What is with people and saying that it won't just be win or lose?

Magazine previews have said there will be a definitive victor. The preview summaries say it. Literally the name of the episode says it.

Ash wins or Alan does.

personally I'll be flabbergasted if Ash loses, just based on how we know the plot will progress from future episode synopses

Ash gets kidnapped by Team Flare. Why? Because he's the best trainer, duh. Lysandre had Alain under his thumb by way of his affection for Manon and Hari-san, but he has fuck-all on Ash, who comes out of nowhere to be the actual best trainer. So Ash just has to be nabbed, likely so he can be forced to work for Flare. (And, more importantly, forced to protect Lysandre's ass when Alain realises he's been played like a fiddle and Lysandre has no intention of healing Hari-san)

If Alain wins, there's zero reason for Lysandre to kidnap Ash. They'll naturally come to a head, with Squishy fighting Z2 as well and so on, but the particulars that have already been revealed don't work in an environment where Alain comes out on top. Fuck, Lysandre himself funded the league; he's literally hiring his future brainwashed or blackmailed bodyguard!

I know that logical plot progression might be asking too much of Pokemon, but XY/Z is actually pretty good! I trust in them for this one.

I'm gonna avoid this thread and watch this shit when I get back from work tomorrow and probably mark out hard if he wins. And if he loses I'll close the youtube video and forget this thread happened.

I mean, didn't Ash already lose to this Mega Charizard twice already?

He must win this one, because Ash-Greninja will be entirely pointless for multiple reasons if he can't take down what is essentially the poster-boy of Mega Evolution.

That bullshit in the Shinnoh League pretty much made me stop following the anime entirely until I heard XY & Z got its shit together. If Ash loses this, he will be the only person I can think of that is eternal jobber status in his own fucking show.

I agree. We know Lysandre is interested in Ash-Greninja, but if he can't beat Alain, then who cares?

I mean, the whole Ash-Greninja thing is incredibly unique in and of itself, and they've been increasing in power as the series progressed. It'd be incredibly short sighted if someone assumed that, if Ash does lose, that it's because Ash-Greninja hit some absolute ceiling in terms of power rather than them just not having unlocked the appropriate level of Shonen True Potential yet. If anything, Ash-Greninja has already proven it's worth since a trainer who usually washed out around Top 8 is now serious contender for a League Championship.

Ash-Greninja is absolutely of some worth, but to a guy like Lysandre who's already got a super powerful Mega Charizard X under his thumb, it would need to be better than that to force him to such drastic measures. If Ash-Greninja loses to Zard X, Lysandre can be reasonably sure that it won't pose a threat to Z2 and his plans. But if he wins, then he need to deal with Ash, fast.

Basically, it'd be strange if Ash lost and then, in the midst of all the Zygarde business and Lumiose City getting levelled, Lysandre goes
"hey that Greninja was pretty cool, go get me it!"
.

It's not out of the question, but I think it's an awkward jump.

I'm expecting this to be extremely hard to avoid unless you just straight up avoid certain sites and people.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
If Ash wins this I've decided I'll propose to my girlfriend...

Please say yes, Carnivine.

Yup. I have bookmarked a place where I will be able to watch it subbed once I wake up so I don't need to google or enter any social site so I'm not spoiled.

It just dawned on me that if Ash win's this, this victory would have been almost 20 fucking years in the making from the 1997 date of the first Japanese episode.

If he actually wins that shit will be everywhere online. Especially reddit.

No way you will be able to avoid it since it's been an on running joke for 2 decades.Similar to the whole undertaker and mania thing.

I guess if Sun and Moon don't have Pokemon gyms it might make sense for Ash to win this league and then go to Alola to help set up a league there as Champion?

well they don't have a league, but he could go down there as a vacation/relaxation after winning, then realizes there is still a pokemon competiton then ditches his waifu so he can go win it.

I just hope he doesn't get the buff cat or the seal mermaid

Yep. Lots of people in their mid 20s have been waiting for this moment even if they didn't know it tell now.

Gary Oak is THE badass of Pokémon and you'd be stupid to argue otherwise.

Dude was driving a convertible at 10, bought with all the money he earned from Pokéwinning most likely, with 20 girls older than him all on his dick.

He earned 10 badges in Kanto. 10.

Fuck Ash and his stupid friends lmao

Did all that and still only made top 32 in the Indigo Plateau.

kayos90

Tragic victim of fan death
What would be worse, the animators made Ash finally win so people will at last stop watching the anime? Or maybe they'll stop watching the anime cuz Ash lost. What would cause the bigger exodus?

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Yup, it's more indicative since that 1 on 1 had Ash with a pokemon he had since Kanto being beat with ease by Gary with a pokemon he'd only had since Sinnoh, so it really shows that Gary is a far better trainer then Ash
Not really? Gary stated he had Electivire for a long while and the mon Ash faced was new. Also he was severely overpowered in that that pokemon had a Motor Drive.

Why do people always ignore context when bringing up Gary?

because he is a 10 year old that drives a convertible with cheerleaders

what is context to a guy like that? nothing

I'm making a thread, if Basketball can get one, sure we can too. Also its the only way to get a poll.

When the payoff is watching the Golden State Warriors lose, it's deserves its own sub section
