Really hope this isn't multiplayer-focused. Although there was a vetted insider who made a thread last year about it having heavy multiplayer elements.

Oh there's no doubt after GTAV Online gigantic success Red Dead will feature a ton of it.

That said the Houser brothers seem to enjoy delivering huge sprawling narrative heavy games. I'm sure there will be plenty of single player content

Speaking of online got me thinking of the possibilities. Forming a posse and riding into town, going on heists and hunting bounties, playing some poker. Customizing your avatar ala GTAV.

If they do continue to go down the three playable characters route...they're totally going to go with a Caucasian protagonist, a female protagonist and a Native American/African-American protagonist.

They already did that in Revolver, central narrative with Red and then "side" missions with other protagonists/antagonists. It's a bit more Halo Reach than GTA5, but it's been done in the Red Dead games before.

Oh really? That's interesting. I never ended up playing Revolver.

On a Sunday day night to calm the shit storm that Mafia 3 is and was regarding the reviews. That didn't take long for R* to change the subject once a product is reviewed bad... With or Without Benz... I guess this is a Fall 2017 game, because no way they will make it out this Spring...

Do rockstar even cooperate with 2K that much? My understanding is that Rockstar are answerable to 2K, but are otherwise left to doi their own thing.

What are the chances of a PC release of Redemption, ON TOP of the 3rd game being announced?

I would actually say somewhat high.

GTA V made a lot of money on PC, and for all intents and purposes that was a double-dip purchase for most people.

I doubt Rockstar gives a shit about Mafia 3 in any way and I seriously doubt Take Two could or even would make Rockstar change its announcement plans for something like that.

Nothing to with with Mafia 3. A decent chunk of people where already speculating the big Rockstar announcement was finally coming in a few weeks because of the up coming Take2 financial earnings.

Even after kind of a iffy year all they have to do is wave the Rockstar flag and all will be forgiven.

Also while I think that "it was meant to be at E3 but was pulled" rumour was BS but there has been enough chatter from enough people who might know that it was obvious R" was close to revealing something.

I wonder if this is getting announced a lot closer to release then a typical Rockstar game which normally get revealed 2 years out. Would explain some of the loose lips and twitchy-ness around the company.

I really hope they don't do multiple again.

I'm the opposite, I really hope they do it again. Absolutely loved it in GTAV and feel like it's a great opportunity to see different point of views of the story you're currently playing. The different personalities and social environment they have brings a lot to the story.

This. I like it as well and hope it's done in this sequel.

Ya I honesly thing rockstar will just have a 6 month hype cycle going forward. Save money on marketing that they don't need. Rockstar is so big in the gaming world that I'm preety sure my grandma knows what Gta is and my parents know what red dead is;)

My wishlist would be:

- Serious but realistic
- three protags or two
- euphoria engine gets revamped. I want the unpredictability of GTAIV's AI
- vast variety of scenery
- Muliplayer is separate from the single player

RD and Scorpio. Aw yeah..

Oh man, imagine RDR for the Scorpio or Pro. Might make me upgrade.

Red Dead sequel on Pro/Scorpio would be amazeballs.

Red Dead 3 on Scorpio is gonna be beautiful...

Man its crazy how well Redemption holds up. That still looks beautiful imo. Sure its not technically up to current generation standards but the atmosphere and art are just so spot on.

The next Red Dead is going to look phenomenal isn't it?

Game still look beautiful to me but yeah, I can't wait to see what San Diego does with the engine fully kitted out for current gen and boosted by Pro and Scorpio.

Awwww yeeeeaaahhhhh ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

IIRC didn't Rockstar or someone mention how they liked Bethesda's turn-around in terms of fallout 4's announcement and then release date?

As long as they've potentially been working on this game (even before GTA V's initial release I'd assume) I don't think it'd be a stretch to have our minds blown with a Christmas release window or an early 2017 March'ish window.

As much as I'd like that I don't see Rockstar having a male Native American and a female as leads. Not without at least one white male. There's too much money at stake for them to executives letting them do that.

The two best selling games from Rockstar either feature minority leads exclusively or in a large role. I'd argue that Franklin is really the main character in GTAV when you get right down to it (
he's ultimately the character that decides the fate of Michael and Trevor and is the only one that can't die
). Chinatown Wars and Ballad of Gay Tony also featured minority leads. So i'm not really sure where you're coming at when you say that they won't be allowed to cast a certain character in the lead role. If high ranking execs were ever going to force their creative vision in a certain direction then that would've happened all the way back with San Andreas.

RDR was a May release and did extremely well so I wouldn't be surprised to see a mid 2017 release window. If the reveal is actually coming soon then I don't expect we'll be waiting until fall of 2017.

Christmas this year? No way in hell in my mind that's happening. But I could see early mid 2017 release if they somewhat go the Fallout 4 way.

I'd expect release sometime around May (Xbox One and PS4 / PS4 Pro) then Scorpio and PC versions in the late fall 2017.

If it released in Christmas this year then I wouldn't even be able to enjoy it because my brain matter would be scattered all over my monitor.

I'd imagine they have learned their lesson from the terrible time they had creating Redemption. Not only was it a clusterfuck until the Benz saved their ass, but we never got it on PC because of how much of a mess the code was, which lost them a ton of extra money.

Is there anywhere to read more info on this? Sounds fascinating.

Just as excited as the rest of you here. Absolutely love Red dead but I hope its just 1 main protagonist. I love GTA V but the story sucked. I want this one to have atleast as good of a story as RDR if not better.

I assume, it's hard to create a good story for a game when for the first half you have to focus on introducing the multiple characters to the players and have them introduce to one another. Only then the real story starts. Until that happens, its all just an introduction to the mechanics, protags and the universe.

Single protagonists mean you get to invest more time to give that single protagonist character depth that keeps the player emotionally invested and interested in him and his quest.

In short, No more multiple protagonists anymore please. It kind of worked for GTA V because story is not the first concern of its player base. But I hope they dont do it to Red dead.

No to the idea of multiple protags please! Having multiple protags will kill any chances of having a lengthy and epic arc for one well made character. I don't want watered down options, I want one strong option. Aside from that, just announce a game, Rockstar.

We already know it's been being worked on for awhile now; we're just waiting for them to admit it and give us a trailer and a date.

It should have been announced awhile ago, lol

Excited for a trailer. I wont give a shit about whatever release date they give. Game will be delayed like 8 times and will be out by 2018 anyways.
