I'll probably be leaning on you guys to help me pick games I'll be playing during the steam. I try to keep them recent (within the last 18 months), available on Steam (obviously), and having Steam achievements (because I'm somewhat shallow and like to look back after 24 hours and see all the stuff I've unlocked). Also, obviously, I'd like them to be at least somewhat entertaining to watch and not so challenging with puzzles and such that people don't have to sit and watch me figure something out for 20 minutes before being able to move on.

So far I'm thinking:

Abzu
Telltale Batman
Xcom 2
Inside
Slime Rancher
Firewatch
Technomancer
Hyper Light Drifter
Danganronpa
Superhot
Deus Ex MD
Hitman GO

Maybe some more, not sure

Momodora IV might be a good pick? Not sure if you have played it, but it's rather short, and from what I've played and from the speedruns I watched, seems well fitted for a stream (which is usually the case with good games in the genre, like Super Metroid).

Has anyone played Oxenfree? I heard a few people recommend it as their GOTY. I ended up picking that one up today.

Oxenfree would be a strong contender for my GOTY if it wasn't for the fact that the ending is a mess and it completely derails the entire plot. It still upsets me just think about how bad they wrapped up the story, ugh. Haven't played the NG+ though, which I've heard that improves the game significantly.

I may be late to the party but for those not aware

If you bought the neogeo 25 anniversary bundle from humble bundle a long time ago , the following games now have Steam keys.

Baseball Stars 2
Metal Slug 2
Twinkle Star Sprites

I'm currently on the non-beta branch in both clients, and In-Home Streaming between my Mac (wifi) and PC (ethernet) is currently not working.

Network settings/router settings haven't changed.

I notice that 'Enable Streaming' in the Preferences of the Mac client unchecks itself every time I restart the Mac client, that seems to indicate to me that this is a software issue, and not a network issue?

Far Cry 3's second island has already raised above my expectations. I didn't think there would be
eight more gun unlocks
, enemy soldiers in body armor, enemies showing up with fireproof suits and flamethrowers, new flora craft materials as well as grass and tree variations (which is just window dressing, sure).

I spotted a multi-tier waterfall made for riding a jet ski down and thought, "That looks fun," but both sides of the canyon were abandoned mines with soldiers and dogs patrolling so I went for that. Fighting through that was the most "Far Cry" sequence I've had in 3 yet. Sneaking, long distance arrow sniping, cover, grenade launching across the river, and a handful of ziplines back and forth between the sides. It was hilarious to watch two dogs alert to me and path themselves down three sets of scaffolding, across a bridge, and up a flight of stairs to find me. I hope that set isn't intended for a scripted story mission that I'll return to later (I wouldn't be surprised if it is), because it was such a fun free-form experience just the way it was.

I don't follow what Sam was saying with my newfound
uniform,
because everyone seems to shoot at me on sight, apart from my boys in blue.

Did somebody say Taco Tuesday?

So how did this stacked month turn out?

Steam reviews for August thus far

This is the Police - 86% very positive

Telltale Batman - 72% mostly positive

No Man's Sky - 51% mixed

Grow Up - 92% very positive

F1 2016 - 91% very positive

Deus Ex: MD - 63% mixed

Overall a solid month. Telltale Batman and Deus Ex will definitely go up over time. I don't know about NMS as it seems to be very divisive.

Also the player base for NMS has dropped very badly. From more than 200k concurrent in launch day to now just 18k people playing D:

Surprised This is the Police is reviewing so well. I thought it pretty quickly became a total slog. It's not good on the management side, and the story side is...odd, though it does have some highlights.

It's also a 10 hour game stretched into like a 25 hour one.

So far I'd be rating Deus Ex at 90+. The performance has been excellent, the gameplay is fun, story is intriguing so far, world is amazing put together, looks amazing. Only issue so far is frustrating bugs

So it's New Vegas.

No where near that bad.

At 16:10 exclusive full screen is at the wrong aspect ratio, with borderless there are certain UI elements that are the wrong ratio.

It is possible to open a quick menu for equipment, open the main menu pressing ESC, and then returning to the game is broken where part of the menu is there but you can't do anything other than reach the main menu and restart.

Weird graphical glitch on ultra textures in one cutscene where main lady has yellow dots everywhere when at close range. That stops after a few seconds as the scene moves on.

Changing settings breaks birds. They get stuck still and just flap away!

Mouse sensitivity at default is absurdly high. At 0 sensitivity it's OK but it feels off, like there might be acceleration, but the 0 sensitivity is still playable, any higher and it gets weird

Ya'll get excited to give Sony 25 bucks to use your 60 dollar controllers on PC.

