More Pokemon Sun and Moon News in Sept 6th

Just wanted to point something out I noticed while watching the Japanese trailer, but doesn't the Ultra Beast have a lot of similarities with Lillie? Like the hat, and dress and hair all seem to coincide. Also coloring I suppose.

I thought it was her at first too.

The site description makes it even more blant.

Im a bit concerned about the only night time for Moon. Is that realyl the case?

No. The time's are just swapped.

In the Japanese trailer you also see it being a clear bright sunny day in Moon so I don't think so.

So if I get it right, if you have Sun and play during the day it'll be day, in the evening sunset and in the night, night. But when playing Moon, it's dark when playing during the day, sunrise at night and day when you play in the night?

This Type: Null guy is weird.

I also need more information on Ultra Beasts, are they catchable? Do they have real names?

Sun and Moon support Virtual console's Red/Blue/Yellow, so what if Type: Null is simply the Pokemon you get when you try to move Missingno from R/B/Y to S/M? Type: Null could be the real form of Missingno

But how do you get the idea that the forms and Megas and stuff are instead of new Pokemon, or that they won't do both?

There are a lot of things that happened with XY that could be attributed with impacting the number of new Pokemon . I would think having to create 3d models and animations and figure out the whole battle system for 3d would have a bigger impact than anything else. Not exactly a good time to add 150 new Pokemon, you know?

Because that's usually not how development works. You have different teams working on different aspects of the game, so an animator is not working on Overworld Designs or on Pokemon Designs at the same time, for example.

They ended up adding 122 in Gen VI. That's a solid enough number

Yes, I count Megas

Of course you would, but I only have like 2 and 1/8th Boxes filled with Pokemons of X/Y instead of 4 and 1/8.

Love both the English and Japanese trailer, so cool, so much info. Looks like the Aether Foundation are going to be the true main villains of this game, or they are the second "evil" team of the game, alongside Team Skull, kind of like Team Magma vs. Team Aqua.

Also, Leader of the Aether Foundation is Lillie's sister confirmed? :p

I noticed exactly this too. Think it is intentional.

Also, $20 says it turns out Team Skull are good guys and Team Aether are evil. Or both are. Either way, Team Aether is definitely a set of bad guys.

Nope, just 12 hours later. See the Japanese trailer - by the time you reach the city in Sun, its night, but in Moon, its day time.

I would love so much much for this to be true.

The official site description confirms the movements of UB-01 resemble the movements of a certain young girl. So yeah, there's definately a connection with Lillie.

Since I'm getting Moon, I guess it'll always be 6am-8am whenever I play in my game (since I mostly play games from 6-8 on weekdays at least)

Hopefully there's nothing that requires you to play in the "afternoon" in Moon, because that'd be in the wee hours of the morning.

completely baseless speculation: UB-01 is Lillie and the reason she looks tsundere is because she doesn't like humans but is curious about them.

I actually got a Dragon/Electric vibe from the little quadruped dragon, what with the little glow-ey bulbs on its head and tail.

Aether is evil and they're related to AZOTH and Zygarde. Lillie is secretly an alien Pokemon. Leader of Aether is also an alien. Type: Null was created by Aether and it's a Missingno. Easter egg

This generation is ridiculous, and I love it. They're going back to Gen 1's bizarre SciFi dystopia roots that have been ignored ever since.

Gen IV had a man create a chain from three lake faeries to capture the literal personification of time and space while Gen V's second entry saw the use of technology to splice one Legendary into another and Gen VI had the villain's craft an unusual device to drain the life of the legendary's life. Even Gen III had this to an extent with the meteorite originally planned to cause a volcano to create more land or more water for the world. This series has always been a ridiculous blend of science fiction and fantasy by way of Dragon Quest V/Megami Tensei Rated E. Also: Dystopian? There are many words to describe the world of Pokémon, but dystopian is not one of them.

Can you explain what excluding the Mew/Mewtwo subplot is supposed to be scifi, no even speaking of dystopian?

To the best of my recollection, while the DNA Splicer was obviously not a natural thing, it wasn't man-made either.
Something something return the dragons to their original form(e).

Type: Null could be a failed experiment to clone Arceus. Which means that there could be a successful one.

Yep, I think the lore was something along the lines of Kyurem being an empty shell of a thing that split into Resharim and Zekrom or something like that

Oh goodie, more potential Gen I pandering along with the Snap successor...

Remember when Game Freak did stuff with the other generations of Pokémon?

I'm 90% sure this is an Arceus reference. But EVEN IF that was a missigno form who cares? It's a completely different design and it's gen 7. Complaining about the vaguest of gen 1 connections is so weird.

You guys are taking my opinion way too seriously. Gen I had a focus on technology and genetically engineered Pokemon that hasn't really been revisited, ignoring Genesect and a few Ghost/Steel types. Bill splicing himself with a Pokemon, the Pokemon Mansion, Mewtwo, Porygon, etc. There was a certain level of darkness behind the scenes. Gens 2 to 5 focused on pantheons of gods, with technology being delegated to game gimmicks.

Can you explain what excluding the Mew/Mewtwo subplot is supposed to be scifi, no even speaking of dystopian?

Bill turning into a Pokemon, the power plant, the Pokemon Mansion, all of the failed laboratory experiments and genetically engineered Pokemon. It was a huge plot point in Gen I, and later gens focused moreso on mysticism (pantheons of gods) and naturalism.

nice headcanon there

I never said it was canon; it's my interpretation of the series. You can believe whatever the hell you want.

Gen I barely had a plot and none of these elements are anything more than background elements, many of which have tropes more in line with those found in JRPGs i.e. a character trapped in a different body being played off for comedy, an area whose design contrasts with the more lighthearted ones found elsewhere in the game, etc., that don't contribute to the plot in any meaningful manner. Heck, you could skip over the info in the Pokémon Mansion that hints at experiments both fruitful and futile that took place there.

Interpretation =/= Facts. Just because you believe something to be there doesn't make it true.

We already had a generation of main games pandering towards Gen I nostalgia/design. It's called X/Y. Give it a rest for the series 20th anniversary.
