Will be the next Coyote some east coast team will sign and think they discovered.

I've noticed something, Canada doesn't have a Fox News-esque channel. We did once called Sun News but that channel went under pretty quickly. It was very Pro Conservative and had very poor production value. It looked like a Public Access Channel.

You don't have Murdoch.

But I wonder how similar PostMedia is to the Murdoch empire... At least it isn't the mouthpiece of a single person.

It's definitely the closest we get. Company mandated editorials, fuckery with ads that were designed to look like they came from elections Canada. They're a terrible organization that's had some decent people work for them.

So Murdoch is to Postmedia, as Starbucks is to Tim Hortons..

Gotcha.

If O'Leary becomes the Conservative party leader, expect the Cons to be laughed further into irrelevance.

That's where it starts.

First comes the laughter, then the coverage, then the disenfranchised and then you wonder how O'Leary became PM.

The thing is, O'Leary really doesn't have the science of TV appearances down like Trump does. He's a blowhard, but he isn't an entertaining, charismatic blowhard like the Donald is.

I hope you're right, but I have my doubts. There are some stupid ass places in Canada man

I don't think Canada has enough conservatives to allow a nutjob like Trump get elected. Harper hid his craziness somewhat well, and he never had any credible opposition up until Trudeau came around(Dion, Ignatieff lol).

I think most Canadians are pretty liberal. My wife's American who moved to Canada and she was pretty conservative when I met her(laughing at our public healthcare and high taxes etc.) but now she loves it here and can't imagine moving back to the US(we considered it many times).

That's why somebody like Trump who appeals to the demagogue will never succeed here. Canadians by design are too liberal for that to happen.

Even Harper at his absolute worst can barely move the needle in terms of their Conservative brethren to the South.

Canada being liberal is part of what makes it such an awesome country.

Fuck I love you, Canada.

Pauline Hanson isn't charismatic or entertaining either. But the attention they get from being a blowhard gets clicks and attention.

I think Tim Hortons and Dunk 'n Donuts might be a better comparison, but you've basically got it.

Oh yeah, I forgot Starbucks aren't good at donuts. Or pastry. Or food in general.

I've had Starbucks' chicken panini a number of times when I used to work close to one. It's actually not bad, though it's been a year since I ordered food there.

Likewise, I've had their breakfast sandwiches when I used to work close to one. It was certainly preferable to say, an Egg McMuffin.

love you too pikma

i usually use my starbucks rewards on the sandwiches because they're basically the most expensive thing you can redeem, and I sure as fuck don't need a venti sized frappuccino. i wouldn't spend $7 on them but they're fine.

I had a venti frappe once.

the barista fucked it up by making me pay for a medium and gave me a venti because there was no medium cups, I drank it anyway

I'm probably visiting Canada in December btw, might spend a couple of weeks there with a friend of mine, but it all depends on my budget, I'm not sure if my bank account will be able to recover from 6 months in Europe that fast, maybe if I stay with my best friend Simon Belmont it'll be easier

it's nice to know some people will resort to denigrating to childish insults when they get called out for things
What thread are you talking about this time?

The only issue I have is how it's prepared, but on that note, it's not like Starbucks' primary offerings are food. Everything's pre-packaged and heated in an oven. The prices are also a bit higher for how their food is prepared.

At this point, I just redeem my rewards on whatever regular sized drink I want. Venti is just way too big, especially for frappuccinos.

The rare time I drink coffee, I just get black.

There are plenty of people in Canada who hate immigration, and feel we're not hard enough on ISIS(aka muslims). They don't shout about out in public up here though, but if they're given a face they recognise who shares the same opinions, and shouts about it in public for them, they'll definitely vote that way.

Harper was just a creepy looking loser. He couldn't inspire people to be racist the same way someone like O'Leary could. Starts with people thinking he's amusing, then agreeing on some points, and then loving his "says whatever he wants" attitude.

Ksharp is just licking his wounds from making himself look like an idiot in the Canadian election thread. That poster is a joke.

I don't read politics threads but every time I've seen that guy in a sports thread (usually olympics or some other major event) he was a primo douche

Enough of Politics!

Here's the Las Vegas Arena inside!

Looks good. Who knows about the long term prospects of this franchise but it's gonna be fun for the first couple years at least.

I've had the not-so-pleasurable experience of having discussions on immigration and Syrian refugees with a few people, and I don't know what it is about me that makes them think, "this man is clearly someone I can reveal my bigotry to."

The common thing I hear (and we've all probably heard): "We can't let them in because some of them could turn out to be ISIS members/radicalized muslims."

Then it just moves on to "well, we gotta protect Canada's culture" and related bullshit.

And all I can do is do the Jim Halpert face and just wait it out.

If you come to Toronto, we can probably have a meet up when you're. Quick will show up since he only comes when someone from out of town visits.

I was almost able to attend this weekends meetup. I'm still going to the Jays game on Saturday, but won't be staying in Toronto for the night.
