I mean oti xero basically summarized that for you? In the same page?

Yeah sorry, just saw the post you mean. The question is why did they show Breath of the Wild at Frankfurt? Wasnt it at gamescom too? Unless Gamescom demo was Wii U and Frankfurt demo something else, which isnt allowed to leave the building. As I said 2-3 hour drive. I never thought about that probably a NX is already sitting in Frankfurt...

I could easily see them prepping retail for the device, informing of expected dates, prices, software, sales expectations etc...to try and get space in retail.

Maybe they're thinking if they treat the retail bigwigs like VIPs and give them the heads up before oh so many, then retail will treat their new device in the same way and give it a good push in store. I remember when I pre-ordered my Wii U in GAME, there was literally no push initially, only seemed to be in the last weeks before launch, and that was on the back of the Wii.

I've worked with NoE in the past and actually asked the Chef of PR about this very subject. (Not this current thing, mind you. Just in general.) Why does NoE invite others to Frankfurt instead of holding events elsewhere?

All this means is that whatever Nintendo is showing is not allowed to leave NoE under any circumstances. Sometimes this happens with games. Breath of the Wild for instance was Frankfurt only while Splatoon got its own event in Hamburg. In general, the more important something is the more likely it will be locked on NoE HQ.

G.

Stupid question, had the games already been revealed by this time?

This is where I expect fake leaks moreso than actual leaks.

Some person on Twitter will claim to be from Germany and say he attended this event. He'll then state the price in American currency for some reason, a March release date written in MM/DD/YY, launch software, amiibo, and finally, what the NX is with its dimensions written in inches and weight in lbs.

I think this European event will only amount to actual NX news if we get a conformation for a similar event at NOA or NCL very, very soon -- there's no way European retailers get their hands on the system before American (or Japanese, for that matter) retailers do. It just wouldn't be practical from an information-containment perspective.

IT´S HAPPENING!!!

(now to read the thread and find out it´s not actually happening).

Guess it is happening.

As for why only retailers. Nintendo has to show them so that the retailers will buy stock, since they we´re left sitting on a ton of WiiUs that didn´t sell. They have to be like, "Look at this fucking thing, LOOK AT IT! The NX, it´s gonna sell. Look at me, i´m the captain now".

And since this thing is obviously not the actual reveal to the public, no need for journalists.

This is not a stupid question at all. Yes, it had been revealed by that time. Also keep in mind that I'm not a retailer.

Gist is, this is either just a presentation of the fall lineup for retailers or(/and) something that is not allowed to leave Nintendo HQ.

Something is moving, though it's hard to see a connection between retailers and Nintendo meeting and NX announcement...Perhaps Nintendo want to reveal this console in a new way, like revealing it in retailer stores

Sony and MS are also showing off their consoles to Retailers before the public. That's pretty common.

It must not necessarily have anything to do with NX. I had to sign an NDA at gamescom for the NES Classic Mini. Lower your expectations. ;-)

They would do NX along with their winter line up imo. If it's being announced this year and not in January.

I think it's Jan.

So basically a reveal like the saturn launch? Here is our console and you can buy it TODAY!

In Nintendo's case it would be, yeah this is the NX, you need to play it...so how about you go to Saturn, Mediamarkt or Gamestop and try it for yourself? With the right demos it could actually be a smart turn... guys we already overhyped arent we?

How do you think that retailers magically have preorder pages up and ready to go mere seconds after an announcement?

You're not getting an announcement here, it just prepares them instead.

Oh... It would be so awesome if one of those leaks happen on the store pages online of Amazon and the like.

It seems to me the former is more likely. Having said that, preparing for a console launch takes a lot of time, so either is plausible :D

On the other hand working in normal retail, a lot of the fall stuff is planned much further ahead than late September. We already have our christmas stock, catalogues are already printed etc etc. I'm sure that we ordered our christmas stock around late july or august. Games industry could work differently though, but i would think that Nintendo plans for Nes Mini, Pokemon and Colour Splash are already set in place.

NES Classics Mini is developed/made in Germany. Gonna be a killer holiday product, too. It's not NX guys. Take a deep breath.

I'm amazed at how tight Nintendos 'operation no leaks' has been,i don't remember any console having as little info as we've got before launch, albeit were still months from it technically.

This wont be about the NES Mini, retailers were informed about that months ago. Hell Amazon had enough time to preorder it and it already sold out...this has to be something for 2017 I believe, everything else seems way to late...

It could just be "hey retailers, you remember us? We are still here" with a showing of the new Animal Crossing, Mario Maker, and the Q1 games. Even if they don't have anything to show, it's active customer relationship management.

Obviously would make more sense if they also provided NX info so that these folks don't need to come again very soon.
