Perfect, please do. I'm subbed to the thread and will be checking back.

Awesome! Glad to know as DS3 and TW3 are two games I intend to play. Already beat DS3 on PS4 but I'd love to experience it at 60 fps.

Sorry for taking so long to get back, my shipment was delayed and then I've been sick:

Core Clock: 1890 MHz
Mem Clock: 4110 MHz
Stock Voltage

Unigine Valley (1440p, DX11, High, 4xAA): 56.8 FPS; Score 2375

FFXIV Heavensward Benchmark (1440p, DX11, MAX settings): 62 FPS; Score 8198

SteamVR Performance Test:

Average Quality: Very High (8.2)
Frames: 9867
Frames Below 90 fps: 0
Frames CPU-bound: 0

GPU Temp after running all of these (~25 mins): 50 c, Fans @ 50%

I stuck with a cheap one but everyone seems to recommend it, Cooler Master 212x. Fiddly to attach though :/

Thanks, I looked this up, saw it in the Gaf PC thread too. Went with it.
Getting much better temps now, although the thing is so big it barely fits into my case :p

My 1060 arrives tomorrow.. hoping whole PC is a lot quieter and cooler coming from a poorly installed stock i5 fan and a hot and noisy GTX480 with blower.

Anyway, whoever owns a Zotac 1060 mini (I do have a mini-itx PC) can you share impressions? I cant find reviews.

Not sure if you're still looking, but I've been messing with a Zotac 1060 Mini for a few days in a build I'm putting together for a friend.

Just under 10K Firestrike score on 3D mark. With 16GB DDR4, (Single stick, oops) and an i5-6500. Fresh windows 10 install. I believe the dual fan version performs a tad better. A friend with an older PC, 8 GB ram and an i7-2300 got just over 10K w/ dual fan Zotac card.

I got my EVGA 1060 yesterday. I had to clear my CMOS to get it to display a signal wheN I first installed it and I've had multiple driver crashes already otherwise it's been smooth sailing lol. It definitely runs hot though, I'm hitting the 70s while playing games. I'll play around with the fan settings and see if I can get it a little cooler since I think I can still get the fan going a little harder without me being able to hear it.

I have an older mobo, had to update the BIOS to get it to work with the new card. But smooth sailing. I have an MSI 6GT.

I think hitting 70C is normal with the defaults on a bunch of these cards though, right? At least for this MSI, that's what the reviews showed, and sure enough at default settings mine runs just at 70 during heavy gaming.

You can definitely set a custom fan profile to keep it cooler though but I'm not really worried about it personally.

edit:
According to reviews for the reference 1060 card, the thing runs around 75-78C during load/gaming. Considering my MSI is slightly overclocked and is very quiet at full load and still hits around 70 (5 deg lower than the reference) I think I'm good.

Does anyone know if the only difference between the EVGA GTX 1060 Mini ITX and the SC version is the factory overclock on the latter? Or does the SC actually have a better cooler?

The SC has a better heatsink so it should run cooler. I have the regular non SC version myself.

Before I got it I was wondering if maybe I needed to update my bios since my mobo is pretty old too (ASRock extreme3 gen3) but nope. It worked fine without an update.

I'm pretty much getting reference temps then. That's fine, it's a beast of a card really. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Got 1060 on the cheap, friend was selling it for £200, I'm really impressed. Replaying all the games I had to suffer 20-25fps on lower settings is a treat, plus it's quiet and pretty freaking cool. Managed to add an extra 240mHz t the core clock and 600mHz to the memory on stock voltage and cooler with no problem either.

My only issue is sometimes the screen goes black for a second then comes back on every few hours randomly with no errors and whatnot. This happened before the OC so it wasn't that. Dunno if the drivers are messy or what but it isn't a big deal to me

The price for these are so good. Newegg here has been sold out for ages here in Canada. Anyone in Canada know of another place that is reliable that would be carrying these?

I caved and bought the MSI GTX 1060 at Fry's. Pricey, but I needed it. My old GTX 650 just wasn't cutting it anymore. Especially since I got my 2560x1440 monitor. Now I went from barely reaching 60 fps in Titanfall with ini-hacked ultra low settings at 1920x1080, to stable 60 fps with almost everything on high at 2560x1440.
I sure hope to be able to play some future titles reasonably well and not nearly as compromised as before.

How about noise? I have an ITX PC so I am contemplating buying this.

I've been running the Gigabyte G1 the last 2 days, smooth so far. I've only been playing Overwatch but temps are around 61-65 so far.

I got tired of my Zotac not shipping and cancelled my order. I bought a Gigabyte G1 instead. It will arrive next week and I need it so bad. Tried playing Overwatch with integrated graphics and it really sucks on low settings

Going from 50% render scale and low settings to Epic and 150% render scale is life changing lol.

Got 1060 in the mail. Need to install a new cooler on my 2500K and overclock it to go with my 1060 now. I can't wait to finally play the Witcher 3.

Idle as in no game running? That seems a bit high, but it's possible that the card is just okay with not running the fan at that temp. What are your load temps?

My 1060 (Zotac) runs at about 37F idle and then up to the mid 70s at load. Based on what I saw on Anandtech the Strix should run cooler at load than that.

Yeah no game running.

This is what it looks like playing Doom with everything ultra + vulkan + uncapped framerate

fan is off until 60c its normal

Ah! Thanks.

Nowinstock only has Newegg on it in Canada though . So it's good but only for that site. The 1060s have been cheaper than 480s here at times .
Right, but It's still your best shot to get a 1060 in Canada at this time while supply is still limited. Also, which sites are selling new 1060s for less than Newegg.ca? It's not NCIX, that's for sure.