Valve puts their controller on sale for 35 and you're there having an existential crisis.

If it means I can get Sony-made drivers for my DS4 I'm happy.

I like the Steam controller a lot for FPS games and 2D games, but for third person action games I can't seem to get the right pad to react how I expect it. Too much time wasted when I could be playing games.

I don't think there are vaults anymore. They haven't done those in months i think...

There was one two or three months ago during which AWbot proved everyone who doubted his randomness right. I assume they've put vaults on hold after that mess and have been talking about a new system but I'm not sure what the status is, I tuned out when seeing the same games over and over became boring, don't think streaming daily for so many hours was a good move.

For you.
Still not sure why so many people want DS4 drivers... outside of like maybe having the headphone jack functionality, i can't see anything else.

I wish I liked Steam controller. It just doesn't fit in my hands all that well.

With MS being shit with their drivers and Sony's awful battery life and symmetrical stick placement, I'd love if Valve made a more traditional controller just for me that would just work.

Its not easier at all is my point.

Seems unlikely, to say the least.

I don't see how an official driver isn't easier. Very few games really use the DINPUT and notice the PS4 Controller specifically. An official driver could make it xinput naturally while still have some sort of indicator that it's a PS4 controller, so games that do support PS prompts active with the correct ones.

Since for the Xinput side of things you're still using a wrapper or program running in the background. Maybe unlikely, but I can still understand why people want an official sort of thing for the controller.
Rather than just praying someone decides to support it. Or having to use third party tools, as easy as they may be.

But Sony isn't going to release drivers for it using Xinput. If they release any official drivers, they will be used purely by their own apps, and essentially be useless everywhere else.

We're talking theoretically, if they wanted to really push on the DS4 as a PC controller officially. Like lets say they were just selling this DS4 dongle just for PC gaming and not even talking about PSnow. At that sort of point I could see them just saying fuck it and using Xinput. They sure aren't going to make a new controller standard on PC.

Regardless of all that since the controller is dinput, there's no reason to really add any other drivers to the thing. Since it can be identified as a PS4 controller in games that support it.

So overall I can understand why people want it, but as you said it's very unlikely.

Thank the Digital Gods for Scarlet.crush. stuff so good, Emulation Wiki's first step was uninstalling MotionInJoy. really paved the way for the current drivers

Does Scarlet.Crush/ScpToolkit support button remapping yet? Specifically switching the DPAD and the joystick.
This missing feature is literally the only reason I'm still using MotioninJoy. Even though I've wiped all the crapware from MiJ, it'd be nice to use an actually supported driver.

Well after they got rid of having to use the Toshiba bluetooth stack I'm not sure why not? It's not like it's plagued by malware like MotioninJoy.

For me, all I need is an open USB port and it is no muss no fuss. I have ran into problems in the past with unofficial drivers flaking out so it is nice to have something that Windows will always see as a 360 controller.

?

There are plenty of prerendered cutscenes in this game, pretty much all cutscenes in Dubai are prerendered.

Actually, you're right. I guess I remember someone in the Digital Foundry thread the other day said that it's real-time. It's a mix between real-time and pre-rendered it seems.

How dare you.
lol

It's been pushed back a year. And i"m perfectly happy with that
a whole year? i forget when the original date was

honestly, no issue by me, i kind of enjoy reading the kickstarter updates as much as playing the game itself

I still have my pathologic installer file archived so no immediate interest. It depends on big fixes and "port" quality to rebuy.
that's the remake page tho, not the remaster

Sean Murray has started a trend. Edit: Wait, the game was released this February...
?? context? what did they say?

also it's kind of funny that i know some of these people

hope they do ok

Procedurally generated all-white teams? Problematic. Edit: To Early Access.
people in buenos aires are mostly white, idk what you can do about it?

Found a random Twitch Podcast where they were doing a segment where they just do two second potshots at games in Steam Greenlight. Disgusting.

Turns out it was TotalBiscuit. Shouldn't be too surprised, really.

For you.
probably a reaction to the Season Pass content reveal

That sounds unlikely. Pretty sure it's product of a price mistake of some kind. I doubt everyone just all of the sudden decided to sell this specific edition all at the same time when keys for PS4 digital downloads can only be gotten from a couple of places.

maybe they are keys from that program where Gamestop managers or whatever can get certain games for cheap

I know there's been a lot of drama in that thread before over stuff like that...just my guess
