FCC wireless chip filing makes me think Sony will announce new Vita hardware

I'm skeptical. Sony barely even acknowledge the Vita exists anymore, so I have a hard time imagining a successor, or even an updated version.

And I say this as someone who loves the Vita and who'd buy an updated version the second it became available.

Before the Neo rumors started, I was sure that Sony was going to release the PSP2 before December.

Now it's possible that we may see the PS4N (Neo), PS4S (Slim), and PS4P (Portable) before Christmas.

Edit: I REALLY don't mind Sony sticking to consoles instead of pushing for more portable games to be honest, so if OP is just talking crazy here, I wouldn't mind.
What I really want is the Neo @_@ and play FFXV in a better console without that many sacrifices to graphics.

At the most I'll say this psp got 3 revisions, 4 if you count the psp go. The vita is at number 2 so there is some hope. The likelihood of Sony announcing a new vita is laughable so please don't do this to yourself.

Is nobody reading the OP? That's the first thing I did after opening the thread and I don't see any mention of PSVita in those pictures
The only link between the OP and Vita is that the model number for one of the chips (J20H091) is the same as the one in the vita (J20H056). The "Trinity" and "announced at Playstation Meeting" parts are not mentioned at all in the original article and made up by the TC for this thread.

PSA:
- Source doesn't write about a new Vita version
- Source doesn't say a new Vita version could be announced at the PlayStation Meeting event
- There is no mention of "Trinity" anywhere

This is entirely the OPs thoughts and people not thinking and just hitting that "Post Reply" button.

Welp looks like our main lead is debunked

Ok so to follow up my last post:

It looks like the source is linking this application to the Vita because of the similar module numbers. The application for the wireless module has number J20H091, which is similar to the Vita's wireless module nr. J20H056 (according to this post).

However, it looks like the PS4 has a similar WIFI-BT module number: J20H071, as seen in this pic.

So if the source's only lead is the similar numbers, then this rumor is already dead.

Well shit

Is the Cert in the source for TWO chips or one?

So it could be Neo/Vita or simple Neo/PS4slim?

At least, the speculative JP post OP copied is more prudent and wonders if this a sign or a hardware revision for PS4 or Vita, as there are seemingly two wireless being tested.

Bear in mind, the J20H091 name is pretty much itsnothing.gif per se as for example J20H090 is a wireless adapter used in TVs. It's not like consoles are the only Sony products to use wireless adapters.

Most likely, this is about Neo, a known coming hardware revision.

Actual FCC links :

https://fccid.io/AK8M16DFL1

That OP is a fucking embarrassment.

I don't understand what I'm looking at here.

A revision is something I'd be really interested in. The battery is going on my original model anyway so I was thinking of getting a slim.

"Sony has requested two wireless modules at FCC. The model numbers are AW-CB262 and J20H091. The first one is identical to the wireless module used in the PS4, while the second is identical to the one used by the PS Vita. Could the Vita also be getting an upgrade?"

According to this post the Module number in the OP picture IS corresponding to the Vita chipset

Well then... I believe this is my stop to join this hype train.

J20H088 also got it's FCC cert last week. We will see if Sony comes up with a new Vita.

If the PS4 Neo finally has non-shit WiFi that's enough of a gamechanger for me.

There is no reason my WiFi shouldn't be strong enough to remote play in my own home. pls be true

i don't give this any credibility atm, as there's nothing hinting at sony going this route...
BUT!!!!
i want to believe!
vita REAL downside was one and only one: memory card cost..
if the vita target was the "japanese game community", they got a bullseye..

if it's a revision, i might buy it for collection sake..
if it'a a new mobile console... in my vein!

Seriously, even if the probability of this having anything to do with the Vita is microscopic I'm still aboard the hype train lol

I don't see anything that says Project Trinity or the word Trinity in those documents OP. This sounds like Tales from OP's Ass.

Hmm maybe it could be something but I'm skeptical

Just give me a Vita that is beter designed for remote play meaning Better analogs with L3 and R3 and 4 shoulder buttons. I would be good with that.

There may or may not be a link

It depends on whether they can correlate the volume of certs with upcoming devices in question

is this a single cert or multiple?

I'm confused, how are you assuming a WLAN Chip has anything to do with a vita? Am I missing something.

It's a chip that allows for AC speeds (Faster than N and N+) which would be needed for NEO is you're broadcasting higher quality images (video) ala Twitch.

"A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a wireless computer network that links two or more devices using a wireless distribution method (often spread-spectrum or OFDM radio) within a limited area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, or office building."
