ReCore uses "sandwich time" tech once you die (edit: or not?)

Posted these because I saw some posters talking about "waiting for a more credible source"; dude got the game early both as physical and digital

https://youtu.be/XBA4lTVlubc

Livestream of gameplay right now, more 30-40 second loading screens, along with all the other people

All I've seen is that twitter guy with the 2 min loading screens, Dad (as in the poster here) did say there is a 2 minute loading screen when starting the game though

I mean I've been seeing mainly good impressions from people. I don't think I've seen anybody say it's awful

It looks far from awful. Its my most looked forward to game this fall next to Gears 4, so i'm banking on it being good, otherwise it will be a wash of a Holliday season for games. Please be good lol.

Maybe the guy on Twitter got an Xbox One S with a failing 2TB hard drive. Could that explain some of the issues he's reporting compared to what others appear to be experiencing?

People got defective hard drives in them? I didn't here about that.

Not that I'm aware of, but there's always a failure rate for hard drives, especially after shipping/stocking in retail. Higher capacity drives tend to have higher failure rates.

Was going to report on the Sonic 06-tier loading times & various bugs/issues on 3wirel but they seem to be limited to one player. The rest of impressions and footage you guys posted indicate that the game runs/plays fine, just that one user got a bad install or his hard drive is busted/corrupted.

Glad to see the game not be a broken mess (like Sonic 06) or have serious performance issues (like Mighty No. 9 Wii U).

This is the wierdest fucking request I'm gonna make lol, but I'm going to ask it for the Twitter user in the OP for the sake of fairness because he's challenging my post saying that he only meant death loading screens

Can somebody with an early copy of the game, die in the game over and over and see if they are hitting 2 minutes when they reload?

Again, nobody else has this issue so far, but for the sake of fairness and clarity yadda yadda

Those load times are as bad or almost as bad as Quantum Break. Which has fucking ATROCIOUS load times.

Might as well call this game...ReLoad amirite? Huh? Ah?

I absolutely cannot get the clip to upload from my Xbox (I'm guessing the guy in the OP is using a capture device), but my last load from death clocks in at 1:48

Yeah Xbox clips won't upload until the game officially launches. 1:48 for a load from death sounds pretty awful though.

Ok, so I played ReCore and for the most time there is no loading problem. On most parts the loading varies from 20s to 45s. But when i got to this section of the video (Core Foundry) thing gone really really bad and it took almost 2 minutes. I have this early patch but I hope Armature fix this on the day-one patch.

EDIT: There is another dungeon called The Crib that takes some time to load too (someting like 1m20s)

EDIT2: Hard crash and some fps drop.

How are you liking the game so far?

That's the best looking footage so far and it looks smooth. How are some people getting such janky looking video?

Properly recording equipment is my guess. :)

Here is some more.

This is probably my last video until the game launches, I show fof how different you can customize your corebots, fast traveling and some of the larger map, and the coolest thing I've seen so far the Challenge Dungeons. Actual decent platforming!

How about reading the thread instead of assuming. Dad has said in previous page that he's had long load times and below this he clocked almost 2 minutes on death.

Technical problems aside, the game actually seems fun in that B PS2 game, Sphinx and iNinja, sort of way. I'll hold out to see how the PC version fares, and I suppose hold out longer for it to be on Steam, but I want to play it.

Pretty sure it's UE4.
ReCore is HIGHLY modified Unity. So much so, not sure why they even picked it. In all seriousness, it is somewhat baffling why the team picked Unity.

Open World (ish)
Deform terrain
Large scale particles
On Console

You think with all the work that Lionhead did with the UE4 codebase with Dynamic Global Illumination, that UE4 would have been the instant choice. But sometimes people want to make things more challenging.

Curious how ReCore will do :\

Hyperlight Drifter was fine
Unity is fine if you build around is strengths and understand its weaknesses. Hyperlight Drifter, INSIDE, Ori, Galak-Z and others all understand what makes the engine & tools great, but also understand there are real limits in where you can take Unity.

ive been playing skyrim and the loading screen every time i die is starting to drive me insane. like cmon, this stuff was already loaded, but the game appears to be unloading all of the geometry and redoing it cuz whatever. its one of those things that makes me believe devs assign an arbitrary duration for loading screens, and it only exists to shield your eyes from the horrors that take place when an area is summoned

i hope this isnt for real though ofc. a 2 minute loading time for a scenario like that in 2016 has to be a mistake. i dont know much about recore, but it never struck me as something particularly absurd in the graphics department, either

its probably the engine they know best (or its just easier for them, idunno). grasshopper manufacture made killer is dead using unreal engine 3, despite that being jank af on console (or at least the xbox). yknow, notable screen tearing despite the game running at 30fps, for example. the PC version was a port of the console version, and it doesnt run unlike garbage. its really weird, but its just what they were most comfortable and familiar with

I'm starting to come around on this game TBF. With the last gameplay footage from Polygon, I got a bad taste in my mouth due to the combat. Seems they were just playing it wrong. Game looks like much more fun from the live streams I've checked up to now.

It still feels a bit janky. Animations aren't great and there are some weird bugs here and there. So yeah, the polish isn't great, but it does seem like fun.
Also, the bots are really cute and charming and I like the music.

Then it does seem somethings up, theres a few inconsistent results, somebody said something about the Core Foundry triggering it?

Trust me. Don't. If you're going to accuse anybody of skimming through anything related to this, you picked the worst person. I've been constantly asking people what their experience is.

Hyperlight Drifter wasn't Unity. It's Game Maker. If it were Unity it wouldn't have just had it's Vita and Wii U versions cancelled.

Game clearly has technical problems and those load times are rough

Still looking forward to it though and the price makes it easier to swallow
