There is a 100% chance he's talking out of his ass. I can make predictions too, only I'm sitting at a 1 for 1 accuracy rating.

Some people simply prefer consoles and they wouldn't be wrong in doing so.

I've never said that.

I was simply talking from a technical point of view. Pc does things better and with more options.

But we all know it doesn't mean a thing to some people, and rightfully so.

But acknowledging a fact doesn't hurt anyone's feelings or way of life.

To all console players right here (except the Nintendo dudes):

Do you know that you are currently playing on x86_64 based PCs, right?

Actually, old&slow PCs, despite the new Pro and Scorpio, with no future over 2 years from now.

So all of you are already playing on PC.

My question is: are all of you retards?

:)
PC is the general term for them yes, but you know there's a difference between the words in their usual meaning.

Also, don't use the word 'retard' like that. Seriously. It's in the same level as using 'gay' as a slur.

I totally agree with this guy on this...
You know when someone's statement sounds incredibly stupid, you might wanna give something more as to why you agree with it.

No.

A PC superiority complex is hatred. A passion for European ethnic purity will naturally lead to less tolerance for scientifically-proven lesser races. Being less tolerant about something =/= hatred for that thing. For example, athletes are less tolerant of foods and treats that are high in calories. Does that mean that athletes hate McDonald's, chocolate, and pizza? Nope.

y'know, i've never really thought about it that way

I don't disagree. I replied directly to the individual claiming there is no good reason to play outside a PC. I disagree even if PC is my platform of choice.

Fair enough should've checked the statement you were responding too. I also agree with your sentiment being a agnostic platform gamer as the bulk of my favorite titles to this day are mostly arcade versions of things sans a few titles which are strictly pc/console.

I always laugh at those stupid threads people post here like "I don't understand why anyone would game on console anymore". That was a pretty recent one. It's just willful ignorance and intellectual laziness. Not to mention petty as fuck.

This is really bait-y.

It is a very lazy statement to make if all he's going off of is the "PC master race" joke, which is what it seems like. Where is this "not venturing outside" sentiment even coming from? Is there surveys to back that up somewhere? I hear about plenty of people who may play a majority of games on their PC, BUT have a console for exclusive games/to play with friends/ to use as a media box for other stuff as well as gaming/etc.

And calling anyone "arrogant twits" is rather hostile not a good look regardless.

There's extremists on every platform. There's guys who only play on Sony, there's guys who only play on Nintendo and there's guys who only play on Microsoft.

You fell that way every minute, I can see...

Explain to me in no uncertain terms why it's okay
much less actually sensible
to say that "PC gamers are like racists".
Give supports that show PC gamers acting 'like racists'. At the same time, demonstrate that you know what racism is, how racists act, and how it hurts people.

you're not going to get too far into writing that post unless you've really got no self-awareness at all.

I'm just saying that technically speaking, PC outperforming console in almost every regard is factual. But to call gaming on PC factually better than anything else completely disregards an individuals situation and preference. And to me, that's what ultimately determines "better".

Racism is hatred. A passion for good performance will naturally lead to less tolerance for bad performance. Being less tolerant about something =/= hatred for that thing. For example, athletes are less tolerant of foods and treats that are high in calories. Does that mean that athletes hate McDonald's, chocolate, and pizza? Nope.

Actually racism doesn't even need hatred.

I'm just saying that technically speaking, PC outperforming console in almost every regard is factual. But to call gaming on PC factually better than anything else completely disregards an individuals situation and preference. And to me, that's what ultimately determines "better".

Of course you would have to define your values to claim that it's better or worse.
Evidently if we're talking about the values pushed by Sony or MSFT, it's self evident that consoles fare less than ideally than PCs.

This really ruffled some feathers, huh?
Yes, it did.

Well, people got called 'like racists' for just playing games on a platform.
Emphasis mine, he's not talking about "just" playing games, he goes on more .. like that these people generally dont like to mix with other community from a different platform and look down to them as well.

I agree with Pachter on this with this additional detail - not all PC gamers are like this, generally most are.

I don't think they're comparable. I only play games on PC* because the kind of games that I play straight up don't exist on console or, in the case of first-person shooters, require you to play them with a control scheme that I loathe. It's not about brand loyalty, it's about actual, tangible things. There's a difference.

