around and around and around we go!

Not even the PR department from Apple could spin Trump as not a racist just some dude who is actively voicing his opinions on race just so he could trade deals with racists and gain support from racists by saying and doing racists things that way he can totally 180 them and say gotcha!

April Fools 2017 is going to be so fucking legendary.

So the establishment type? My parents are Republican, hate Romney, voted for him anyway because they did not want a second Obama term. Believe it or not it's a choice we are allowed to make, name calling won't make a difference. I never heard my dad once make racist remarks about his employees and he has a wide variety of ethnicities that work for him. I must not be listening close enough.
They back a party that actively disenfranchises people of color and is now openly supportive of racism. Why are you wasting time "listening" when a vote is more indicative of how your parents feel than anything they could say?

I'm not talking about two sides arguing like children in a playground on the safety of Facebook.

I mean two people, grown adult conversation
I'm talking about real world discussions in person.
Is someone really going to sit across from another person and say "well you're a racist John because you're towing the patry line"

I have told people to their face they are 1) a bigot and 2) no longer my friend because, while they "are fine" with me being gay, they don't think I should have the right to marry. Or that I should kiss another man while around them, even if it's intentionally not in front of them. Or that I should even wear tie dye, let alone stuff that looks rainbow, because "what if it makes a scene while you're with me".

I have no problem telling a friend who thinks all lives matter but roll their eyes at another black protest of injustice, or thinks Spanish speakers should have to learn English at risk of deportation from "ahr cuntree", or thinks women should go back to the kitchen and shut up, that they are 1) a bigot and 2) no longer my friend.

I've spent far too much time on this earth treating the disrespectful with more respect than they've ever shown myself or my loved ones.

If your dad is ok with voting for a racist, well, then your dad is at least already somewhat racist.

Sorry.

No personal offence, but people with these views are probably worse then racist. Its like if you're voting for your actual ideals, as messed up as there are, I feel like there's at least a cold logic there.

For someone to Kanye shrug on problematic views because it doesnt effect them/they just dont care is pretty much why some of the bigger modern era atrocities happened; minority group full of evil pushing the agenda, the rest can't be bothered.

Because its probably easier to change someones problematic world views through debate/facts logic then to beat general apathy towarda your fellow man.

I'd simply say they are racist themselves. "That Klansman wants to kill you. I don't care if he does or not because he's going to fix my car this coming Tuesday."

No, one is objectively racist.

This person has objectively said racist things.

This person has, at many times, said that if he gains presidency he will do racist things.

He's very outward about it, its how he rose to the top and caught the entire party by surprise. He deals with racists and thats how he was able to shoot up.

So your dad is a racist. This is not name calling. This is stating an objective fact. If you support Donald Trump, a racist candidate for the presidency then you are a racist.

Its meant both as an insult and factual label. Your father is a racist. Rationalize it all you want.

"I don't care if it hurts minorities, I'm voting for X because of Y"

Is racist.

Full stop.

Your dad is a racist.

If your mom votes like he does, your mom is a racist.

They may not be out there actively burning crosses.

There might even be some minorities they're quite fond of.

But when push comes to shove, their party comes before the well being of every person in the country that isn't white.

That means they are racists.

I'm glad what's really important to some people is to fight for the right of people supporting and endorsing a racist fascist to not be criticized or thought of as bad people.

Real important fight.

Makes sense after all they're just following orders!
Sorry I mean the party line.

His campaign is built upon bigotry and exclusion. What other reason would someone have to vote for him unless they agreed with those things? If someone says "I don't think we should kick out all mexicans and muslims but I'm still voting for Trump" then at best, they are perfectly fine with enabling bigotry which historically is just as bad.

We live in NY, my parents will vote Republican and the state will remain blue, I'll vote Johnson and not support either.

My parents and people off line live in a world where saying the N word is racist, not the laundry list of things today that mean you're racist.

I'm just going to have to put everyone on ignore that is calling my father a racist just because he is voting Republican (not just trump but Republican down the line)
It's extremely disrespectful to talk shit about another forum members parents like that. I do not wish to continue engaging people that can be that heartless. I mean damn ya'll have some class.

Why is your Dad more of a coward than the Bushes, than Kasich, fuck even Ted goddamn Cruz.

Never thought I would see the day I agree with a compliment about Ted Cruz, but yeah I agree completely.

Dude had his own dad implicated in an assassination by Trump and responded to it by telling him (in the most PG way you can possibly do on national TV) to fuck off during a speech entirely designed and approved to end with him endorsing him.