I have Zotac 1060 mini, runs quiet even on full load. Temps maxes out exactly at 70 degrees Celcius inside a mini itx case living in this 30+ degrees Celsius ambient tropical island nation of the Philippines with no AC. Hits 80 degrees Celcius with Furmark, but games, I only have Hitman to test stays at 70.

HUUUUGGGGGEEE upgrade to my GTX 760.

Well according to PCPartPicker ,. Memory express , vuugo, and shop RBC are cheapest but it's probably all back orders too .

I too upgraded from a GTX760 (4GB) to a Zotac Mini.

My temps can reach 82c during the heaviest bench-marking. Mine was (fresh out of the box) clocked at 1911 core / 4005 mem from Zotac. I'm hoping setting up a better fan profile will drop the temps a bit. I'm also running a W3690 Xeon clocked at 4.0 with 12GB DDR3 (677) ram on Windows 7 Pro.

With the same benchmark settings as phant0m I get:
Heavensward = 8039
Unigine Valley = 2309

Haven't done the Steam VR test yet. I love the card and although I can hear it when the fan spins high it is still very very quiet.
Firestrike score was 10821

CCL (UK) have finally got the EVGA 1060 SC in stock so have reserved for picking up on Saturday.

Wasn't sure whether to even bother side-grading from my 970 but want it for the 10bit HEVC decoding/encoding more than gaming. Considered just waiting for the 1050 which should cover that equally well but seems that's not going to materialise until December. Plus will likely come in below the performance threshold that I do like to occasionally game at really, even if it will be used more as a HTPC card.

Hi there, would the evga small form edition be pretty good? they seem to be a pretty decent price but I am wondering what the pros and cons are for a small card vs regular size.... My case is a monster so I don't really need the mini or smaller size, should I be looking at something else? also the mini cards are cheaper , this must be due to one fan and not as much cooling so not as much overclocking?

this is what im referring to....

http://www.ncix.com/detail/evga-geforce-gtx-1060-1506-1708-e2-133579.htm

I have a Zotac 1060 mini. The main advantages are that it's cheaper and maybe easier to install depending on your case.

On the other hand, the one fan will average running louder at load and probably will not shut off at idle. Plus there's no backplate or yadayada LEDs or whatever young whippersnappers think graphics cards need these days.

Your boost clock is a bit of a lottery... It will definitely boost more than the listed clock but probably not as much as a more expensive twin fan card. Mine boosts to 1911mhz usually.

And obviously not the card for overclocking.

Edit: I should say I don't find the single fan to be overly loud or anything, but I have a different card and YMMV.

I have that card. It has a pretty shit heatsink so it'll run pretty hot but you'll still be able to hit 2000MHz if you OC it if mine is any indication. If it was in stock I would've got the SC version though so that's the one I'd recommend if you can get your hands on it. Based on user reviews it seems to run upwards of 10C cooler than the regular version.

Building my first computer in about 15 years.

6700, 32GB of DDR4 and the Zotach 1060 mini AMP! version is coming in.

I'm excited, looking forward to seeing how it performs. I work in a tech field so I'm always around big machines, I haven't felt the desire to have my own at home, it is weird.

Got my 1060 installed and OCed my 2500k for the first time on a new heat sink. My body is ready for Deus Ex. this is such a perfect card for the price.

Whoops!!

Make sure you actually have the right drivers installed. I didn't update my drivers after using a Zotac GTX 1060 that was broken, and switched for the above MSI GTX 1060 Armor OC. I then added a tiny OC to the card that seems to do nothing to temps / power consumption / noise / fan speed etc

Standard (gave a score of 8.1 compared to above with wrong driver)
Base Clock = 1544 MHz
Boost = 1759 MHz
Memory = 2002 MHz

OC
Base Clock = 1650 MHz
Boost = 1865 MHz
Memory = 2225 MHz

The result:

Did you update the bios on your card with the 0db update? Because the default fan curve on that update seems out of whack, we're talking mid-40% fan speed at 100% load.

I didn't bother updating since the fan doesn't bother me as it is now.

I customized the fan profile to be very aggressive and it's still very hot. It'll go into the high 70s low 80s if I set my temperature limit that high, but that's with my room temperature being pretty high (~30C) as well so I expect it'll be cooler once summer is over. Still hot compared to the SC though with people apparently staying in the 60s under load. A couple Newegg reviews mention the non SC hitting the 80s too.

For people like me that just want a card now and don't feel like waiting for the SC to be in stock I have no problem recommending the regular EVGA since it's still a beast for 1080P gaming but the SC does seem to be the better card.

edit: And by chance the regular EVGA 1060 in my link is in stock now that I checked.

ah thanks you mean the small form ones come in SC and OC right? so you recommend the SC?

also being smaller it stands to reason it would run hotter but would there be a risk in a big case with 4 fans anyway?? or is it that with a big case you may as well opt for the bigger gpu with more fans?

Is it worth going from a GTX 970 to a 1060? Or just wait for HBM2 next year?

The 1060 is better but not millions of times better. It's like 980 level, ish.

If people are dumping 980tis that would be a worthy upgrade assuming you don't mind second hand. But I wouldn't bother with that upgrade unless you could get at least 980ti / 1070 level hardware.

Also, there's not much chance of the x60 card being on HBM2 next year or the year after, imo. More likely HBM2 reserved for the top chip and then GDDR5x for the one below it. But that's fine, it will be more than enough bandwidth to feed it.