* - I bought a Wii U to play Bayonetta 2 and the new Zelda, which doesn't even exist yet.

i get what he's trying to say, i mean, fucking tribalism not different from console wars, just hating all consoles equally while riding on the mustard race, but fuck, he just said it in the most overblown, hyperbolic and sensasionalist way possible.

Tribalism is a thing in gaming, no fucking shit Pachter.

you know that silly laugh that really stupid cartoon characters do when they just got away with fucking with someone?

like it sort of sounds like Goofy laughing. You know what I'm talking about. Patrick Star's done it a couple of times.

That laugh. That goddamn laugh. Is the only thing I can think of when people come through a thread just to say

boy

people's jimmies sure aren't on straight in here

as they run off into the distance giggling and trying not to trip over their buck teeth

I totally hate the way the 'master race' thing became so big. It should be ironic, but people take it way too serious. Especially the subreddit is such an unclassy place. Whenever someone mentions console it's all 'potato' or 'peasant' which also upsets me. It's such a mess. Too say it's similar to racism is a huge stretch considering the heavy history racism carries with itself, but the way PC gamers have created this type of 'better than you' persona online is really annoying.

What an incredibly misguided thing to say. Pachter is normally pretty harmless in his buffoonery, but this definitely crosses a line.

I'm not a fan of these pissing matches in general, but this is just asinine.

He makes an analogy and it's pretty on point. Any smart person world know he isn't putting both things at the same level. But well, we all can see how gamers react to words without reading beyond that.

It's true hundreds of millions of people are playing PC games and they're all looking down on you!

To be fair, it never fucking stops with some hardline PC gamers. No, I don't care if you think gaming on PC is better, and no, such and such game is either first-party or probably won't sell well at a retail price acceptable to the publisher, it shouldn't be ported to PC.

Not always. There's no standard. I mean there are people gaming with GTX 500 series video cards, some even with integrated graphics. That's not better than a PS4.

There's something subtly hilarious about so many people posting in this topic, "Well they do use the Master Race slogan."

It's funny how prone to argument gaming discussions are considering that on the fundamental level, we are all doing it for the same reason. We love gaming. But for some odd reason, we have to wave our dicks at each other. Everyone in this thread should have put their gaming differences aside for just a moment and agree that Pachter should not be representing any of us..

He makes an analogy and it's pretty on point.

I basically asked you to explain why it's on-point.

It's really not. It's not even close to on-point. And that's been pointed out a lot more than once in here. I'd be interested in knowing why you believe otherwise.

I'm not insinuating that he's putting racism and video game fanboyism on equal levels, either. The analogy doesn't even hold when you remove THAT from the equation.

Analogies are comparisons that put things on the same level.

If they aren't, then why use the comparison?

That's the point of comparisons, to show things that are similar.

Why is electronic gaming box preference the same as racism?

Hmmm... so what do you do when you see some console exclusives you're interested in? Just buy it like the Wii U?

Sure are a lot of Juniors agreeing with him. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean the Juniors with 200 posts. I mean the Junior'ed. Those that have said something stupid and got their thread creation rights taken away. Not the Juniors. The Junior'eds! They're the problem. I love Juniors, my best friend is a Junior. But the Junior'eds, they've created a real problem in this forum, and until the Junior community addresses its problems, no progress can be made.

I don't agree with the statement or generalizing like that

However I have 4 friends in real life who have strong PC's and they are indeed the types of dudes who regularly go on Facebook and Twitter and share meme's about how shit consoles are.

It is irresponsible of Pacther to make blanket statements like that but there is a grain of truth that the PC community can have members that are judgemental.

Almost had a good troll post there, sadly you couldnt stop yourself and added that last part which made it way too obvious

I don't deny that there can be an air of superiority sometimes among high-end PC users. But the racism comparison is just idiotic, and calling people "arrogant twits" doesn't really seem particularly apt when people do kind of have some legitimate claim to be arrogant about their box vs. the Pro. And this isn't meant to incite console warz, I just mean that the pitch of the Pro is better hardware that plays the same games. If you already have a good gaming rig, you've already been gaming on a box for some time that not only outperforms the PS4, but is also going to outperform the Pro. What does the Pro offer this person?
