Well a prequel is definitely a safe guess. It pretty much has to be or it's not the wild west anymore.

I think people should keep in mind that the new image may very well be general western/cowboy art that doesn't signify anything meaningful about playable characters or core features before they get too crazy with hype or disappointment.

I wonder if say 4 of the group are Dutch's gang that are basically a supporting cast and the other 3, with more to come, are original characters including the main character? So you're seeing the formation of 2 gangs?
I dunno just throwing ideas out where Rockstar could introduce new characters and a new main while still being a prequel, seeing Dutch's gang and all that.

I just don't get it. He was so damn good. The only thing I can think is publisher/developers are just Lazy with that particular subject and that's why there's so few voice actors actually represented. I mean Troy Baker, Nolan North and are Jennifer Hale are great but using them for every damn big title and having them do multiple roles within the game just gets old.
You and me both! SO invested in that world already. Hopefully a new red dead isn't that far about. Would be great timing.

I don't want it to be a prequel about John. His story is done and over. New protagonists, new story. This is the jump between generations, so they'll break the ties with the old.

Looking low. Makes more sense in this historical context, but I'll still be disappointed if there isn't one.
I loved the suggested info from that highly sketchy leak about characters - 2 playable characters as per GTAV, and the third character is player-made but still present in single player - and I'm dreaming of 1 male protag, one female protag, and the third protag player made. Doubt it will happen though.

The shape in the background immediately made me think of a raccoon-skin cap, which some of you might know is famously associated with Davy Crockett, one of the defenders that died during the Battle of the Alamo.
