What will ultimately anger people the most about this game?

That should pretty much settle it imo. I would have nothing against a female main protagonist but it's their game. Let them make it how they want it.

afaik no one here is breaking into the office and holding them at gunpoint until a female character is added. Criticism doesn't mean we aren't letting them make it how they want.

Maybe we should wait for more information and the trailer before deciding there are no playable female characters. We don't even know if the group in the poster are in fact the characters you play as.

Man, I think this is record time for the amount of hate a game is getting.

Not everyone who's asking for a female main characters "hates" the game. I'll probably love the game. Heck, I can't wait for the game. Just sad that there seemingly, with the information we have right now, won't be a female main character. Again though, time will tell, we barely know anything yet.

or they focus on PS4/XB1. then work on PS4 Pro/Scorpio/PC versions after release..

no wait that's just crazy nonsense apparently. but..that's just what they did with GTA V. focused on PS3/360 then did PS4/XB1/PC.

There are no two different games for PS4 and Pro, same goes for Xbox One and Scorpio. Both will have the best versions with the same disk you're buying.

PS4 Pro and Scorpio are not new "generation" consoles.

i'm tired of early announcements. why can't every studio just do what Bethesda did with Fallout 4? waiting to fall 2017 is crazy.

That was pretty much the cast of the first Red Dead game and it's widely considered the best game ever made. If the story is written for grizzly bearded white dudes is well written. Then bearded grizzly white dudes is all it needs.

I don't know about "widely considered THE best". One of, perhaps. Regardless, that doesn't mean that the Red Dead series shouldn't settle for more. It could be a totally different story, but instead it looks like it's just settling for it's comfort zone.

Yeah, but Revolver wasn't the one that made them a shit ton of money.

If Red Dead Redemption could make millions without any brand recognition other than it's developers I highly doubt that the success of this title is contingent on the word "Redemption" being in it.

better work on your analytics because they must be broken if you don't believe this sells at least 8m to 10m before even coming to pc. The install base is there, the hype has been there waiting and shows like Westworld will only help.

To clarify I meant critical success, in the sense that I think R* will probably just try to do RDR all over again and fans won't perhaps be as delighted by it once more. Sales-wise it will, as you and someone before you also remarked, do well.

First thing I noticed is no female characters. Disappointing.

Then I noticed no PC. Disappointing.

Then I noticed the multiplayer focus. Disappointing.

Of course, it's still Red Dead, so I'm sure it'll be fun, but man, not a good announcement.

Pretty sure 4 members of this all-male cast would demolish the 4 pretty boy members of FFXV before those dudebros even had a chance to finish doing their hair

This racial/feminist thing needs to get out of this thread honestly. I don't why you care, it's just a videogame.. enjoy it for what it is.

Not sure why I had hopes that R* went away with their bs marketing and sales in hopes that people double dip, which unfortunate they do.

At least there's other games on the horizon to look forward to while we wait for two years at which point I might as well wait another year for a sale.

Very hyped for the game. Very disappointed in how they are doing this reveal.

They go years with basically complete radio silence on this game, why change that now?

They should have just announced the game shown the trailer and let people go nuts over it. It makes me wonder why they wouldn't have just talked about the game before?

Can't wait for the high-end PC footage that everyone will think is running on a PS4.

Seriously though, just release the trailer already. :/

dunno if already posted, but the gang picture in a bigger size:

RDR is one of, if not my favorite game of all time. It's strange to feel ambivalent about this so far. I hope the trailer will do something for me. I really don't look forward to going back to Marston and Dutch's Gang for this. Maybe I'll be surprised though, and they're the villains and not the protagonists. Yet some of their fates are set in stone.

I got grudge sucked!
I understand the skepticism based on R*'s previous releases, but maybe we should wait to find out more about the game before criticizing its lack of inclusion and diversity. For all we know, the 7 guys on the teaser image could be the gang that shot up your home town and killed your family or something like that.We don't have much to go on here.

You mean spring 2018.

I don't think Rockstar makes this announcement without 100% complete confidence they can hit it. There is no external pressure for this announcement to happen right now, other than they are 100% able to hit that date.

I presume most of the next 12 months are spent polishing. Rockstar knows how insanely high of a mark they are going to be compared to with this sequel.

I was so sure they wouldn't go with a numbered entry. Especially when this is the third Red Dead.

Also: all male cast? Possibly all white? What did women did to you, Rockstar? Jesus.

Except the excuse that these are the characters they wanted to make, and it's their game.
That's total bullshit and such a typical response.

A person's gender is irrespective to a well written narrative and Rockstar has some of the best writers in the gaming industry. Gender can provide context, but it isn't dependent on a story. Nothing need change in Redemption if you played as Abigail instead of John.
