At the very least i know this game will look stunning in 1080p mode with the supersample.

Major difference in texture clarity

I'm trying real hard to see the difference...

I need to keep reminding myself that the one on the left is supposed to be the superior one...

What am I looking for exactly?

Er...the screenshot on the Right looks way better and those PS4 Pro shots look like a dithered mess to me. Plus those textures are still standard PS4. Does all the power go to resolution only?

This does seems encouraging at all (but I am looking at these on a 1080p iMac display, rather than a 4K display).

The textures are usually gonna be the same...the benefit is added clarity from higher resolution display which you won't get the full picture from unless you're viewing it on a 4K screen.

Try zooming in on the environment and you can see how the IQ in the Pro shot holds up

You know, I'm really passionate about gaming but this industry is turning in to a complete mess. This generation has been a complete mess. Console manufacturers, for some reason, are looking to fabricate a cost effective PC rather than focus on what made console gaming great in the first place.

All this fragmentation is unnecessary (hardware and software).

People thought Krazy Ken was an idiot but, right now, his creative engineering is way ahead of all this standardised iterative crap. I don't want a PC, I want a games console with bespoke hardware that kicks-ass.

The console space is being intruded and ruined.

Considering I don't know when the fuck we'll get TLoU2 I cannot wait for this game.

It's going to look absolutely amazing on a Pro as well.

well that sucks. HDR just kills response time.

Yea, but 60 ms is still more than acceptable for single player experiences and sub 20 is more than great for competitive play. Flip of a switch and you get the best of both worlds. Unlike some of use that are permanently stuck with 60+ ms lag for everything, which even then the only time it truly bothered me was with Olli Olli.

Look at the file format of the two images Sony Bend tweeted.

I'm glad we were able to establish that Sony Bend sabotaged their own efforts here by posting JPGs.

But somehow, I doubt the shots in .png will yield radically different results. The grain is a result of the PS4's 4K "efforts".

krazy ken's engineering almost killed the playstation brand, lettuce not.

I think you're being delusional.

PS3 was a mess for most of its life time, and you're looking at it with rose tinted glasses.
Console have always been PCs, more or less, because that's what they are, just a PC with fixed specs and maybe some custom modification of the hardware, but there's not much of a difference.
Now they've been smart enough to use components that are easy to understand and work with, so that developers can port games from one platform to another quickly and efficiently, which is especially important for Indie devs.

Nothing is ruined, you don't want the PRO? Stick with the PS4, and pretend it's the only option, but let's stop drinking the Cell KoolAid, when just a handful of devs practically had the will, time and budget to really make it worth it, and all others had jump around its weirdness, by all accounts.

I must be the only one seeing a bunch of dithering/grain in these shots.

Where is the flawless IQ some posters are talking about?

You know, I've read through the thread and I don't think I've seen anyone saying the game has flawless IQ.

It's largely a mix of praise saying the IQ is fantastic/great with others pointing out the artification as a flaw.

This makes me wonder if moving forward we will ever again see pre release footage of regular ps4 games

Oh well. One more reason to not buy games day 1

Looks shallow and boring. Being able to shoot at hundreds of enemies on screen is a shallow "hook". Mechanics also looked pretty bad.
Days Gone looks more interesting than Gears and Dead Rising combined now those look super boring and uninteresting

Wow, thought Daryl got his own Walking Dead game.. I'm more curious how the upscaling looks in motion on a TV than in screenshots. I bet there will be some funkiness(similar to what you would see in games with TXAA)

In those games felt great to kill things, in here it looks as uninteresting and boring to kill anything, killing feedback from audio to visual is incredible lacking.

They need to fix the feeling of actual gunplay and general gameplay if they want to have a great game, as it is I will not touch it even at half price.

Sure looks pretty tho.

Game doesn't look that great even on the pro. It looks nice, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't wow me much at all.

My problem with 4k resolution is that, yes, it obviously delivers a very nice extremely sharp image. However, in doing so it exposes flaws that are more easily hidden behind something that is 900p or 1080p. Blocky models, poorly placed sprites with no shadows, etc. etc.

For an example of what I'm talking about look at old N64 games when they are emulated. To me they look awful in high resolution. All of the softness is gone and all of the flaws you otherwise wouldn't notice as much now have a spotlight on them.

I'm excited for 4K gaming, but I just don't feel like the hardware even on the Pro is ready for it yet. The assets underneath these 1080p or lower games simply aren't ready. Horizon looks great in 4k, sure, but while watching the trailer I couldn't help but notice all the graphical pop in, some of the less than perfect object and character models, etc. I really do think 4K is something that should have just been saved for the PS5.

The irony is the LG 6150 is a WRGB panel that substitutes a white subpixel for either the R, G, or B in each trio. With colored material, this represents a 25-33% resolution loss on average so you might say they're more like 3K rather than 4K. It's also an 8bit panel rather than 10, so there's real validity in dubbing it Fake-HDR as well. An 8bit panel physically can not display the increased number of luminance and color gradations/shades/steps that is HDR's name sake. A P series Vizio shits on the 6150 from a great height.

Ummm no. I'm not saying Vizio are bad but in that price range and size(65") The LG is competitively priced, looks better and has lower input lag. I looked at the whole Vizio lineup. LG looks better

Looks fan-freaking-tastic! More examples like these in the days/months to come. The Pro will do juuuuust fine me thinks.

youre kidding right. look at the jacket the depth of the jacket is apparent and looks realistic by looking like a patch vs the right where its a flat element. lol