That poster's dad is more openly racist and morally bankrupt than Ted fucking Cruz.

Like it sucks having to confront your family about racism but sometimes you just have to suck it up and do it. I did. Wasn't very pleasant. Ultimately led to, I think, a better result.

I more or less avoid my extended family now though.

lmao dude. Trump has built his entire platform around racism. EVERYONE who votes for Trump knows this or should know this. Those that don't are racists by proxy as not giving a fuck about the groups of minority rights even when said groups are in danger is racism.

So yes. And have you ever thought the reason why you'd perhaps get devoured on this forum if you spoke your mind? Like, think your words through and say "this is totally gonna get me devoured" and ask WHY.

This entire election is a battle of equality, of rights, of half the country not being treated like fucking rats.

It's like watching someone deny that 2+2=4. To reiterate, the truth hurts. There are SO many options besides voting for Trump or supporting him in any sense of the word.

Non-white people live in a world offline where racism doesn't just mean saying the n word too you know.

Racism does not just mean "I hate (insert people) and I wish they were all slaves/dead/gone!" There are very real systemic problems driven by racism. Sometimes it's subconscious. It's still racist!

Oh so Americans should go to the good ol' days where you could treat people like crap and discriminate against them as long as you don't say the N word?

I feel you BokehKing. It is so hard to know just what is and isn't racist these days. I mean who would have thought that simply insinuating Hispanics are all rapists, or that we should bring back the death penalty to kill five innocent ni, er persons of urban descent would be seen as racist. so the 11 million undocumented mexicans here are "bad ones"? Every muslim wanting to immigrate to the US is a "bad one"? Becuase those are his blanket policies, the ones that got him where he is, no matter how much they try to soften them for the general election. How are those things not bigoted? I have zero respect for anyone who is voting for Donald Trump. They are either racists or proudly ignorant. And if you are supporting Trump because "Well I'm a republican I have to tow the line now" then you are a coward on top of all of that.

Words have meanings and names have power. When you use imprecise language to describe any controversial statement you immediately open that statement, and as a result all others, up to unnecessary scrutiny. When changing one or two words can convey the same message and actually make the statement accurate it shouldn't be a huge ask.

But yea, my job requires spending 6-7 hours in a conference room debating the phrasing of a single sentence so I guess being a bit of pedant is required.

You're probably right. He's just a poor wordsmith. It's not like there is mountains of evidence going back decades that show that Trump is a piece of racist shit or anything.

When Michael Moore said he thought Trump was going to win, he didn't say it was because of a huge swath of klansmen just waiting for Trump to come along. He (and Joy) are talking about displaced coal miners, steelworkers, factory workers. Trump is dripping poison in their ears in a language they've heard from none of the other candidates, promising they'll have their livelihood back by being tough on the politicians and corporations that have "betrayed" them. A lot of these people feel marginalized and forgotten, dismissing all of it as simple racism is foolish.

Yeah this stuff was posted in a fortune article months ago too. There's really no other way to put what Trump is.

A racist, misogynistic buffoon who needs to be stopped at any cost. This is an election unlike any other.
We had pretty much this in France in 2002... Thanks god the guy lost 82-18 (and I still think that 18 is far, far too much).

Now we have the daughter of this guy... She's the same, but she hides it better, and the situation is more difficult with terrorism. We may have two former and unpopular presidents facing her, I fear we're for a rematch next year, but it'll probably be far closer. Far too much close to my taste.

I can't really talk for the US election, we sometimes have a very blurry picture from above, but the picture we have (especially reading threads here) is such that I indeed hope he'll fail.

All I'm saying is, you can't expect the Republican party to all just grab their stuff and become Democrats.

Why would you want all these people who all label "racists" in your party anyway? Infiltrating the system?

Why would you want people who tow the line who you blanket label racist, in your party supporting Hillary when it's not sincere.

Not voting for Trump doesn't have to mean "becoming a Democrat" or "supporting Hillary". It can just mean not voting for Trump as doing so makes you either a bigot, ignorant, or a coward. Take your pick.

Hmmmm being extremely and willfully ignorant of Trump and here you are defending him when that is simply not true at all.

Nah, I made up this long writeup but your not worth the time. If you cannot even do a cursory glance at googling Trump and the shit hes done this past week alone and are actively refusing to listen to the stupid shit he says all the time and selectively hearing stuff (you forgot he wants to get rid of the drug dealers and rapists which btw he basically labeled all of Mexico) then perhaps you should take a look at yourself?
